Leno and Kevin Eubanks made for a good comedic duo.

As far as standup goes he used to be one of the best. As for being the host of the Tonight Show he has done very well at pleasing a large part of America. I don't watch the show much anymore as his sucking up to the Hollywood crowd gets old fast.

Funnier than Letterman, but that's not saying much.  Enough with the "how fat and lazy are Americans" jokes.  Enough with about half the things he goes on and on about practically every night.  Stick a fork in him, he's done.  He's a terrible talk show host, he's so busy telling stories about himself, the guests can hardly get a word in.

Something similar happened to me when I was working at a dining establishment in LA back in the late 90's. I guess Jay was ordering the waiters around like a dictator and causing alot of tension in the restaurant. I think one of the cooks may have given his food a little something that was not on the menu that night. People may like him on TV but he's totally different in person .

I met this guy at my job in Los Angeles while he was doing a doritos commercial and this was before he was on the tonight show. He was such a self-rightous asshole and tried to get me fired because I was trying to do my job. Such a Prick looser. I hope his chin falls off.

Like Stick, I find Jay Leno hilarious. I love the little side bits he does (interviews with Gilbert what's his name, the Bush imitator, etc.) And the headlines and wedding announcements are great. Some people say he doesn't take risks. Mostly the comedians I've seen taking risks are just risking being bleeped. They think vulgarity, racism, sexism and filthy language is "risk-taking" pfffft ...and the first casualty is humor.

He is OK, he has his moments, tends to pander too much to his guests.  I would have given him another star but I am tired of the fat jokes, he doesn't have the best body in the world and his wife certainly isn't model thin, so, lay off the fat jokes (ie J Lo's butt etc).I do fear for the Tonite show when Conan takes over, he is not good at all and will be a real lowering of the standards.

Jay is a good host. he took over Johnny Carson's show and is doing  a fine job hosting.  very few can be as good as Johnny Carson, however Jay is doing fine as a host.

The best of the best. Nobody else could have succeeded Carson this well. When he goes, the show is probably going away with him (but then, they said that when Johnny retired, too).

If you are wearing adult diapers or find Carrottop to be sophisticated humor, this is the guy for you. He insults the intelligence of anyone under the age of 75 who has a pulse. Corny and crummy humor and without a doubt the worst interviewer in the history of late night talk programs. He is hyper, interrupts and generally has a terrible rapport with most guests. That's the quality that made Carson so great. At least Letterman will rip on people. Jay tries to rip on people, but it is done in a corny hyper manner. Just terrible- the White Castle humburger of late night comedians.

I hate him. He makes me angry with his stupid jokes about fat people, gay people, etc etc etc. he's also sexist and always makes stupid comments the celebrities ignore. it's time for him to retire. conan rules.

Leno and Letterman is a tie for me. It depends what mood I'm in. I like the way Leno interviews guest better but he doesn't usually reveal anything interesting. His monologue is based on machine gun jokes. And it builds since if you didn't like one, the next one will be here in the next 5 seconds. However, that delivery reeks of a rim shot for each and every one. I think he actually has too many inside jokes from when the staff is presenting the jokes to him before the shows. And that is why he appears to be laughing at his own jokes. I think many of those jokes are much filthier in the backroom before they go to the monologue. After all these guys are writers (of jokes) before they are comedians. Look at Carson. He completely hung it all up but still couldn't resist writing jokes. The only thing that was missing is someone to hear them. And to hear them, someone had to tell them. As we now know Letterman was that vehicle for him during the end.

This guy was funny before he took over the Tonight Show. When he would guest on Lettermen,s show he was very funny and his comedy had an edge to it. Now he laughs more at his own jokes than his audience does. He seems to be obsessed with jokes about pedophiles [like that,s a humorus subject?]. In the last couple of years he seems to have got the impression that he is attractive to the opposite sex,as he hits on every young starlet that comes on the show [He makes an Ass of himself!] Where does he come off making fun of the size of Barry Bonds and Senator Kerry,s heads. Pot callin the kettle black. HELLO! Get a mirror!

PAAAAAAINNNNNNNFUL!!!!! Half the jokes in his monologue fail!! The only laughs he gets then are from his awkward cover-ups about why the joke didnt work (blames it on his writers!). He sucks. Time for Conan.

He used to be fun. Now he is terrible. The young guy who does Street Smarts needs to replace Leno or Conan, when Conan takes over Tonight. Leno acts like he is burnt out or bored, like Johnny was when he retired. Sad thing, Leno is about 15 or 20 yrs younger than Carson was.

I've seem clips of his old stand-up, which was very funny stuff. From what I've seen lately, he relies more on cliched material; I think he's gotten too comfortable to work hard on his craft. His interviewing skills don't hold a candle to Dave or Conan; who are masters at instantly coming up with hilarious quips.

Goes for the easy target all the time. uninventive and unoriginal. is a caretaker in the Late Night spot until 2009 when Conan takes over and gives the show a much needed edge; not close to Carson on his BEST day.

Not funny. The guy is still telling OJ jokes. That would be fine if it was every six months of so when OJ comes up in the news but one pops up every other week. It's been over 10 years. Get some new writers. Notice no one in the media has called Jay a nice guy in a couple of years. They use to say nice guy jay leno in every story. Not no more cause he's not a nice guy. This is a man that calls boy bands fags every night and then has them on his show and says great job guys thanks a lot. Next night he calls them a bunch of gays again. Hey I don't like them either but I did not beg them to do my show and say great job. Two faced. I don't like Dick Cheney either but the bad heart jokes get overdone so much they are sick. One bad heart joke funny, two ok, three you need some more writers, by five in a row it is too much. Jay is also mean to young actors. He is always saying how much high regard he had for people a generation before him but in interviews he acts like these people under 30 d... Read more

Jay is funny and some of his bits are great. The simplicity of Jay Walking is great. Headlines are also very funny. He has kind of gotten a little jaded over the years and it seems that he is forcing things a little but at least he still does a monolog I don't think Dave does any more.

Beats out Letterman, no doubt. He makes hilarious jokes that you can actually laugh at, and doesn't verbally attack things as much as Letterman does.

Jay Leno stinks so bad my dead grandmother can smell him. The way he tell jokes is so incredibly bad. And he is supposed to be a comedian! His show has nothing original about it whatsoever. All of little things like jaywalking stuff have been done by late night shows before. His monologe is long and boring. He tells jokes exactly the same way every time. Night after night after night. Just listen, the next time you watch, when he gives the punch line, he keeps talking when the crowd laughs. He says some stupid little thing like yeah how 'bout that? or can ya believe that one? It drives me crazy! He does it evertime they laugh just listen.

Think he is funny most times, but get tired of his fat or Jennifer Lopez has a big butt jokes, that is rather juvenile at best, and he is certainly paid well enough to come up with better stuff than that every night!
