Honda CRV

Great car for the money.

Bought a 2007 CRV to go along with our 1994 Accord (which is still going at 180k + miles), and we love it. For the price, it's unbeatable. It's great to sit up high, have tight sedan-like handling and a versatile interior (the back seats fold/tumble to make a big cargo area), wide-opening doors with step-in seating, and a very peppy engine that gets nearly 30 mpg on the highway. The 2007 redesign was just what we wanted: no more boxy shape, no spare tire hanging off the back, a hatch that opens upwards, and an ipod jack is now standard. So what if we don't get the old picnic table anymore? With the all-wheel drive option, the V has been a very capable and fun car in the snow as well--slap the skis and snowboards on the roof rack and we're off. Okay, there are maybe a couple of drawbacks to the CRV. The ride quality is fairly stiff, not at all a luxurious, posh feel going over bumps or uneven pavement. 4/21/08 I have owned a 2000 CRV and traded it with 72,000 miles on it for the current 2004 CRV which now has 41,000 miles on it. I have had no trouble from either of them. They are maintenance free as long as you change your oil and filter every 3,000 miles. I like it because it is the best vehicle for shorter drivers (around 5'2") because I can actually see over the hood. I like the way the hood slants down a little so I can see over it and the dash is not too high to see over. TheCRV does good on gas mileage but if you plan to tow anything, you don't want this vehicle for that purpose. It is a good, reliable vehicle. I really wish that Honda would wake up and come out with decent colors. They only have the basic white, black, red, and silver mostly and most of them have a very ugly light colored (some saddle) interior that gets dirty easy. A nice vehicle overall. It's awkward styling and lack of V6 power may be off-putting to some, but other than that it's one of the best vehicles in it's class.

We have the 2005 CRV and up until this month have loved it. Last week the air conditioning stopped working.... we live in Oklahoma and it's been over 100 degrees most of this month.... it cost us $1800 to replace the air. The mechanic who works on our cars said this is a common problem with the CRV but not any other honda models. He also said to be careful of the transmission. He has another customer with a 2001 CRV with 93,000 miles on it that needs a new transmission. Ours already has 58,000 miles... we will probably trade our CRV in to avoid having to do deal with anymore big ticket fixes. We bought the honda based on their great reputation... that was a mistake.

I'm a big guy. It doesn't fit. My wife does fine in it. It has been expensive to maintain -$2,400 for AC compressor replacement. $66 fush radiator, $140 to "service fuel induction", there has been a pitter patter of smaller bills. We 2 other Honda that got GOOD mileage and just didn't have to be fixed, now this one, probably our last Honda.

I own a 98' Honda crv. All I can say is I've "NEVER" had a single problem, except for minor stuff, ie; battery,tune-up etc. The only thing I don't like is no arm rest on driver side & the "tv tray" type middle console. a+ on reliability!

I love this car...my first car ever and let me tell you....I get so many good comments about the way it feels, looks, drives. I honestly think my lil silver honda crv...can hear them...and she knows its all true....HONDA CRVS RULE!

I have a 2002 CRV, base model, and am wanting to sell it because it's not comfortable and because of recent maintenance issues (I had a 1992 Accord that I loved before the CRV and never had problems like I do with the CRV). About 6 months after I bought it brand new, I would hear a scraping noise in the right front when I turn left. I brought it back to the dealer who sold me the car and took it to two other Honda service centers and no one could tell me what the problem was or could they fix it. Last month, I took it in for its 60,000 mile check up and was told told i need a new motor mount - the rubber side has a big crack in it (cost to repair close to $180). I also have problems with the key lock on the driver's side. The key gets jammed. I asked about the cost to replace the tumberls and it would be over $200. The Honda service tech asked if I felt these problems were something I didn't expect and that he would contact Honda and file a report. This car less than 4 years old... Read more

I was looking for a vehicle with more space and utility. Ironcially I was driving an RX8 and also wanted to improve my gas mileage. My sights focused on the small SUV class so I began studying the 18 different models and drove several. After statistically comparing them and driving the top rated ones, I came home with a 2005 CRV SE. It is a basic type of SUV but lends itself more to the urban/suburban driver who needs utility - the vast majority of SUV drivers actually. The ride is carlike and it has up to 72 cu ft of cargo space - more than some larger SUV's. I just got my second tank of gas and am averaging 21mpg with AC and in city driving. The power is acceptable - stats say -0 to 60 in 8.5 secs. which is no hot rod but fine really. Towing is only 1500 pounds and the 4WD is just fine for anything I would do. There are people who use these for offroad runs in Australia (saw in magazine) but I would recommend a Xterra or a Liberty it you do that a lot but beware of their MPG. If you ... Read more

The way the car was built saved my life. After the first one was totaled, I went out and bought another.

I really liked mine. I believe it now comes with a V6 engine also, which helps!

I don't actually own one, but have driven one on a long trip. If I had to get an SUV, this would be it. It drives like a Honda Civic, is very tight and roomy on the inside. And Honda included some nice perks, like that picnic table. Nice choice of colors too.

I have a 2003 CRV, and I really love it, especially all the space and the additions. The downfall about it is that it is only a V4, I would imagine that since it is an SUV, it should have a little more power. But overall Great Car!

This is the best SUV on earth.

The CRV is a great little vehicle. The early model CRV was sort of unappealing and underpowered, but the 2002 remedies those faults. Like all of the Hondas I have owned (two previous, plus an absolutely fantastic Honda lawn mower!), it is very reliable.

wow! beats all the others hands down!! We love it. The 2004crv-ex sport beats all for saftey,cargo,miliage comfort. I drove the rest and i brought the best.

I researched mid-size SUVs for 8 months beore buying my CRV. Major deciding factors for me were safety ratings and repair records for the line of cars. I'm always amazed at people who spend no time researching these two things before they buy! The CRV has top ratings for both safety and repair record, great gas mileage, A+ resale value, comfortable seats and ride and ease of changing seats for loading space. I think people who complain of the power of the car (and it is less powerful than many) just need more power, either for personal gratification or existing driving habits. I don't need more power than this car has! I love my CRV, and I think I drove them all before buying.

Its good as an on road "SUV", but lacks sport and utlity. Where's the V6? How many pounds can it tow on a V-4? Get a real SUV, like a Escape.

I have a 1998 Honda CRV and it is still going strong. I bought it when I worked at a Honda dealership and got a great deal, I just had to get two new tires after 4 years and 40,000 miles,it has been in numerous trips. I have 3 kids and though it is a little snug they love it also

I bought it because I wanted more room for hauling, as in "utility vehicle." It does that job just fine, has enough power for regular usage, and isn't so large that I need my own area code to park in. It also has a lot better gas milage then most SVUs, which may not be too important to some, but was an important factor in my decision. The 2002's also look a lot better then the previous models. I'm not planning to go up any mountains with it. The RAV4 was the other option and a good choice, but I liked the way the CRV folds down for storage a lot better.

Best small-ute out there.

Looked at and test drove the thing... had the best "in-town" feel of all the ones I've driven, but the lack of power, the 80's styling (inside and out) and pricey sticker made an easy decision for me to keep looking. Might have been a winner with "Soccer Mom's" during the Reagan Era...

what a CRAP of car!! honda just made a cheap copy of the RAV4 with the taillights of a Volvo all in the UGLIEST BOX WITH WHEELS i've ever seen!! These people couldn't even made their own font for the logo, instead they decided to use the same font of the original RAV4..!! LOOSERS!!!

Excellent SUV for the price. Currently leasing for $240 a month.

Performance is ok compared to other small SUVs. Very limited options and no moon roof. Styling is a bit dated. I've always disliked the back end. The raised tail-lights look cheap and fragile.

Ugh! The styling of a minivan, and fake 4WD. Stay away!

GREAT VEHICLE BUT EVEN WITH POWER INCREASE FOR 1999, DOWNSHIFTS WHILE ON CRUISE CONTROL ON HILLY ROADS

Not much horsepower or leg room but overall a fun, sporty vehicle. Plenty of storage are in back. Fold up table is a nice touch.

We have one and like it but needs more power.

The Honda CRV is an expertly made car. It handles very well.

Honda doesn't deserve to make SUVs

Honda CRV's have the look of a hard core sport utility vehicle, but have the perfomance of my 3 year old sister's tricycle.

From personal driving experience this car is great. Cupholders, storage galore. Love the table. Can even put ice in a storage box. Instrumentation is very good. I don't like that the window buttons are near steering wheel. Major problem is power. They need to offer a much more powerful engine. The V-tee engine could be used.

Honda CRV-Maintains resale value and is more comfortable than others in its class-Practical vehicle and uses less gas than larger SUVs.

Honda CRV's are the ugliest things I have ever seen.
