Wed Jun 23 2010Go to Haveli on 2nd Avenue at 7th Street, NYC. Order a bottle of Gewürztraminer and a variety of appetizers. You'll be glad you did.

Wed Jun 23 2010The rice and chicken dishes are first-rate. . .if you're a nervous-nellie, check out a lunch buffet at any Indian restaurant and check it out for yourself. . .I think it's spectacular stuff.

Wed Jun 13 2007Not a big fan. The flavor is good but, it seems like its always a big pile of mush.

Thu Aug 03 2006Indian is a kind of food that you eather love it or hate it. I love it. I like their spicy dishes. Their bread(naan) is really good. Sweets such as Rasgulai and Gulab jamun are very exotic and very unique. Love their chicken Korma and Marsala.

Sun Jun 04 2006Oh,man! Savory vittles! Indian food could almost make a vegetarian outta me.(Except for that tasty tandoori chicken). This is a cuisine I don't have too often.I let the craving build up to a fevered pitch, then I have at it.

Thu May 19 2005While it can be extremely spicy to my fragile tastebuds, it is also quite delicious. Used to have a Indian friend who made such yummy stuff. Don't ask me the names of the stuff she cooked however. I do remember this soup she made, she called it Buttermilk soup, and I loved it. I believe it's watercress?

Mon Mar 21 2005Indian food is certainly an all-time favorite of mine. A few items I ordinarily crave are: galic or onion naan (flat bread), hot roti (a different form of Indian flat bread), safron rice, chicken tandori, vegitable pakora, various curies, and for dessert, kheer (a sweetened creamy rice concoction). One last suggestion, if anything's too spicy, simply add a bit of tamerand sauce to it, always available by request.

Tue Jan 18 2005Probably my favorite cuisine. jsut learned how to make a cheap curry mixing plain yogurt and tomato sauce together w/curry powder and other spices. rips my stomach, however, b/c i like the stuff hot. favorites are the Muttar Paneer and the veggie balls.

Mon Dec 27 2004Great cuisine, better as a laxative especially after a hearty session on the Vinda--loo. Got to give this wonderful spicy stuff a 5......

Thu Oct 07 2004Yum! I love Indian food. Sets your taste buds alight. Milder tasting curries available for the less brave among us and then there's the super hot that blow steam out your ears. It's all a matter of preference, but this has to be the most tastiest cuisine there is.

Fri Jan 09 2004Excellent, highly varied cuisine, with a much larger selection than the curry myth often propogated.

Tue Jan 06 2004I love it. Had it yesterday, had it today, likely have it again tomorrow. Note that there are several Indian cuisines--south Indian food is very different from north Indian (the type most likely to be found in a U.S. Indian restaurant) and there are delightful differences to be found from east to west, i.e. from Bangladesh to Kashmir/Pakistan. (All part of India before 1948.)

Tue Sep 23 2003My best friend is from India, and I eat over at his house quite often. I have learned to love Indian food, it is so tasty and different than what I was used to eating all the time. I must thank him for showing me there is all kinds of different food out there other than just American cuisine. Not that there is anything wrong with American, it is nice occasionally to have something different. Sometimes I wished the Indian food didn't have so much curry in it however.

Mon Sep 15 2003My favorite cuisine. Extremely complex and flavorful. The best way to get acquainted with Indian cuisine is to find a restaurant that serves a buffet. Hard to find but otherwise it is too difficult to learn your way around the menu. Also tends to be rather pricey ordered a la carte. And skip the tandoor chicken. Its rarely done properly and almost always dry, overcooked and tasteless. (ps. I was a peace corps volunteer in India.)

Mon Jun 23 2003Excellent cuisine, and usually reasonably priced. Go to a Indian lunch buffet sometime to sample the different dishes. There are many vegetarian choices.

Thu Jan 02 2003Even if the food isn't the best I've ever tasted (but still good!) the atmosphere in the Indian restaurants I've been to made it really interesting. We sat on the floor on these mats and we ate with our hands. It was a nice change.

Sat Jan 19 2002Another type of cuisine I could eat every night.

Tue Jan 15 2002Indian food goes through me like fat through a goose.(Fat cannot be digested by geese and quickly departs after being ingested.) It is also not terribly tasty. Curries can be summed up in the single sound...Blecch.

Sat Jan 12 2002I would give this is a definite 5 rating, based on the best tasting Indian dishes, but I'll lower it to 4 out of (1) deference to Jamaican cuisines and other worth 5's on this list, and (2) because bad Indian food can be really terrible. My favorite Indian foods are Shahi Korma (or really anything with the creamy/spicy Korma sauce) and Chicken Saagwala (you never thought something with spinach in it could be so tasty). I like spicy food but the Vindaloo stuff can be really harsh. Tandori has a nice flavor and feel to it, but is a little bland for my taste. Always get some naan (bread) with your meal, as dipping the naan in your korma sauce can be one of the best parts of the meal.
