Wed Feb 04 2009I used my HMO referral service to find Hillcrest Family Dental. I scheduled what I thought would be a routine check-up/initial consultation. What I found instead was over 2 hours of high pressure sales tactics to try to get me to have unnecessary & expensive procedures done. After getting my x-rays taken I was taken into an office where a ?Treatment Coordinator? has you watch these series of videos about all these potential fatal things that could result if you don?t have these procedures done. After about almost an hour of these sales tactics the Dentist comes in and continues with the sales pitch. She basically states that I have no cavities or anything major but recommends this deep cleansing procedure that includes an ?Arestin? (antibiotic therapy treatment) which my insurance does not cover. Why I was there the Dentist talked me into having a $65.00 procedure that supposedly recognizes pre-cancerous cells in your mouth & gums. Again, not covered by my insurance and it invol... Read more

Sun Jan 04 2009hillcrest family dental will rip you off in my opinion. i paid them over $2,000 because they scared me and said I needed an extensive cleaning which would require numbing and medication. my teeth have always been perfect. they scared me so much and I had just gotten the new insurance, so like an idiot, i believed them. the procedure was painful. it was unnecessary and costly. very costly.

Mon Sep 08 2008So I went in for xrays and a check up, but the cleaning would be done at another time. Interesting but okay. I have the first appointment of the day and have to wait for 45 minutes. Obnoxious, but I am here so I will wait. X-rays go fine. Dental Assistant comes in and can't really see the cavities I know I have, maybe she is just learning- so I point them out. She takes pictures with a camera and says the dentist will be in soon. The dentist comes in and says I don't need fillings, I need crowns maybe even root canals. But lay ins are more recommended, which are a little more expensive but worth it. She tells me my teeth are awful but she will give me a beautiful smile since that is what people first notice about you. The assistant comes back and goes over the pricing for the recommended procedures including the deep cleaning which is nearly $10, 000! Wow, interesting my last dentist never pointed this stuff out!!! So, I call later to say that I just want a regular cleaning not a deep... Read more

Mon Aug 18 2008Every time I arrived for an appointment I had to wait in the reception area for at least 30 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. The dentist that did my cleaning could barely speak English and had trouble pronouncing simple words. Before my cleaning one of the assistants handed me a pair of goggles. I asked why I needed goggles for a cleaning. He replied that the cleaning tool sprays a little water. The tool my dentist used for a simple cleaning sounded like nails on a chalkboard; it spewed water all over my face and clothes. After I was done I felt like I had just taken a shower and needed another one. I have had many teeth cleanings in my life and none were as terrible as this. I will never go back again.

Tue Mar 04 2008Who am I to argue with a doctor? Always do what the doctor orders, right? Well the dentists at Hillcrest Family Dentistry are more like salesmen than doctors. I was told I needed deep cleaning because my former dentist must not have been doing a good job. In addition to a deep cleaning, I needed to purchase a $125 electric toothbrush, which they conveniently sold me. And I should be seen every three months, instead of the standard six months. Doctor knows best. When my bonding came loose I asked them if they could repair it. They gave me an appointment and were kind enough to charge me $100 for the examination. They told me that I needed to come back in a few weeks for a temporary veneer and then a few weeks after that for a permanent veneer at a cost of more than $1,000. No thanks, I said, a bonding would be fine. A bonding only cost about $250. The dentist said a veneer would look better, not so subtly implying the less expensive bonding would look ugly. No thank... Mon Nov 12 2007I went in for my first 'check up' after changing insurance providers. My initial Dentist was fantastic, so I reluctantly changed. Without looking in my mouth I was told I needed Deep Cleaning, when I challenged the Hygienist saying I didn't need it and that my last dentist said my teeth were in excellent shape with 1-2 gum levels allround, she got defensive. She then put a camera in my mouth saying look at the TV, I said I didn't care to see, but she said 'No you have too'. She then left the room leaving me to watch a brainwashing DVD on Periodontis Disease, that she said I should watch, jeeeeeez. Followed by other priming visuals of 'Before' and 'After' shots including brand new hair dos in the 'Afters', lol. So there's me, sat there, chest pounding, knowing something was amiss...I got up and left as I said there was an emergency, there was, it was about to happen in my mouth. I didn't give the 'Doctor' chance to confirm my 'fears' that were just brainwashed via visuals and dvd presen... Read more
