R.I.P. Howie Mandel, who died in 1989 from an undetermined cause. Chief probable causes of death include soul glow poisoning, getting bludgeoned over the head by fellow "comedian" Gallagher after a lover's quarrel and a swollen prostate due to never having sex again after his HBO special. Also he appeared to have a self inflicted shotgun wound to the face and a bloody, brain filled rubber glove was stretched over his head. Since no one cared whatsoever, no medical examiner was assigned to the case.

Never thought he was funny, but then I never devoted more than a few seconds of ever paying attention to him. I vaguely remember that he would blow up a clear surgical glove (I think that's what it was) and put it over his head so that he looked like a bizarre rooster. Funny? I guess...if you're one of those people that think Paulie Shore was funny. I remember also that he would do something that was supposed to be funny, and the people in the audience would laugh (were they being paid?), and that he would look around with a perplexed half-grin and say, "What? What?"...as if he didn't get what they were amused at. I didn't either. This is what passes for comedy? It's depressing to contemplate that anyone would think so, but I guess in a country where Adam Sandler and David Spade are 2 of America's highest paid and busiest "entertainers", I shouldn't be surprised.

Astonishingly untalented, and about as funny as a stucco bathtub. And he's Canadian, too. Let me apologize for that...

Very nice guy in person. My mom met him in a bar and he had no problem at all signing an autograph for her. Not too sure about him comedy wise but he's a nice guy

Who did Howie blow to get an Emmy nomination for best reality tv host? Mandel is not funny and all he does is answer a telephone.

Must have been the booze "bulldance", I was at the Mohegan show too. Howie was VERY disappointing and not that funny. Yeah there was an occasional good laugh but expected much more. Didn't need to see movie clips at a live show either. I thought Howie does a big improv show and that is why he wasn't that funny but, from reading the other posts it sounds like it's the same act for the most part. Too much nonsense with the audience participation, it slowed things down alot. The opening act, John Mendoza, was hilarious and put Howie to shame would have preferred to watch him for the whole show. If anyone could figure out the name of that song that plays before the show starts I will pay money!

Funny, funny stuff. Maybe it was all the free booze at the casino or the fact that I was up 300 bills from Craps, but I thought the show was hilarious. He did some Deal or No Deal bits and responded to hecklers quite well. His Bobby (from Bobby's World for you old folks) voice was hilarious. Definitely loved the show. 11/17/07 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

Same jokes since 1980's. Very disapointing. If you ever seen him before than dont see him again. He asks the audiece questoins to which he clearly knows the answers becuase he's done it 1000 times. It comes across very phony. It was fresh in 1980 but it clearly isn't fresh or edgy anymore.

I saw Howie on 4/14/007 in Salamanca, NY. Needless to say i was a big Howie fan, I was so disappointed. Too much audience discussion that took up his show...which was very annoying. I don't mind a occasional swear word, but I've seen Howie before, and I was shocked how many times he used the f word and frankly he just wasn't funny. The comedian that opens for him was funnier. Sorry you had to travel all this way Howie in the puckerbush to give a crappy show..Hopefully it was just a bad night for you...I've seen you a lot funnier..Oh don't show me clips of your pranks at a live show...I watch them on TV I came to see you live.

Saw Howie at Washington State University on 4/14/2007... I think the NY show was on Friday night btw. Anyways, it was a good time. I still have that damn song stuck in my head that he replayed over and over for like 15 minutes. Anyone know who sang that stupid song?!? Anyways... lots of crowed involvement, but nothing new from what I have seen in clips of him. Wish he would have kept the clips out of the show... not very entertaining. The first guy who came up was cool and funny. Lots of mature content for sure, but it says it on the tickets "mature content" so if you don't like the dirty mouth than you shouldn't have came! Anyways... someone find out who sings that annoying ass song!!!

Saw Howie at the Mont Bleu in Tahoe this past weekend. My wife and I have seen a lot of comedians, and Howie just doesn't cut the mustard. The opened, Mendoza, I would have preferred to listen to. Howie is all hands and redirects off the main parody. Basically he is a male Ellen DeGeneres. Start/Stop redirect go back. Annoying really.

anyone who thinks this guy is funny obviously is suffering from a nerological weakness. he has a germ problem? give me a break, most bactria are transmitted airborn, i guess not from his audience? the nbc show....joke...aside from my education, i feel sorry for those of you who actually graduated that think this guy is funny. whatever

Unlike Bill Murray and John Cleese (two other very amusing individuals), stand-up IS Howie Mandel's forte. I also have very fond memories of seeing him live (before he had enjoyed much success) at a small hole-in-the-wall comedy club in Westwood, California. He was very adroit and naturally skilled at dealing with a crowd. I was sitting at the corner of the small stage in the front row. My friends had taken me out for my 20th birthday. Howie Mandel let me and my girlfriend have it unmercifully ... and he was funny! I took a a verbal beating but he had the crowd rolling. Even as a kid, I could appreciate the guy's obvious talent and skill at speaking off-the-cuff in front of a live audience, despite the fact that I was largely the target of his humor. He was genuinely entertaining.

Howie is extremely funny but his show is not for kids. If you go to see him live forget Bobby's World. He has been doing bits on the Tonight Show and they are really funny. Update: I just saw Howie last week live for the very first time and he was very funny. The unfortunate thing was certain members of the audience that heckled him through out the show. Howie said during the show that with all the big shows in town this audience chose to see him perform. I guess the MGM Grand Hollywood Theater is a tough room and the next time I see Howie it will not be there.

Howie's arms flail when he talks and it's so distracting I keep forgetting what he's talking about because I'm watching his arms. Stop it, Howie.

Mandel's schtick: Not Funny. I lost respect for him when he said some particularly lewd remarks to June Lockhart. But I remember when he was on St. Elsewhere and some dude tied him to a chair and gagged him -- Now that was funny.

One of the unfunniest comedians in the history of the craft. He might have been funny to his customers 20 years ago when he sold carpets in Toronto. However, this seems unlikely.

I can't figure out how this guy ever got a chance to disgrace himself on TV and in nightclubs. And 20+ years later he's still as funny as being surprised by an empty toilet paper roll.

When he was doing stand-up he was very funny. Now the only thing I see him doing is those hidden-camera pranks, which not only are not funny but they're down right mean.
