Not sure if he is still called Reverend but he is no Reverend. More like Irreverent! Used the message of the Gospel to help the distressed and the poor to get himself very rich (Bad fruit)!

He is called Rev. Jesse Jackson but I'm not sure if this means he is Christian. One thing I do know is he is not the usual kind of Preacher that looks down his nose at people. He spoke for gays, the poor and disadvantaged of all colors. He also spoke kindly of gays, unlike the rest of these so called Preachers and he helped fight for equal pay for woman and all minorities. Sure he may have done it for power & noteriety but at least he did it.

What I despise more than Jessie Jackson flaunting his bully power to gain an advantage is racial hatred. God will repay this kind of hatred by assigning a special place in the hottest parts of Hell for people who hate what God created based on the color of the skin pigment which God gave the people he created. Evil is sin and so is racial and other kinds of hatred without a just cause! There have been Evil Dictators and leaders of all colors who have helped chip away at the fabric of this planet, not just the likes of Jessie Jackson.

Not especially great. but I give him 5 * because there's no way he's worse than Trent Lott and I want to do my part to fix that.

Jesse may deserve a *1* or a *2*, but he's not as disgusting a crook as many of the wingnuts who've been rated higher, so I'm going to join jj_frap in attempting to correct the balance.

569 votes of "1" must be some kind of a record on RIA. After seeing that, I won't let anyone even suggest to me that RIA is "liberal." While it would be good to have someone in Jackson's position who isn't spawning illegitimate children or employing made-up words, it's still necessary to point out that Jackson has been doing an essential service to the nation for decades now. The "Rainbow Coalition" was far more compelling than anything Sharpton has served up. At so many moments in recent history, Jackson has been there ... even though sometimes I wish he wasn't, because the media seems to turn to him as a predictable "Black Perspective" when there are so many better and more varied black voices in the public sphere. Still, Jackson has been a worthy and noble part of American culture, and deserves more respect than this.

Please don't judge Christianity by the conduct of Christians. Judge Christianity by the conduct of Christ. That said, Mr. Jacksons political is not worth mentioning any further.

Jesse Jackson has done more to hurt the black race than any person living or dead - and all in a self-serving effort to enrich and empower himself.

I'm amazed that Jackson is listed under Politicians and Officials...plain and simple, he is a propagandist. Then again, I guess you could say that most politicians are propagandists...however, Jesse Jackson defines the term...he doesn't speak a single truth. He is also a race-baiter, a feminist, he can't speak English to save his life (ebonics and rap do not count), and he is (along with Al Sharpton) the quintesential racist. Anyone that does not believe this has been fooled by a master craftsman.

I noticed for the most part that a lot of black people are rated the lowest. Usually I would disagree with these claims but I have to rate this guy low. My reasons are differnet than most of yours, some don't like blacks who are newsworthy. Jesse is supposed to be a leader, you can't do things like cheat on your wife. You can't tell us what the black community is doing wrong and you did the same thing. He screwed around on his wife and had a kid on the side. I tell ya, this guy and Bill Cosby.

Can't black people see how this manipulator keeps blacks from becoming independent and proud of themselves. By telling them that they need extra help (Affirmative Action), he is basically saying, you are inferior and you need special assistance. What an insult!

In the words of former congressman JC Watts from Oklahoma: A race hustling poverty pimp. He is one of the reasons the Democrats can't currently win an important national election anymore. People like him, Barbara Boxer, Cynthia McKinney, Al Sharpton, Maxine Waters, Teddy Kennedy and others pull the Democratic party even further away from mainstream American thought and values than do a bunch of Fundamentalist Christians who want to force feed Terry Schiavo and teach creationism.

Jackson doesn't give a tinker's damn about child slavery in Africa. He can't get money from them and there are no white people or corporations over there to extort money from. Jackson is a self-serving SCUMBAG, pure and simple! I wonder if brother Jesse every got around to paying child support for all his little Jesses and Jessies? But of course all us white people should be paying for them, after all our evil ancestors made him do it.

Is it NOT against the Law, to impersonate a reverend/preacher/minister/rabbi , or any Man of God?You MUST be registered with all the paperwork , and everything else ,right? So how has he, sharpton , and every lesser known black racist race baiters in every city ,large and small , been allowed to get away with this , for so many decades? Round them up , and throw them in jail , for the rest of their lives!!!!

I don't like most of his politics, but I have to admit he does a hell of a job when it comes to dealing with diplomacy. The fact that he has helped get hostages released is enough to get a 3 from me.

Jesse Jackson is out of gas as a political leader. His failure lies in his inability to change with the times, making him largely irrelevant today in the civil rights movement. He was a close associate of Martin Luther King Jr. and has led various liberal civil rights organizations since then. Jackson uses race too much as a flashpoint. Black businessmen who might be unethical get a pass in his book because of their skin color. Blackmailing companies that don't hire that many blacks is also not right. Unfortunately this guy is the most prominent civil rights leader in the country right now. Time to field for new talent and ideas. It's time to move beyond the old victimization track.
