Check out the cost of inkjet printing. You get about 400 pages with a black and white cartridge (at low quality)for about $30.00 which is about 7.5c a page. A standard toner for this printer which you can get for $20.00 off of eBay does 6800 pages is .2c a page (in other words, 5 pages for 1c). Furthermore, the printing speed is out of this world compared to inkjet printing. These are perfect for sharing the printer in an office environment or printing several hundred pages of your new book :)

They are work horses, we have had three 4SIs since 1995 and they are still running strong. Great printers.

HP makes the best printers. This one's a workhorse.

You still see these around the office because they are built well. You only get minor problems like paper jams every so often but keep it serviced it'll last decades. I do recommend a memory upgrade in this day of high memory printing - for 32Mb you will need part number IPEEA02NWT which will cost around £30 ($49)

An excellent laser printer for the home. Tired of waiting for that page to print? You don't have to with the 4 series. And it comes in an affordable package that puts the power of laser printing in four hands.

Very reliable. You can print forever on one toner cartridge. It is very fast, especially if you upgrade the memory. It is pretty small so it doesn't take up that much space.

Excellent for small businesses. A real workhorse. Fast and powerful with 4 pcl emulation. It is often not necessary to have to install other drivers. This is helpful especially when visiting people with laptops hook into your network.

Fast and efficient printing with optional network capability. Good text quality and it doesn't slow much with graphics.

It's great, quality printout without a lot of hassle, rarely jams, almost never need to refill. Only minus is that it's too big, and moving it around at first kinda' sucks.

I have owned HP 4 Laser Printer for the past ten years and it still looks brand new. Have changed the cartridge only once.

This is a durable, reliable product. HP printers, especially this one, give you good resolution, easily replaceable cartridges and paper trays, and long life. The speed is acceptable. I love my HP! "After the nuclear war, there will be rats, roaches, and HP printers." -Anonymous

I have worked with many laser printers over the years and copies too. HP is by far the best. They breakdown less and are not so hard to maintain you need a road map. High quality sharp print without toner problems.

I bought my HP LaserJet 4 ML three years ago, and it has NEVER given me any trouble. It is easy to replace the cartridge, the paper, etc. I also appreciate the cartridge recycling program that HP has set up.

This is the perfect home/school printer. I have had mine for about 7 years, the first 2 of which were while I was in business school. I have printed long papers, PowerPoint presentations, resumes, cover letters, envelopes and have not had a single problem. In addition, when I bought the printer, I assumed that the cartridge would run out quickly so I also purchased a replacement cartridge. The cartridge is still in the box. Recently, I had to bring it in to be fixed, but that was only because it had been damaged during a cross-country move. Lastly, it is quite economical (for an HP Printer). The only negative is that it only prints about 6 pages/minute. However, if you know that when you decide to make the purchase, you shouldn't have a single complaint.

This is the printer I use everyday. Its reasonably fast. The programming for manual printing isn't that great because you have to push the button and wait. It is kind of big and I don't like the fact that you can't use larger size paper.

It prints my papers, so it is good. It's simple, and turns on and off automatically, so I don't turn the switch every time I want to use it. It is very convenient. I just wish it was smaller and the plugs didn't come off as easily.

The printer printed generically well, but broke twice - once in warranty and once out of warranty. Our experience with HP service was a nightmare.
