I can't speak for the whole windtunnel line. We bought the Hoover Platinum Collection cyclonic bagless, model UH70015. This is hands down the best vacuum we've ever owned. We had a top of the line Bissell and a Kirby before this purchase. The ammount of dirt it pulled from our carpets was absolutely sickening. The way the permenant filter system works is inspired. I had to clean the filters on the Bissell almost every time we used it. The finer dirt particles are trapped in the canister on the Hoover and never make it to clog the filter. The clean sensor works great, telling you if it is picking up any dirt or just moving air. The cord is extra long so there is less moving from outlet to outlet. With three children, a Great Dane and an English Mastiff in our home, the vacuum gets a pretty good workout. And, with that in mind, it comes with a six year warranty. I'm sure there are some cheaper vacuums in the windtunnel line. And only an idiot doesn't know you get what you pay for. But ... Read more

We bought this vacuum with Christmas money from Target and are HIGHLY disappointed. We cannot find our receipt and therefor cannot return it. We were told by Target that since the vacuum is over $70 we have to contact the manufacturer. Hoover said that they would send a label for us to mail it back to them to have engineer's look at it but it's been three weeks and nothing has come. The first night we used it the brushes stopped spinning. We noticed that the belt had come off and took the bottom of the vacuum apart. We reattached the belt and wondered if the vacuum was missing a part because there was nothing to hold the belt on. We tried to use it again and the belt came off again. DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM!

I purchased this vacuum approx 3 yrs ago. After having to replace the switch 3 times, have it to be serviced for the dirt sensor three times ,replace belt after belt and dealt with the horrible burning smell- I finally gave up. I thought this was the worst vacuum ever invented. I had no idea how bad it was until I bought a Dyson DC14. I routinely vacuum the main area of my house 2-3 times a week and the bedrooms once a week. I was so outraged by the filth in the carpet after using the dyson just once. The canister is currently full and my living area is only 2100 sq. feet. Shows how well the Windtunnel has been working for us the past 3 yrs! If there was a rating below terrible- I would have chosen that. I am half tempted to empty the canister in the dyson into an envelope and send the dirt to Hoover just to show them the quality of their product. DO NOT waste your money on this vacuum- it does not perform. Spend the extra 100.00 and buy the dyson- 5 yr warranty on all parts... Read more

With all the hype, I purchased this windtunnel vacuum. I was so excited about it, with the dirt senor light and all. I had only used it maybe 5 times when something inside started burning and smelling. Can't find my receipt, and Sears can't find it on their computer either, now go figure, so it is collecting dust in the closet. I had purchased a bagless dirt devel for under $50 as a house warming gift for my daughter, it is still working after a year. I think I will go and buy one. Buying a windtunnel is a waste of time and hard earned money.

I started out with a top of the line windtunnel self propelled with a dirt sensor and paid for the extra warranty (Best Buy). The dirt sensor gave out after a while so I brought it in. They sent it back for repair but then said I needed a replacement so they gave me what they had which was the model without a dirt sensor!? I was assured this was the only comparable model. This lasted a while before the self propelled cable mechanism broke off down by the motor. My inspection of it revealed the cable was improperly adjusted too short and did not allow the handle to travel all the way back. Everytime you pulled on the handle it pulled directly on the mechanism without any sort of hard stop at the handle. Guaranteed to fail set up like that. Best Buy sent it back for repair but then said I needed a replacement again!?. Now the only comparable model they stocked was a pusher!? No Hoover Self Propelled models or dirt sensor models in their lineup!? They should pay me for accepting a downgra... Read more

I despise this vacuum, as it's the least user-friendly one I've ever used. On hardwood floors, if the handle isn't at the exact angle,it sucks so hard to the floor it won't move. The cord comes out of the machine right at the floor, so you always step on it. I fight this machine every time I use it, and because of that, it causes a lot of back pain. It doesn't even come w/ a hard floor head-you have to buy one if you want one!!! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!

Since day one, it screeched. I took it in for repair and it worked without noise for a short time, now again, the same noise. It smells like rubber burning, it's hard to push, it's heavy. To change the filter cartridge is messy. Overall, disappointing for an appliance close to $500.

I hate this vacuum. The self propeller stops working and it smells like something is burning even though it still works but it needs a lot of efforts pushing and pulling around. It cost me a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

We had a Hoover Windtunnel vaccum once before and it kept burning out switches. It burned a total of 4 switches in its lifetime. My mother paid over two hundred dollars for that vaccum. If you want a good budget vaccum, i suggest purchasing a Bissell Powerforce bagless vaccum at WalMart for under sixty five dollars. It is a much better value than spending over two hundred dollars plus vaccum bags.

I hate this vacuum cleaner. Short extension hose for accessories. Keep pulling machine on top of me. Terrible suction, have to go over same spots several times. Causes me to cuss like a sailor. Can't wait to buy a new machine which will be anything but a Hoove Windtunnel.

It started out as a wonderful vacum, picked up well and easy to empty. But after 2 years the brushes just suddenly stopped working, the suction is not what it used to be. It's now worhless and has to be replaced.

this vacuum is poor quality and doesn't clean very well either. i think that that the brushroll does more work than the sucktion. i have fixed way too many of these also this is comming from an educated consumer and i like to add that this i s a copy off of dysons orininal design. and the hoover is a poor copy . if u want the best try a dyson i garentee it will beat the pants off any hoover

Mine is three years old and must be replaced (I'm not willing to pay the $200 to get it fixed.) I've phoned 5 different repair places and they have all told me that my model was one of the worst vacuum cleaners ever built.

This vaccumm is one powerful machine but, also fools the consumer. I do vaccumm on all types and this hoover can only go so far down where we think all the dirt lays but, wrongly I was in tring an Electrolux canstier. The 9000 E-lux brought up lots of dirt that the hoover didn't. Oh yeah I know have 5 year warrenty parts and labor and a great machine. The Hoover been proven to leak out germs through the HEPA filter.

Just got a Windtunnel bagless. WHOA! I don't think I've ever been this excited about an appliance before! Great cleaning and SO easy to dump out the cannister. Well worth the money. The carpet looks almost like it was steam cleaned!

Ive done alot of research on HOOVER WINDTUNNEL UPRIGHTS and found out that there are several models including the one i purchased U6425-920. This unit is the top rated model in January 2001 Consumer Reports. It was also the top rated vac in Dateline NBC's study on vacuums in 2000. It is self propelled, very easy to push, has excellent suction power,an agitator shutoff switch for bare floors and tool usage and excellent for people with allergies.... the vacuum captures 100% of dust mites, 99.98% of ragweed and pollens. There are several different Windtunnel Uprights. You can tell the better featured models by the units MACH RATING. The higher the MACH, the more features and benefits in the vacuum. I saw a credit card test in the store comparing the suction at the end of the hose compared to the other top brand vacuums. My Windtunnel pulled the credit card away from the other vac everytime!! Hope this info is helpful!
