Fri Feb 05 2010Incredible chops. The man would be much more of a household word were he not so reclusive.Which makes me admire him all the more.If you want some serious eye and ear candy, check him out at Ronnie Scotts club with the lovely and talented Tal Wilkenfeld on bass.(there's a DVD,and clips on youtube)

Fri Jan 23 2009Beck is another good one. Anytime you play with Clapton you've done something right!

Fri Oct 10 2008He influenced everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Jimmy Page to Joe Perry to Slash. He has been called the best ever by Clapton, Brian May, Joe Perry, Steve Lukather, & Jimmy Page. His technique is the equal of the best jazz/fusion guitarists and he plays with a fire few can match. One of the top 3 guitarists of all time!

Fri Oct 03 2008His playing can be molten hot when required or ultra expressive. His playing "sings" like an amazing soul artist and as Eric Clapton said "When Jeff's on, nobody can touch him." Fortunately, he's on quite often :-)

Fri Aug 22 2008Because he is less of a self-promoter that the other guitar heroes of that time, some seem to demean his ability. All he did was play and his work speaks for itself. I find it to be sad that people need to pick favorites. Just listen and enjoy!

Fri Aug 22 2008Truth.

Mon Aug 04 2008Solid but will always be overshadowed by Clapton and Page.

Thu Jun 26 2008When you hear "HENDRIX" you think of the amphetamine of innovative guitar playing. Straight up 'ROCK 'N' ROLL'

Sun Jun 22 2008Beck is a god

Fri Jun 20 2008Stevie Ray Vaughn beat him up bad during a live performance back in 1990. Yikes.

Mon Jun 16 2008one of the greatest!!

Tue May 06 2008Beck was an innovator, stylistically and technically. Few probed the function of a whammy bar as thoroughly as he did. He increased his speed by eschewing a conventional pick, instead using his thumb; the technique was employed by later players such as Toy Caldwell. Live, Beck plays like a natural, almost effortlessly working intriguing music out of his guitar.

Thu Jun 14 2007Jeff Beck is the most important guitarist from the 60's (Besides Pete Towshend). My favorite song from him is Plynth (Water Down the Drain), by The Jeff Beck Group. I will attribute my change in my review and rating to dansan3, because after reading his reviews I listened to some of Jeff Beck's music and he was right to a certain extent.

Tue Jun 12 2007Don't ask us. Just ask the guitar Gods like Van Halen, Satriani, Clapton, Santana, Page, and Hendrix "Who is the best guitar player?" They all mentioned JEFF BECK.

Mon Mar 12 2007The best of the 60s rock guitarists. Still not in the same league as guitar players from other forms of music at the time though. Rock was the very bottom at the time. Which really makes it ironic that the rock guitarists of the day are so lauded. (Being worshipped by the enormous baby boom generation has its benefits.)

Sun Mar 11 2007Makes Jimmy Page look amateur.

Thu Mar 08 2007His solo career has been spotty overall, but his groundbreaking work with The Yardbirds is deservedly given classic status in my view. The original Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, and a fine if obscure drummer named Mickey Waller was great and more influential than they're given credit for- for instance, they set the template for Led Zeppelin, and their first album was mostly great. Beck had a lot of range: he played blues, folk, classical guitar, psychedelia, proto-metal, jazz- the guy was capable at any style it seemed, and not a jack of all trades, master of few either. Highly innovative and influential.

Wed Feb 28 2007The absolute best ever. His ability to craft every single note into a piece of work is what makes him so. No one else can come close to what he can do. He consistently makes my jaw fall open and the hair on my neck stand up. If you don't know why he is so good listen to Goodbye Pork Pie Hat from Wired. The opening few bars should do.

Mon Jan 15 2007Actually pretty tasteful, just close your eyes and listen, he knows how to make a stratocaster sing beautifully.
by keven101
Tue Jan 09 2007jeff becks diversity was second to only clapton , however i feel he has a little broader range. just look at blow by blow and wired. his impact on the music industry is constant and deserving

Sun Jan 07 2007I saw Jeff Beck with The James Cotton Blues Band and Johnny Winter in Atlanta @ the old Atlanta Civic Center. Beck played the talk box on Superstition. Unbelievable!!!! Does any body know what year that was? 1977, 1978 or 1979 I think?

Tue Aug 15 2006The unsung hero of guitar. So unknown and not reverred, he is a genius, and one of the greatest guitar players in the history of music. Greatest Song- Cause We've Ended As Lovers

Wed Jul 12 2006I've seen them all mentioned. Beck on Strat is tops.

Mon Jul 03 2006Listen to Jeff Beck's 'Freeway Jam', 'People Get Ready', 'Led Boots', & 'Blue Wind', for starters.

Wed May 31 2006I will always love his cameo in the film Blow Up, in 1966, where he smashes his guitar as the Yardbirds were playing Stroll On to an audience staring at them an not even tapping a so much as a toe. Always wondered if Pete Townsend got the guitar breaking idea from the film.
by leftfinger
Wed May 31 2006I'll take this guy over Clapton, Page and even Hendrix. Check out "Blow by Blow".
by gromit
Sun Apr 09 2006Very OVERRATED and DATED player! He's good, but not deserving of being put on a pedestal.
by tossa42e
Sat Mar 25 2006Much, much better than Page
by rockon64
Fri Mar 17 2006Amazing! Although he doesn't seem to be able to get along with anyone, musically. "Blow by Blow" made me want to buy a Les Paul and wail. I wish he were more commercially accessable, because people who think Clapton is god would be shocked to hear how good Beck is.
by doobiesnhof
Wed Mar 15 2006Definitely one of the top 10 of all time.
