ITT Tech

I graduated from ITT Tech in June of 2005. I went through the IT-CNS program and I ranked in the top 5 of my class. I also started at the main campus in Indianapolis and transferred to the campus in St. Rose, LA. The quality (if you could call it that) of education was pretty consistent between both campuses. The school itself is a joke. I had two classes where we just played Call of Duty and its various mods. Fun, yeah sure but, what a waste of time and money. I complained to the program chair and nothing was ever done. In fact, as far as I know, she didn't even bother to look into it. I had several other classes with incompetent instructors. They didn't even know the subject matter much less understand it. In fact, two of the classes were actually taught by the program chair. To be fair, I did have some very good instructors. I would like to add my two cents to the mix. My ITT Tech experience was mixed. I think it was another one of my "I lucked out" situations. I enrolled cause at the time I only had a HS Diploma and at 22, missing work was not an option. However the commute was an hour each way. I figured "OK, if it means after this, I can find work that will pay the bills, I'll do it." They did help me find work. It wasn't much, but one helped me get out of a horrid call-center job and I was even able to move out of mom's. The instructors did seem to care, but there was an administration change when I entered so I think that's why my experience was different. My campus had a leadership and instructors that were active in business in the community. (Read that as they owned businesses that were doing well.) This school is a joke. To all the students looking to enroll, don't waste your money. Go to a community college instead and you'll get a much better education out of it. My spouse works for ITT, he actually teaches there and he's been told by the "dean" to do whatever he can to pass all the students even those that don't show up or do work. The instructors are told to give those students extra work or anything else that would help them pass. So guess what, this is how basically most studenst get A's and B's. True, there are students that put a lot of time into studying but I just feel sorry for them because they graduate and they won't be taken seriously in the job force. The instructors get paid very little so no wonder they're not willing to actually teach. My spouse took the job because he was unemployed but he will be quitting as soon as this semester is over. I am currently a student at ITT in Madison MS. The school just opened this year and does have a graduating class yet. They are constantly losing and hiring teachers. For the classes they have teachers for they make it so easy to pass that any idiot can complete if they just show up. This is the only way ITT can keep it's 85% success rate it's forced to comply with. As for the amount of money im paying...OMG...ITT is not worth a fraction of the cost and all in all i am going to have 5 loans to pay off by the time i graduate. My major is ITCNS by the way and the teachers are below par as are all teachers from what ive heard. Teachers for basic subjects like english and math quit after 1 quarter, I dont know why youll have to ask them. Also the math classes require you to buy a graphing calculator which for some reason my big ass tuition does not pay for. I'm currently going to this school for an associates degree in IT-Computer Network Systems....I came across this school because I was going to another school before and it sucked and I dropped out. Then my supervisor from work said he was going to this school and that I should enroll because they are great. So I gave them a call and made an appointment to take a tour of the campus. It all went well, the facility looked great as well as the equipment. The financial aid staff were really good people who knew their jobs very well. My student representative also answered all my questions and told me that 85% of graduates from the school got jobs in their field. So, I was like okay, it seems like a good school so I think I'll enroll here. I got my books, calculator, etc., and started my first quarter about a week after. My husband has been attending ITT for the past 3 years. The first year and a half leading up to his associate degree was ok. As soon as he receive that degree, many things changed. Because he was only one of two people that were still enrolled in the program, the school basically could not accomodate him. He was told that there were no classes available for him in the bachelors program due to low enrollment. Mark stood his ground and they finally offered him the classes he needed. The solution, however, was to give him online classes and independant studies. They tried to switch him to daytime classes and even have him going to a hotel 15 minutes away for class. The problems are continuing to grow with each quarter. This school has no genuine interest in their students, only in their profits.(which are HUGE) It is an extreme disappointment to see a man working so hard for so long only to get treated like dirt. (This was my reply to ITT Tech in response to a "you're not worthy" flavored email I received yesterday from them) Hello, ITT Tech. I am glad to have the opportunity to reply to your email as I wish to describe my experience during my "interview" yesterday. Not only was it a waste of my time but I was insulted by the fact that I was made to take a "test" before given the courtesy of a company overview or even details on the supposed job. How shameful that a company would value a math test over talking directly with a candidate. I should have left immediately, especially when I and 2 other interviewees were ushered into a noisy room and what seemed to be a daycare situation, where children were allowed to run and play while their parents got homework help from a loud tutor. My greeter, Edwina Morgan-Forh, was all smiles but thoroughly unprepared (computers were not on for us nor at the appropriate start point for the "exam", no paper and pencils handy, her inability to give ... To all who read these inputs past and present, I cannot believe! An educational institute in the U.S.A can be allowed to be up and running with so many complaints, ethics and morals violations, and educational deception and fraud. I am working for ITT and I know what’s going on, everybody knows ITT-TECH and their fabricated information and invented reports, I am surpassed they still in the education business, they should be in the Sublime loans or any fraud and unethical business. The only concern of the management in the HQ is to increase profits and do not care about students, I believe ITT Tech soon will go down because I know about many lawsuits waiting for ITT.

Every graduating student share problems with me when I started to discuss mine. Financial aide dropped the ball on my GI Bill and I didn't get it in time to pay bills, They told me one thing and billed me another, They went through 4 deans in 4 years, and of all the instructors I had, only two are still there, the rest were fired or quit. They can't keep people. I have multiple problems, they told me all day time classes and about half way though I was getting night and weekend, and as a single mother I couldn't to it. One semester they couldn't even give me classes at all. Our main instructor gave us a review sheet that was the final almost word for word. So many times I was told one thing and another happened. I thought it was just me until discussing it with others in my Capstone final class. Not one student was happy, and couldn't wait to get out of there. I'm about to graduate from ITT Tech with a BS in Electronics Engineering. So, here is how I rate it. The Financial Aid department is top notch. They do all the work for you, and they got me many grants that totaled about $17,000 for me, over 4 years. The Student Representatives are very poor. I met with mine the month I started school there, and never again. He quit, I got another one that I met a few times and he checked up on me. He quit. I don't know who my rep has been for the past two years. The Career Services department are fairly good. They assisted me in getting many interviews, several job offers. I'm currently in a job that accepted my ITT Associates degree, and I'm making ~$20/hr. They also offer free job search help for life once you graduate with any degree. The full time instructors that they hire seem to be great! I had two with Masters, and one with a Doctorates degree. This school is the only one in my area that offered the degree in information system security which is a four year bachelors degree in information technology. This degree is a very good degree for anyone that is looking to get into the field of computer security although there are promises that were made that were not fulfilled. The school promises that they will have all the labs and supplies that will be needed in order to give you a better education that some of the other schools. Although the books are really good and do teach the subjects they are meant for. Overall the curriculum is a sound one, but they lack the lab time and practical knowledge they guarantee.Although it is better than a typical four year college. Overall i give it a 3 out of 5 rating.
