Tue Sep 29 2009Excellent online banking experience, been a customer for over 5 yrs now. Refinancing experience was a charm with ING. The best experience I've had and with their rates better than 90% of all other banks, what is more to ask. Highly recommend INGDIRECT.

Tue Aug 12 2008I certainly haven't had any problems.... of course, the idea isn't to use this as one would a "regular" bank. The transfers do take time, so if you're in a hurry, this isn't going to work well for you. The interest is much higher than the "regular" banks, which is basically no interest paid.

Tue Jul 01 2008If you want a great bank and you don't need in-person service, go with ING Direct. I will be transferring all of my SunTrust (HORRIBLE!) stuff to them (only drawback is: they are an online bank; no branches. This means depositing paper checks and transferring money can take some time) Free ATM use, easy and good website, 4%-5% interest on all accounts with any balance and no fees and no minimums, as well as an included free overdraft line of credit with no fees, at about 10% interest if you use it. Awesome!

Tue Jun 10 2008I recently applied for a HELOC to pay off my current HELOC to save paying interest. Who wouldn't? ING listed no fees, everything they cover so it was a great deal. But then they decline me for the amount needed and give me a "counteroffer" of an amount much lower. This does two things: It doesn't show up as a decline, skewing their numbers (as my FICO is 795) and it shows up as an approval. So I call to get a copy of the "appraisal" they used and they tell me they can't provide it because they didn't do a real "appraisal", they only did an internet search. So how unprofessional can a company get? I sent a scathing email to have a manager call me, and will soon make a decision to move my checking, savings (all 7 of them) and my sharebuilder accounts. Oh yeah, I tried to move money from my savings into my sharebuilder account and accidentally entered my "customer" number instead of my account number. Everything else was right. What do they do? They return the debit as insufficient, not ... Read more

Tue Nov 20 2007Can't even get through to them by phone. Here it is a Tuesday 11am and they indicate there are MORE than 40 people ahead of me in the phone queue. For an internet bank, this is unacceptable.

Sun Oct 28 2007I am using ING for online savings account. I have never had any problems with the bank for all three years I am using it, however, my usage of the bank services is quite limited. The only drawback I see is a significant delay between the money deposition day and the day the funds to be available.

Wed May 09 2007This is the worst bank I ever worked with. I've set up a new account, deposit $50 and tried to enter my wife into the system, so she can also withdraw money without me. After 3 weeks I tried to set up an automatic saving plan, so $100 every month will be deposited automatically from my own BOA account. But I could not. Then I figured out I can not do anything on the web site. It always gives me the same error, to call the customer service. I've calld the customer service to find out what's going on, but I could not do anything either. They requested to speak to my wife, who does not anything todo with the operation I try to do and who is outside the U.S. and will come in 1 year. I could even not explain to the supervisor, that the account belongs to me, that the money is transfered from my account, that I opened the account, that I set up everything and that I want to put more money into that saving account. I think they are even not humans, maybe some sort of humanoids. They do not... Read more

Mon Apr 23 2007I really liked ING, but have since found other online savings bank with more competitive APRs (over 5%). If you don't have an online savings account, you should definitely get one. 5.05% at HSBC and EmigrantDirect. You can open multiple accounts, so it's a great way to organize your savings. If you don't have any savings, then build some by setting up a transfer to save $10, $100, or whatever you can afford automatically each month.

Thu Apr 12 2007Despite their advertising, just about as faceless and impersonal as any other bank. At least they don't bend you over a counter and give you a cavity search when you do business with them though.

Fri Dec 15 2006I love ING Direct. Its got the best savings program that Ive found. You earn 4.5% interest on your savings without having to lock up your money in a CD! Its easy to use, VERY secure and extremely convenient! Customer Service is just a toll free call away and they have always been friendly and ready to help me resolve any issues I was encountering - which has rarely been the case! I cant say enough good things about this banking system. Before I discovered ING, I had no clue how much interest my dollars could be earning me! Now, Ill never go back to a Brick & Mortar Savings account!!! Referrals earn $25 just for opening a new account and $10 for referring friends! If youd like a referral to open your account and earn an instant $25. Feel free to email me at [email protected] - I will gladly send one your way! Tue Aug 24 2004Would be nice if the transfers were a bit faster. Still, a great rate, and customer service that actually listens to customers

Sat Nov 22 2003The best interest rates I have found. The only problem would be that it takes a couple of days to transfer money from ING to my checking account whedn I want to make a withdrawal, but then again this keeps me from spending without planning it first.
