I went in to get a full highlight, and a cut. Valerie explained exactly what she was going to do and gave me the personalized attention needed when doing a drastic hair change, and was very reassuring. She gave me the BEST cut I've ever had in my life, and the ease she did it with was astounding! She was very careful not to damage my hair anymore than was necessary with bleaching, etc, which I was truly grateful for! The prices are extremely reasonable, in my opinion, and anyone who thinks they are overpriced should think about what is more worth it; a $5 latte from Starbuck's every morning, or YOUR HAIR, which makes of breaks ya! ;) Take it from someone who's been cheap with their hair and suffered for it, (ultimately having to pay more), GO TO HIRSUTE!! ^_^

Been going to Hirsute for 12 years. Love the time he spends with me when I get bored with my hair! Have also had my hair colored for 12 years and it always looks great. Can't go wrong making an appointment here. Anyone who has ever worked there is fanstatic. Jimmy has a very clear idea of what he wants his clients to experience, so he is very choosy in hiring anyone that works in the salon. To quote Frank Sinatra "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere". Thanks to Tracy for her patience in showing me how to use products in my hair.

I have loved this place for three years now and went last weekend to get a haircut, I was 15 minutes late to the appointment and I did call in to let them know. Jimmy always knows what I need but this time my bangs are a disaster because they look as if I snipped them off with a saw and the reason I didn't notice it at the salon was because his assistant was a sweetheart to set the straightener on after she dried my hair so he could straighten my bangs because I was going out after but he said he couldn't do it since he didn't want the next customer to be waiting!! I mean I completely understand and apologized that I was late but I have been there many times to at least have him do me that favor and it would have taken just a minute. I am a student so I don't have a car and I can't afford to pay the cab to drop by to have him look at it and what can he do even after he looks at it, I mean my bangs are SO short! Really enjoyed getting my haircut this past weekend at Hirsute Salon. this was my first visit in but definetely not my last. my hair looks great, easy to maintain so far and my experience there was enjoyable. nice to see that good customer service still exists..highly recommended.

WOW!! FINALLY!! After getting my hair butchered all over town I finally found a place where they know what theyre doing...Halleluhah!!

Got another nice haircut from this salon over the weekend. This was my 3rd visit. I like that Jimmy seems to enjoy creating new haircuts upon each visit. Received many compliments at work on my new cut..Staff seemed to work as a team and I felt pampered.

Valerie just started at Hirsute and she is great. With 8 years experience, she made me feel fabulous! This salon is so comfortable and cool, without being too edgy. The building is my favorite in Rochester, the "flatiron" where you will also find Edible's and Starry Nights! Everyone is so nice. I love that I can have my eyebrow waxing done at the same place as my cut and color, and Valerie does it all! I can't wait to go see the new artwork at my next appointment! See you there! I got my haircut by Jimmy this afternoon and I was very happy. This was my first visit to this salon and it was just as I was expecting after reading some of the positive reviews. The salon seemed very busy but I never felt rushed or hurried. The entire staff there seemed very attentive to me and very friendly. The salon was very nicely designed and full of positive energy that I felt as soon as I arrived. My haircut was better than I ever thought possible. I highly reccommend this salon.

I have had the same medium-length haircut for most of my life and wanted to try something new. I was fairly nervous about getting it cut short because I usually wear it up. Wendy immediately put me at ease with such a drastic change and made me very excited to see what it would look like. Instead of picking a cut from a magazine, she told me what she thought would work well with my hair, so I went with her opinion. She spent an hour and a half on me. I had a great time talking with her; she's so friendly and personable. She showed me how to style my hair curly or straight and recommended some good products. I bought one (all-natural volumizer that works great). They don't take credit cards but said I could just mail a check. I was so pleased with the style and it was well worth the money (about $40). It was the most expensive and BEST haircut so far and I plan on going nowhere else.

I recently attended the annual Artwalk festival and discovered this truly special hair salon. What a unique place! Very cool art work on the walls lends to the modern decor. Very friendly staff and great listeners. I was treated to a delicious cup of coffee, had a wonderful head massage/shampoo and got the best haircut of my life. I appreciated their combination of listening to my concerns and helpful suggestions.

Tried this salon today after reading positive reviews and I am very satisfied. I enjoyed the intimate environment and attention to detail. But best of all, i LOVE my haircut and new color!!

I dont usually write user reviews but felt compelled to after my experience at this salon. I found Hirsute salon from this website after being unhappy with my former hairdresser. I knew I had found the right place as soon as I stepped inside. Jimmy is 1 of the best I've ever been to. Believe me when I tell you this is the salon you've been looking for.

This place is great!! I felt comfortable the minute I stepped foot inside. I was treated to the best haircut ,best hair color and best blowdry. I loved the personalized service. I also liked the fact that they specialize in haircutting and coloring.

My heading says it all.. but let me add, that I am a person who gets crazy over my hair.. I wake up thinking about it and go to bed worrying how it looks.. compulsive you may say. I am not afraid to tell a stylist that the haircut is no good or cause a scene if I am not happy... At Hirsute Hair Salon, located in the Arts District of downtown Rochester, I need not have worried as I have been saved. Jimmy Rossi the owner (ask for him) cut my hair with such precision, that I need only wake up and go.. now that is a haircut. I also had my hair colored as well and was extremely satisfied. Do yourself a favor skip all the rest, this is the very best, Rochester has to offer... Reasonable, good parking... fantastic atmosphere... superior

Just returned from my first visit to Hirsute Salon after hearing about them on this site. Definetely lived up to the hype. I felt comfortable and at ease the minute I stepped foot in the door. The parking was great and the neighborhood is artsy. The salon has a nyc feel to it and is very intimate which I loved. The owner Jimmy Rossi cut and hilited my hair exactly the way we discussed. Our consultation was wonderful as I felt I had his undivided attention. He made some great suggestions and also listened to what I had to say. I loved that he even taught me some styling tips so I could re create what he had done. The salon was so clean which I really appreciated. The price was more than fair and the best money that I have spent in quite some time. They even host regular art shows every 2 months. Thanks to all for the recommendation!

This sensational, very hip salon is located in the Arts District. Modern, relaxing and very professional. I got Best Haircut, and Best Color ever. Everyone was so helpful and relaxed, it felt like I was visiting family instead of a business. Do your self a favor and give them a call, if you are looking for a great new look!

I am a photographer who works in New York City, I have had my hair cut by the best, but on a recent trip to see family in Rochester, I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a hair salon located in a fantastic flat iron building. It was as if Ihad never left the big city. Jimmy Rossi, the owner is a master with his scissors. Definetly ask for him. The salon was very warm, relaxed, but totally hip!!

my hair never looked and felt so good. they really know what they are doing with color. i highly recommend them if you want fabulous hilites!!!!!!

Impeccable service, artistic decor, and just about the best haircut I have every had., and it didn't make a big dent in my wallet. I spend a lot of time on my hair, I am truly obsessed. I happened on Hirsute Salon when it was recommended to me by a friend. Tired of the uppity salons who offer you attitude and little else, it was such a treat to find Expertise, Professionalism, On Time Appointments and a GREAT HAIRCUT, at this wonderful Salon. The atmosphere is most relaxing with adorable tables and chairs to sit and sip a cup of Joe and Read the lastest Mag. Now that is HAIRCUT HEAVEN!! I will return!!

This shop is FIRST CLASS all the way. Aside from it's atmosphere being of the most friendly and inviting kind, I got the best haircut of my life. I felt like a million and looked it too. The price was fair, but I would pay much more for how I felt afterwards. The owner Jimmy Rossi, has his way with the scissors, and could give Vidal Sassoon some competion. HIGHLY RECOMMEND...!
