    Conflict in a political system is sometimes good, if its constructive and prevents the implementation of bad policy (which is usually the case). Compared to his historical peers, Obama has gotten along very well with Congress. It definitely helps that his only political experience is as a legislator and he's served in the Senate, thus he has many connections with that branch of government. It also helps that his party has solid margins of support in both chambers. A lot of President's don't have that luxury, and it is one that Obama will likely have throughout his first term. That he has only served as a Senator really colors his outlook in terms of executive style. This President tends to be conciliatory, sometimes overly so. In the Health Care debate, he bent over backwards for the health insurance lobby, during the Afghan war buildup, he acquiesced to his generals, on the economy, he submitted to the demands of Wall Street through his advisors like Geithner and Summers.     At times I wish he'd quit placating the other side of the aisle, but ultimately I respect the effort to address bi-partisan concerns, even if it slows progress. The divisiveness that plagued the past presidency didn't do us any favors. "If you're not with us, you're against us" is damn near the converse of "United we stand"

    I would actually say B+ to A- here. His lordship is not getting everything he wanted with the hoped-for speed; but, since the Dems currently control both houses, how difficult should this be?
