Teens have sex because of the hormones, not to be cool! When I lost my virginity I thought I would die from embarrassment! Everyone thought I was a nasty little whore! Dude that's not a "cool" image for me.

Pleasure is probably the only good consequence of teenage sex, and that statement isn't always true. I know guys seem to brag about having sex as a teenager, but most girls I've ever seriously talked to about this have said they regret having sex when they did. I know woman who love sex, but say they wish they had waited a little longer to have sex. There are too many physical and emotional consequences for teenagers to take sex lightly.

I almost fainted when my sister was telling me about my niece who just started High school and already boys her age are talking about whose going to be the first to have sex, AT 12!!!! Half of those teenagers that say they've lost their virginity at a young age are lying and as parents its about time we educated our children about the perils of sex and the repsonsibilities that go with it and not just leave it up to sex education at school - I mean honestly who better to educate them about this, as we - as adults- have all had first-hand experience. If your not open with your kids about sex then they'll find someone else to talk to about it and this might not be the right person to educate them and this is where things start to go horribly wrong.

Well, I can't judge others - I can only speak for myself. I did some stupid things when I was younger, but having sex isn't one of them. I didn't have sex to "look cool." I had sex because I was horny and really liked the girl I was with. We took precautions. We knew about STDs, even before the AIDS scenario. Didn't brag about it to friends. Can't speak for the girls, but I came out of it just fine, and I'm grateful to them for the memories. Maybe if grown-ups didn't freak out about sex so often, the kids would approach it with more maturity.

I'm with History. Just because they have the urge, does NOT mean that they are responsible on knowledgeable enough to participate. Surveys show that most sexually active teens know NOTHING about STD's and still think that they can't get pregnant the firts time, or that it simply won't happen to them. They need education, not hands-on experience.

It's fun, it's dumb, it's a biological imperative, it doesn't fit well in modern society, there is a lot of pressure to do it, there are a lot of bad consequences that can come out of it. I'm not a prude, but the kids should keep their pants on as long as possible. If your're gonna do it anyway, be safe.

Uh, I did it because it was fun not because of any dumb concepts of 'cool'. . .Americans sure are uncomfortable with the sexual appetites of others. . .

My neighbor Tom found out his teenage son was having sex. I guess he went to the store right away, and bought a box of condoms for his son. Without acting like he knew what his son was up to, he gave the box of condoms to his son, and said: Use Them!

Just because their hormones are raging doesn't mean they're ready.
