Tue Mar 15 2011Stories of the past intrigue me – especially if they involve at least a modicum of human interest. Long boring lectures on wars, speeches and political BS generally will leave me cold and ready to zone. Still, I can say I had and still have an interest in history. It was when I discovered the amazing world of Art History however, that it came alive for me.

Mon Mar 14 2011Alot of people can spit up factoids, dates, quotes, and all other manner of things, but the bigger picture of it is like putting together a chain. Most people can't do it. History moves, its not just this happened on thus and such a date. I like seeing two events hundreds, even thousands of years apart and being able to tell how they are related and what events in between them influenced the eventual outcomes of our time. I like looking at what we've done in our own time and speculating on how it will be viewed over time to come. All of this takes thinking, of course, which is why so many people think history sucks. I understand that some of you with a brain just ain't interested and that's understandable, but a greater portion of people just can't digest it on its most useful level.

Sun Mar 13 2011I've always loved studying history to the point that during my senior year of high school I wanted to take an elective class on the constitution. I had enough credits/classes that I really didn't need the class and I was the only person to sign up for it. They canceled the class and I was annoyed because I really wanted to take it.

Fri Mar 11 2011Its easy, but anything before the 1900's, especially dealing with europe, bores the HELL out of me, i know what those dumbfucks did back in year of the fag in the 1600's have supposedly shaped this society we have today, but i realy don't see the point why we really should know or even care about them i had a chapter in history and i swear to god it mentioned king louis at least 500+ times, its bullcrap, and old europes events are the most confusing, and are pointless to even learn to care about. i swear people in the past made up real long complicated names and did stuff in a certain complicated way specifically to piss us off for whoever has too unfortunately learn about them

Sat Dec 15 2007I seemed to have done pretty well in this subject. Mostly because I found it interesting. I think that has a lot to do with whether a person does well on any subject.

Tue Oct 31 2006I always enjoyed history in high school, and at one point I had actually considered adding a history minor in college. But my first history professor in college was awful, and it kind of turned me away from taking history classes for a while. It's too bad though, because I didn't take another history class until my junior year, and even though I loved it (History of the U.S. through 1865), it was just too late to add a history minor. And now that I'm in grad school, I just don't have time to take classes that aren't physics, computer science, or math.

Wed Mar 15 2006Aside from my foreign languages, these courses were always my favorite to be in. I'm not sure if they were simply, easy, or if I found it SO interesting that I never noticed how challenging it was.

Wed Mar 15 2006When I was in elementary school, this subject was labeled as "social studies." I hated every moment of it. History finally clicked for me when I was 12 and I went to visit the San Diego History Museum and they had an exhibit on World War II, which fascinated me. And the rest is history...pun intended. However, my fascination lies mainly with modern Europe.
