Fri Jan 29 2010Went to Julep to get our nails done before a wedding...there were 6 of us, everything was on time, services were amazing, and two months later my polish is starting to chip. So worth it!

Tue Aug 11 2009My husband bought me a facial and pedicure gift certificate "Beautiful Head to Toe" and I loved every part my visit. I've had lotos of facials, and I was skeptical that the organic ingredients would be as effective, but I was wrong! My face was soft days later. And my pedicurist was lovely, not overly chatty, and my pedicure lasted over a month. I'm coming back with my sisters when they come to town.

Sat Jul 25 2009I just started coming back to Julep because of the new membership program - great prices that let me get more services. The eyebrow waxing deal is great, and my pedicures from Julep always last way longer than other places.

Fri Jul 24 2009In my opinion the whole experience at Julep is absolutely worth the price! True, you can save a few dollars going elsewhere but if you are looking for a professional service, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere - I recommend this place. A nice touch was that I also got a drink and a chocolate during the service. And yes, they also have services for men :)

Mon Mar 30 2009I feel the same as what others have experienced. Pricey for what you get. You go in with high expectations hoping and feeling excited you're going to be pampered for an hour, but big disappointment. Feel rushed and uneasy, like they just can't wait to get you out of there because you're interrupting their time, even though you're paying for that time. I've had super pampering from foot spa's for a fraction of their price and in gorgeous surroundings if that's what you want. Save your money if you have any sense or just waste it if you just want to go there to be seen!

Sun Nov 30 2008Went to Julep upon recommendation from a friend. The receptionist was nice and friendly and my service started on time. I liked the decor and the open floor plan, very nicely done. I didn't care for the limited selection of their own polish. A few days later it started peeling (as in maybe applied too thick). I did like that they sent you home with the file and there was parking in the building. I do feel that for the price, I should've left saying, "Wow! I can't wait to tell everyone how awesome Julep is" but I don't.

Sun Nov 16 2008This review is long overdue. I have been going to Julep over the last few years and have very much enjoyed all my services. I agree, it's a little pricier than average, but it's clean, professional, and has a great atmosphere. They always have fun/creative promotions. In addition to the excellent services and customer service, there are two things I think are great at Julep: (1) Parties! I planned a bridal shower for a friend and it was perfect. We booked enough appointments that we had the whole place to ourselves. We brought in food and champagne, played bridal shower games, opened gifts... we even plugged in a video of the groom to show on all the screens in an interactive game with the bride. The staff was great and flexible as a few guests changed their services. I wish I had more parties to plan here! (2) Online appointment booking. You can choose your service, date/time, and vernisseur. SO convenient! My only little gripe about this place is that the chairs are not very comfor... Read more

Sat Aug 23 2008One of the worst and most expensive eyebrow waxes ever. Michelle did the wax which hurt more than any other I had before, and also left me with a rash! Do not have your eyebrows waxed here! My pedi and mani was ok, but way too expensive for the service recevied. Next time, I will go to one of the strip mall places and get the same quality for about 1/4 of the price!

Thu Jul 03 2008You go in thinking you're going to be treated to something special. You leave with nothing but a rushed nail polishing and an exorbitant bill- with a tip automatically included even though the service was neither quality or friendly. I hope people see the reviews on this place so they can avoid a completely disappointing experience. And Julep gets the message that treating customers like this is not a sustainable business practice.

Thu Jun 12 2008I went for a pregnancy pedicure expecting something special, but found the service to be ordinary and boring for the price you pay. This was the most expensive pedicure I ever purchased and a majority of the time was spent on painting my toenails. Very little foot massage which is what a pregnant woman needs! Not sure what part of the pedicure was supposed to be special for pregnant ladies. I wouldn't go here again to pay so much for a mediocre pedicure. I've had better pedicures for a cheaper price at equally nice salons around town.

Mon May 12 2008The past three times coming, with an appointment made in advance, I was met with a 20+ minute wait. The receptionist was pleasant and very accomidating but my manicurist Leah, however, was very late and took over an hour to do my nails. I came back to this place becasue I have heard all the rave reviews, but I can't make an appointment somewhere when I have to expect an additional 20+ minute wait time. Quality manicure, but expect to wait.

Sun May 04 2008I agree that the prices are a bit steep at this salon, but you get what you pay for. Julep has great atmosphere and attention to detail. Furthermore, if you care about this, employees have health insurance ---so maybe it is worth the price. I would highly recommend the waxing services for both comfort and results. All of the employees are friendly and gracious. The salon is designed to have a social atmosphere, rather than being a quiet retreat---so it is more suitable for groups or pairs. I wouldn't recommend going here if you are just looking for a no-frills clean up of your nails. Also, don't go on Mommy Mondays if you don't want to be around lots of little ones. A nice detail: they are very accomodating to special groups like bridal parties, helping to make the event a celebration.

Wed Apr 23 2008My sister dragged me into Julep after watching me pick at my fingernails. As a newbie to the world of manicures and pedicures I was nervous and a little embarrassed to go... my fingernails are short and difficult to paint. My nerves were quickly put aside. The staff at Julep is warm and friendly, and they made me feel very comfortable. The decor is also very chic and welcoming. My sister was seated right beside me, so we were able to chat and pick our polish colors together. The paraffin treatments and massages were amazing, but the the best part was watching Lisa work her magic on my nails. They went from being short and haggard to perfectly filed and painted. Thanks for a great first experience!

Sun Apr 06 2008I walked into Julep Nail Parlor with HIGH expectations. I read tons of great reviews and was excited to have a relaxing manicure and pedicure. WRONG! The front desk girl was apparently new and seemed to have a hard time finding my name (which was entered incorrectly when I called to schedule). The girl doing my service was 10 minutes late, smelling like food, so she was obviously not late from a previous client. I just wanted to relax, but she kept talking on and on about her personal life. I'm sorry, but I don't care to hear about your troubles with your ex-husband if I am meeting you for the first time. She sped through the service and even though she started 10 minutes late, she finished almost 10 minutes early! The nails looked good, a few of them got this bubbly look to them though. Try to avoid being seated in the back by the fireplace. I was saddened to hear some girls in the back talking about inappropriate personal problems and their unhappy working conditions. Far ... Sun Apr 06 2008This was my first time going to this nail salon. I had heard great things about it so was looking forward to it. Avoid it! Horrible customer service the manicure was the worst one I have received and the pedicure actually hurt my feet. Far from relaxing. That along with the rude front desk girl and rude management makes this a place to avoid.

Sun Apr 06 2008After trying this a few times, I'm convinced it's a strong idea, just weakly executed. Last time, the chair I was in broke (or the foot-bowl thingy), as did the next one. Some of the manicurists are really good, and some are just so-so. The front desk is slow and not that cheerful, although that's the norm these days--also, I think it's cool for parties, because it's like having your own private spa to yourself, but the pricing is steep. I go back and forth about Julep, because it's conveniently located and Thursday nights are fun with friends--but in the end, I don't think it's worth it. I wish someone would open up a place like Julep, only simpler. It feels like a pushy Starbucks. Polish lasted a long time, good feeling did not.

Mon Mar 24 2008We found that making the appointment was fast and convenient booking online. So after coming in for a mani/pedi with a friend our experience was less than pleasant . Sitting in the uncomfortable chairs and having to walk around other's services to even get to our seat was not the most enjoyable way to walk into a service. It was nice that waiting for you was a chocolate that had looked like it had been sitting there all day.... Gross no thanks. Also I was not so impressed with the time frame of my mani/ pedi the girl I had took 25 minutes to polish my toes, that is an expensive polish. I would have just booked a polish change and saved my self time and money. It also seemed like the people working were not happy to be there. Maybe all the hopla is just about a new place in the neighborhhod but there is a lot of other places to go that are worth the money... So don't waste your time and money!!!!!!

Sun Mar 02 2008I loved the U District location as a new mom and it is great so you can get your nails/waxing services & there is help to watch the little one. But, I have to say that I've gone to the downtown location now that I'm back to work and I don't think the price is worth the services. They got rid of the express services (ie the mid to low price range and now you have to pay almost $50 dollars to get any pedicure with nail polish. That is way too much considering that is only 45 minutes and they are speeding through the service. I know the owner was trying to have a place for the girls to gather but I can't afford to come here with my girlfriends or even really treat them for a pedicure. It is just too much. I liked the polish, but the services aren't worth it.

Sat Nov 17 2007I had the signature maincure and pedicure today. My nail artist, Erin was wonderful. However, I could not get past how loud it was in the salon. When I go for a manicure & pedicure, I want to relax and have quiet. Artists and clients were yapping away, and then the beginning of S*x and The City theme came on. While I love SATC, I wasn't looking to be forced to watch/listen to it. Erin gave a great, firm massage, and shaped my nails beautifully. For the price, the hand + foot revitalizer at Gene Juarez is more my style. This place would be perfect for groups - bridesmaids, birthdays, etc.

Sun Sep 30 2007Great new nail salon. So fun to go with your girlfriends- perfect for a girls night out- you can all sit together, all the furniture is on wheels! Attention to detail means organic products and very safe sterilization, thank you!! Great salon, totally worth it!

Sun Aug 26 2007went to julep by myself for a few services. i think its strength lies in the venue. it does seem like a great place to gather the gals. however for the solo customer, it is VERY pricey for a decent but average mani pedi. unfortunately i paid for the spa mani pedi which by definition should be well above average. it also took 2 hours to do the spa mani pedi and most of the time was spent on actually painting the nails. not the filing, the cuticle gardening, the buffing or the massage, but the actual painting of the nails. the massage portion was just over 8 minutes total of the entire 2 hours, or about 2 minutes per limb. for the gal on the go, 2 hours is a long time to sit for a paint job. i also had my eyebrows done and had a terrible skin reaction to either their wax or products which has never happened before, but hey, that could just be bad luck.

Fri Aug 10 2007The staff is friendly and it has a great atmosphere/decor. I especially appreciate their triple sterilization methods - you also go home with your manicure supplies and they donate $1 to charity when you bring it back next time to use. I really wish the chairs were more comfortable and had headrests. Otherwise, I love how the chairs can all move around for groups to sit together.

Thu Jul 26 2007As soon as I entered the establishment, I was greeted by the delightful staff at Julep! I did not have to wait in the lobby like at other spas as I was seated immediately. I had read about the decor at Julep and I absolutely loved it in person! It is so warm and cozy in there! My experience was perfect -- the water was refreshing, the music was relaxing and yet, upbeat at times and the chocolate I was given met the spot. My service was excellent! I have never had such a wonderful massage for a $48 pedicure -- thank you Lisa!! My toes still look fabulous after 2 weeks! I will be recommending Lisa to all my girlfriends! Thank you Julep for a wonderful start to my Wednesday!

Sun Jul 15 2007I am a pedicure-a-holic, and this place was really fun! From the citris-mint water to watching chick flicks on the bigscreen, I enjoyed my experience here. Being a new business, they have some minor kinks to work out (dvd wasn't working at first, computer glitch when we were checking out) but overall it was a 10; it's for sure a place meant for hanging with girlfriends and relaxing--I could use my cell phone without getting dirty looks from people, and the front desk staff wasn't rude like most places. There was a bridal shower/party there with us, and they were having a great time--they brought food and champagne,too--so the next time I have a party, I'm having it there. Plus, the pedicure (massage especially) was really thorough and pretty when she was done. Definitely worth checking out!

Thu Jul 05 2007I recommend Julep because they are clean. I like the way their tools are sterilized and how they give you your file and nail brush. There aren't very many places that are clean and this is one of them so check them out. This place is also really good for large groups. Everyone can sit together - the furniture can be moved around. The only thing that I would say is a negative is that when I got my pedicure, the nail tech didn't really clean under my nails. My polish chipped after a week and a half (it usually stays on for 3 weeks). I love their lotion though!

Thu Jul 05 2007I know this place is all about nails, but I drove around looking for it when I read the reviews saying "clean," "sanitary," etc. May (?) did an excellent, thorough job - it was the longest wax I've ever had, but I am baby-smooth and happy with the results. The waxing room isn't very Zen - it's a little cramped and looks more like a doctor's office - but it is super clean, which is the bottom line. They open a sterile package of tweezers and scissors instead of using the "community" tweezers - shudder - and don't double-dip into the wax. Maybe I sound like a germophobe, but it's a Brazilian! It's a whole 'nother level of germ, people. My only regret is that I didn't get a mani/pedi on the way out. It's in this comfy, happy space, which looks like a better-designed version of a Tully's (or Starbucks?). There were many groups of friends, and it looked like a good time. Maybe I'll bring a girlfriend back for SATC night...

Thu Jun 28 2007In Short Owner Jane Parks, a former Starbucks exec, wanted to create a place for women to socialize and has admirably succeeded in her task: Low-hanging orange lanterns, rich dark wood and a fireplace lend a sophisticated air, while custom-made, upholstered pedicure thrones are designed for maximum mobility and comfort for technicians and customers. All items are sanitized in a medical-grade autoclave and high-temperature sanitizer. Classic treatments include luxe the salon's natural, organic lotions, while the signature treatments include ingredients like champagne, chocolate and pomegranate.

Wed Jun 27 2007I went there because they had a 100 free manicures when they first opened and I thought it was a really cute concept. It's a fun idea to sit with friends but I went by myself so I felt really stupid sitting next to the sink by myself since they were trying to squeeze as many people in as possible. Also the chairs didn't look very comfortable for the people getting pedicures. Everyone was nice but seemed to be trying way too hard - could be a new business thing or that they are trying to be the next Starbucks since the owners used to be an executive there. It was nice getting the free service but would go somewhere else to actually spend money because the services aren't cheap and the place isn't exactly luxurious. Also, you might want to bring your own nail polish their colors were limited and not very cool.

Tue Jun 26 2007What a wonderful place. Thank you Jane & friends for creating a place for us. We needed this in Seattle. Not only was the front staff professional & nice, my appointment was on time and my nails look better then they have in years. Your products are fabulous & I look forward to my next service soon. I'll be telling all my friends about your new place!!

Tue Jun 12 2007They offer Thursday night girl's night where you can bring your own bottle of wine and watch episodes of Seks (The correct spelling is being blocked by CitySearch) in the City on the plasma TV, Monday night is mom's night where you can bring your kids and have them entertained by a never ending toy chest. Once you sit down you are wrapped in a fuzzy brown blanket and served mint water and mint chocolates. Then there's the people who work there: Kate is a doll at the desk, on the phone, and all around the salon. Marika and Anthony are nail wonders pampering and massaging your hands and feet. This place is a dream come true nail salon!
