Everyone in Detroit were wondering why Isiah didn't become the GM for the Pistons right when he retired...you have your answer. Lets not forget the bang up job he did in Toronto.

*Update* Isiah has utterly wrecked one of the storied franchises in the NBA. And the carnage is long term - with fat, lazy, overpaid, and underperforming players signed on for years. I don't see this being fixable any time soon. The way I see it, the Knicks have exactly four players who play hard: David Lee, Nate Robinson (who's 5'9"), Mardy Collins (who is only a borderline nba talent) and Renaldo Balkman (who is a 6'5" power forward). This is problematic.* Original Comment: Wow, when you have the biggest payroll in basketball and one of the worst teams, something is seriously going wrong. You have to look at two places - who's building the team, and who's coaching it. Of course players may be underperforming, but the GM is the guy that hired those players. And as Larry Brown is coaching it, I don't think the problem is there. The joke going around now is that the lady who is suing Thomas for sexual harassment asked for $2M to drop the case. Thomas declined, and instead offe... Read more

Thomas is the Affirmative-Action nightmare. . .untalented, petulant, entitled, corrosive figure who cannot seem to do anything without failure, ridicule, or (apparently) sexual harassment. . .oh, loved his sexist comments against African-American women. . .then again, I will miss him when he's gone because it's like waiting for dubya to say something stupid yet again. . .

Lets say I'm trying to pick the best horse to win a race. Should I go track down SeaBiscuit and ask him who he thinks is going to win? No, because he's a horse! He's not all that smart. He never paid attention in college - he had so much talent, he was told he never had too. You probably get the analogy by now. Hey, I loved Isiah on the court. The guy's a legend, and a basketball genius - a basketball PLAYING genius. He had no management experience whatsoever, no finance experience whatsover - why are you going to hire him as your general manager? My comment is ridiculous and it's too late, but so are Isiah Thomas's moves as GM of the New York Knicks. I've said it before...I'm not a fan of the player gone GM. I haven't been impressed with the moves of Danny Ainge, Jimmy Paxston, Kevin McHale, Isiah Thomas...among others.

He has made terrible executive decisions from day one at the helm. His down fall will ultimately be his first and biggest decision to build the franchise around Stephon Marbury who has been a cancer wherever he has played with no track record as a winner nor as a leader. If Jim Dolan had any basketball knowledge and did some homework, he would have never allowed Steve Mills upon naming him to MSG's top post, to hire Isiah as the Knicks president. The character flaws have been out there for the NBA community to see for a long time. All Mr. Dolan had to do was ask the greatest player ever to play the game MJ about Mr. Thomas and or Larry Bird and Mr. Dolan would have received a " no comment" ! If he would have asked the Raptors management team or the former CBA owners who personally witness the character problems of Isiah, and done a simple routine background check on this man just like any other corporate executive search is conducted, he would have never hired the man ! Shame on MSG, ... Read more

Isiah is a GM with the complete opposite results and decision ability of that when he was a player. Granted he inherited a difficult situation in NY from Scott Layden but he has made moves and only gotten worse. His past record with other teams and leagues (CBA) is eveen a worse track record. Isiah do us Knick fans a favor....retire!!

Not really sure what he's thinking. His trades at the 05 trade deadline made no sense. Isiah was a great player, but hasn't done as well in his coaching and gm positions. Hope the best for the Knicks, because I like to see them win, but don't think it will happen any time soon.

This guy has never seen a hyped-up player he hasn't liked. Sorry Isaiah, just because Stephon Marbury, Jamal Crawford and a few others are stars doesn't mean they can win games. Marbury is an excellent PG that many say plays poor defense. The rest of these guys may also have good backgrounds, but the sad fact is that they can't win! Isaiah needs to start making moves that make a difference, instead of acting on his gut instinct and going after the first name in lights. I bet he gets the ax soon.

Not sure he should be this far up, but I think he's good at what he does. Needs better relations though.
