I never cared for her. Her songs were juvenile and soppy. I give her two stars because she  has a unique voice.

I can overlook that she has awful teeth and the religious feel of some of her music because it's really not bad.

Good songwriter, not the best vocalist...unless maybe she finally decided vocal training isn't pointless. When I read that she didn't do vocal training because she felt it takes away personal singing style, I realized she must have given up on it pretty quickly. I felt the same way when I first started, but, even as a 15 year old, I realized I should stick with it and give it a chance. You really can have your own style, once you've learned to control your diaphragm, etc. It's worth it, especially as a professional, to protect your vocal chords. But....whatever. Her choice. I just hope she doesn't regret not taking care of them, once it's too late.

Nice new bad girl image, Jewel--guess you had to do something to get people to buy your music again.

I love how she totally changed herself for the media...not! Any folk singer that will ignore all their past talent to do a music video, spraying themself with a fire hose, and trying to pursue a sex image; deserves a major jeer!

I first started listening to Jewel when You Were Meant For Me hit the radio. Immdeiately her unique voice and poetic lyrics made me a fan. She is one of the most real and homest musicians out there. As she grows as a person, her music changes with her. She shares her heart and soul on every song she sings, giving insight into real human emotion. I think she's one of the best singer-songwriters ever.

Jewel is a whore. Plain and simple. Her poetry sucks and singer-songwriter stuff went out of style so she reinvented herself as some dance diva showing cleavage. I can't even tell you how much I hate her music and voice. Don't get me wrong, I think that there should be more yodelling in the world, but I absolutely can't stand it when a singer sounds like they are crying when they're singing the song. It sounds so insincere and fake and I want to kill the person singing.

I personally can't stand her music but so many people like her so she must be doing something right.

She has grown considerably as an artist, and it seems music critics have come around to appreciate her unique voice. Listen closely, and you'll realize a lot of her songs have a heartfelt message behind them -- often revealing a humble wish for humanity to be able to grow in the world. "Who Will Save Your Soul", "Hands", and "Intuition" are faves. I don't believe she deserves to get slagged for experimenting with new, non-folky song stylings -- any artist deserves to be able to grow in new directions, even if those more rhythmic touches make you look more like less sincere pop artists. Her lyrics reveal someone still very true to herself.

Never really cared about her one way or the other, but now she's really pathetically changed her image just for the sake of trying to stay in the mainstream. Seems pretty shameful to me. But like I said, she wasn't that great to begin with anyway.

She is the only female vocalist today that does not make me cringe and she has an exceptional vocal talent. She has the abilty to convey emotion that most other artists only dream of!!!!

She's got a voice, she's got a photogenic look, she's got talent on the guitar, she can write very well, so who cars about her infamous tooth. If she wants to keep it that way, it's her tooth. All you critics, bitch about stuff that's worth bitching over.

Jewel has an original style and she writes some really great songs. If you're not into real full on rock and you want something more mellow to sit back and relax with Jewel's your girl. Some of her songs are better than others but don't let that put you off, that's the same of any band/musician. If you're in the mood for some slow paced, easy listening, go for Jewel. Her stuff is especially good because her songs are full of meaning, she really writes and sings from her heart.

Jewel is one of the most talented musicians today. Unfortunately, not everyone can appreciate her music. Not taking away from her musical ability, her lyrics are what attracted myself to her. They are not "whiny" as I have heard them characterized, but rather deeply emotional. They do not dwell in the negative though; they are also very inspirational. This balance is what makes her a wonderful lyricist. The way she puts these ideas into music is amazing. Pieces of You lacks much production value, but this is positive, in that Jewel's natural talent and raw emotion shine through. Spirit is a beautiful, inspirational project, which first drew me to her. Joy: A Holiday Collection is the perfect Christmas album, as well as wonderful album in general. My favorite songs, though, are ones that have yet to be released. I can't wait to see what she puts out there next!

I think Jewel is very talented. I really like her Christmas album. Her voice takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it's very enjoyable. Also, her book Chasing Down the Dawn is good.

It is true; she lived in a van. But at least she has brains, own ideas, a beautiful voice, and beauty. She is a girl who knows what she wants... it is so sad there are soooo unbrains people whom guess that thinks she's pretty bad. It is better, YOU, guy, don't lose time and go, put in your head some (even a little)brains. See you when you became at least reasonable.
