Shotgun is not just a way of getting the front seat, it's a way of life. My friends and I have applied 'Shotgun' to everything in life rather than just the front seat of a car. For example, if someone should say "Shotgun that chair", they would be the only ones allowed to sit on the chair. We have also developed 'Shot not', which is essentially the opposite (for example "Shot not eating that mouldy cupcake"), and the last person to call Shot Not has to do the task everyone else has dodged.
