Don't know about 'the most refined' cuisine, but certainly among the most diverse in flavors, ergo, a favorite. Don't expect to be able to try it all, being as it is that for every new dish I go back to two or three familiar favorites. Wikipedia has been a great source to challenge Italian eateries. ------------------------- TRIED Antipasti - Bruschetta; Bresaola; Prosciutto e melone; Verdure in pinzimonio; Pizzette e salatini. REMAINING Antipasti - Insalata caprese; Braciole; Crostini con condimenti misti; Cocktail di gamberi; Olive ascolane; Mozzarelline fritte; Tartine; Peperoni imbottiti. ------------------------- TRIED Italian soup and sauce recipes - Minestrone; Risi e bisi; Tomato sauce; Fonduta. REMAINING soup and sauce recipes - Bagna Cauda; Pasta e fagioli; -------------------------- TRIED Italian breads - Rosetta ; Ciriola ; Crescentina; Piadina; Pita. REMAINING Italian breads - Ciabatta; Pane carasau; Pane casareccio; Panino; Focaccia; Pane tosca... Read more

Boring and overrated. Too easy to be bothered to cook and to enjoy.t is so cheap that you can even convert it into junk food. Just to mention, pasta and ice cream are of Chinese origin, not Italian.

Italian food may be good here in the U.S.A.,but in Italy itself it is divine.I had the good fortune to spend a week there, and not only did I not have a single bad meal, but was transported to the paradise of the palate on a regular basis...Mamma Mia!!! I must add that they also know how to serve this ambrosia in a warm and congenial manner. The only warning I could possibly give to travellers is that this is NOT a place to go if you want to lose weight!(Although there is SO much to do and see there you might just break even if you walk a lot.)

Nuts, I don't know why Italy is rated so low when they clearly have the best cuisine: lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, calzone, manicotti, etc. etc.
