Thu Jul 30 2009Great movie with great action and incredible special effects. I am however curious about Tony Stark's genital health considering the fact that he has intercourse with soo many strangers. This is one part of the story that really needs to be adressed in Iron Man 2

Wed Jul 15 2009Deserves a three for the sheer mechanical method of setting up the obligatory sequel. . .but it's much better than it deserves to be. Perhaps a bit too long and could have used some editing- it's nice to notice Downey (underrated actor) get some good work. It's a good movie that could've used more action sequences with the suit. One quibble- I always thought Tony Stark was one of the less interesting Marvel incarnations.

Tue Jul 07 2009I enjoyed this more than I expected. My experience with movies about comic-book superheroes has not generally been positive, to say the least, and I generally avoid them. I saw this on video a while back on my son's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. Downey is very good, and for once one of these movies actually has a script and some acting, instead of being relentless special effects. Not a great film by any means, but a reasonably pleasant entertainment.

Thu May 28 2009THe movie itself was pretty funny. Iron Man was originally a drunk ass and what made this movie work so well is that Robert Downey Jr. and the character Iron Man were BOTH drunks in both the comic and REAL LIFE. They both had almost exact experiences if you know anything about the comic [which I know enough to get by]. Back on the subject though, the special effects etc were amazing and the story held true in general to how Iron Man came to be. What sucks though is that the fight scenes semmed a bit short? I denno thats just my opinion. 4 Stars since the action was to short lived!

Sun Dec 14 2008Typically I would rate this as a bad movie but it had some good qualities but I would only recommend watching the DVD; not owning. I like Edward Norton but in this movie it was just not his role. The movie is very predictable and just when you think you can safely go to the exit doors the movie drags something meaningless out again. Just not a very fun movie overall. Good effects but just too blah as a movie storyline for me.

Fri Dec 12 2008Didn't live up to the hype, in my opinion. It left me saying "that was it?"

Wed Nov 26 2008The best super hero movie in well over a decade, which unfortunately only warrants two stars.

Thu Sep 25 2008I saw this back in May. A pretty good comic book movie. Robert Downey Jr was good as Tony Stark, a billionare inventor who gets kidnapped while giving a demostration in Afghanistan. He escapes by building a suit of armor and proceeds to modify it later on. There were some good visual effects and even a few humorous moments.

Wed Jun 25 2008When i first saw a preview of this film, i thought it was going to be a terrrible movie. I was very wrong. Iron man is "Marvel's" Batman. well to me, since they really don't have super powers. Iron man is a good film, and I will buy it when it comes out on dvd. Robert Downey Jr. who plays Tony Stark/Iron Man, has done a very good job. Jeff Bridges plays the villian of the movie. I have never read the comics, or heard about the cartoon show. so i had no idea what to expect. And if you are going to see it, watch the end credits. Robert Downey Jr. is also in the True story movie "Zodiac" with Mark Ruffalo and Jake Gyllenhaal. If you liked this Movie, you might want to see "The Incredible Hulk" with Edward Norton, and Liv Tyler. These are my favorite super hero movies: Spider-man, Iron man, Batman, and The Incredible Hulk. I read that there is plans for Iron man 2, even a Captain America movie, we will see. Please comment on this.

Thu May 08 2008good movie. I do not know anything about the Iron Man comics. watched today for a change of pace { been watching a lot of Chick flicks with my daughter} good special effects of course. Robert Downey jr. is very good as tony Stark the rich genius weapons maker. he gets ambushed and hidden in Afghanistan. and forced to hide in a cave a make weapons for them he is very seriously injured and has this device put in by a sympathetic doctor who is stuck in the cave with him.put in his heart. while there he and the assistant makes an Iron man suit to get him to escape. which he does. gets home and works on building the ultimate Iron man suit. of course there are the bad guys to defeat. Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges are both good as a military man and jeff as the "bad guy"{who used to be friends with Tony's parents} Gwyneth Paltrow is fine as Pepper Potts his assistant . well done movie. I am not a huge comic book hero movie fan but this is worth a try at the theaters.

Sun May 04 2008Okay, I didn't expect much (actually, I expected it to kinda suck), but it was actually surprisingly entertaining. Keep in mind that this review is based off of my experience of not having read the comics nor having any prior knowledge of the story line. SYNOPSIS: Weapons developer Tony Stark is an arrogant, self-centered prick. There's just no other way around it. I guess being a brilliant inventor, though, he's got some clout to back it up, to be fair. Life is good for him until his military escort gets attacked and he winds up getting stuck in a cave in Afghanistan with a big hole in his chest. He sees how his weapons are in the hands of the enemy, and then he questions his life's work. Long story short, he starts using his technological know-how to try to redeem himself. PROS: Though Tony Stark's character is highly unlikeable, it's the blunt honesty, his ego and his lack of any sense of tact that makes him entertaining (i.e., the "doing a piece for Vanity Fair" line i...
