"Joey" was and remains a notable single from the early 1990's, a time when there was no dominant genre. The single features the enigmatic songwriting and vocals of Johnette Napolitano, and the lyrics and music palatably cover love, alcoholism and co-dependency. While the track is memorable, has aged well, and works well electric or unplugged, it doesn't quite rise to the level of the greatest singles from the 90's. "Joey" charted in the U.S. for 8 weeks in 1990 (peaking at #19), and the only notable cover is by Merkury Burn.
