The only brand of hot dog that I like the taste of, is "Nathan's" all beef. They aren't overly salty. I love to make pretzel dogs out of them, cloning Aunt Annie's recipe for pretzel dog's! Here in the North East, most popular are the Smith's hot dogs. But I can't stand those, too rubbery. My favorite way to have them is with ketchup, onion and a bit of mustard. Second favorite way is with chili, diced onion, shredded cheese, ketchup & mustard.

The smell of hot dogs makes me gag. I can't even look at a hot dog, that's how much I hate them. If my husband has made hot dogs, even after going through extreme pains to clean everything used in their preparation, the second I come home I know he's made them. That's how sensitive I am to the smell. Remembering the taste (and I literally haven't eaten one in somewhere between 25-30 years) makes me cringe. Nasty little fuckers.

If made properly...Start with a package of weiners. Either Nathan's or Hebrew National. Grill them on the barbeque or on a Foreman's style cooker. Add your favorite condiments and chow down. The Hebrew National weiners that are reduced fat are pretty good but avoid the no fat ones...no flavor and like chewing an eraser.

No where near my favorite, but it'll do in a pinch. You gotta trust the place that you get it from, of course, and brand is actually important. And it's gotta either have ketchup, mustard AND relish on it . . . or chili. Chili's good, too.

Kamy's hot dog sounds good, but I'll pass on the chili. I like melted cheese on my dog, too.

I have to be in the mood to have a hotdog. It really depends on the brand too. some brands are just plain nasty tasting. Others are better such as Koegel, barbequed turns out nice. and sometimes a chili can be good. Not my number one choice for a sandwhich but if made up just right, it is fine.

The hot dog, when made correctly, is an All American classic! At home we always eat Nathan's hot dog's. They just taste better to me. In Los Angeles, the place to eat a hot dog is Pink's. They are world famous and live up to the hype. Nathan's in New York is another great place to grab a hot dog. The Weinershnitzel chain is good in a pinch. I prefer to eat my hot dogs Chicago Style (an authentic Chicago dog uses Vienna hot dogs)with cucumbers, chilies, onion, and a special bright green relish, that only seems to be served at places that specialize in Chicago's. A kraut Dog or chili cheese dog, both run a close second.
