Thu Jun 10 2010The local H-D dealer tells me that the 2005 is the last one you could add a matching tach to, with a bracket for the tach and the speedo. It is NUTS that you can't do that with an '06 or later. This is why I'm looking for an '05, that hasn't been messed up. By the way, for the youngsters here, though the Dyna Glide is the best of the recent Harleys, the best Harley ever made was the incredibly wonderful FXRS. IMHO it's a disgrace that they stopping making that masterpiece. -- Bill

Mon Aug 03 2009I've been riding motorcycles since 1962. Had Honda's, Yamaha's, a BSA, and for the last six years two Harleys. Even though I agree that there is nothing wrong with the rice burners, once you own a Harley, you won't want to go back. I absolutely love riding my '03 FXD SuperGlide. It's fast, stable, comfortable, and reliable. It's NEVER leaked a single drop of oil. Last ... but not least, owning a Harley has allowed me to join a "brotherhood" that you will never know or understand until you're one. God Bless America and the Harley Davidson Co.

Wed Jun 17 2009Bought a used 2002 fxdl. Have put 8,000 miles on it. First bike runs great no problems. Have a friend who bought a 2008 superglide. It was his first Harley after owning many metric bikes, and he says the HARLEY IS THE BEST BIKE HE"S EVER OWNED PERIOD.

Thu Aug 21 2008For those of you who've bomblasted the Harley, clearly you've never ridden one and have certainly no clue about what it is to be a Harley ride, taking in the world that we live in. Going fast is fabulous and if that's what you need, then good for you, but don't be hating on those who just love the open road and a beautiful Harley...

Sun Dec 09 2007Comparing motorcycles is a pastime for juveniles. Its like going to the circus and saying you liked the elephants better than the monkeys. It is a meaningless, futile pursuit. Dont compare the thing, just rate it insofar as it has meaning to you. And certainly, dont try to rate it if you dont own it. My HD satisfies my every desire for a mbike. IT REVERBERATES WITHIN MY SOUL. I could not care less what your opinion of it or me, is.

Sat Oct 06 2007Love my super glide .A very comfortable relaxing bike to ride with plenty of character, which is the part I like the most, you know your on a motocycle.Harley Davidson do agreat job of producing a reliable well finished bike that produces good usable power in the old fashioned lazy low revving way.I do plenty of open road trips with my wife and saddlebags on board and the superglide lopes along in a very competant fashion.

Mon Jul 24 2006I don't know... even though one can hear them coming from a mile away, I have always thought that these look hot. I won't give up on trying to ride one... just to have the experience under my belt.

Sat Apr 08 2006ALL Harleys, although a piece of U.S. motoring history, are UGLY, SLOW, and HEAVIER than a WHALE! Riding a Harley is like putting 2 wheels on a bathtub! Way WAY OVERRATED motorcycles primarily ridden by fat, ugly, redneck Americans who love and would like to hunt with Dick Cheney!

Thu Aug 25 2005GSX-Red my god are you delusional!!! There is only one thing you said that I agree with Its about the ride. Remember the ride entails mechanical as well as environmental elements that together make up the experience. There is no finer way to experience both of these elements than on a Harley. The Harley lets you know that you are a part of the experience. Listen if I want to go 110 mph on a machine I'll ride a roller coaster, its safer. Which brings me to the question how can you possible be enjoying the experience when you going to fast to take it all in. I do not disparage anyone from buying foreign it is a personal choice. I have had Japanese motorcycles and they are well engineered and are of the best quality, but somehow I always felt as though the bike and I were seperate. Its not the destination that we remember it's the journey.

Wed Aug 03 2005Today I dusted a Yamaha sport bike with my 2002 Dyna FXD. Granted, my bike is slightly modified for racing, but the Yamaha should have had a 300 Lbs weight to thrust advantage over the FXD. He had me on the curves at about 120 mph with a nice groove line and lean angle but I dusted him on the straight. When was the last time you made 620+ pounds of cruiser motorcycle perform like a sport bike. Cruiser-HD-Yama-Saki, who cares. Its not the bike, its the rider.

Fri Jul 08 2005It's too bad people like gsx and todd parker, you know, the ones who can't afford American made, skew the ratings with their one-star rating. Must just make them sick when they hear the throaty roar of a harley coming. Envy really does bring out the worst in people. Solid bike. Great way to experience the open road. Wouldn't trade it for any other bike.

Wed Jun 23 2004There are two kinds Bikers of in the world and gsx-red you are the reason the Crotch-Rocket was invented. They'll be scraping you up off the pavement with a shovel one the days. 0 to 80 in under 7 seconds in plenty fast enough for me and 95 FXDS-Conv. It's not at all about how fast you can go. Owning a Harley is all about the experience! The enjoyment of the environment around you, the wind in your face, the smell of the open road, the feel of that Big Twin thumping through your bones, the deciding of which leaves a better taste on your palette - the June Bug or the Honey Bee. When is the last time that you saw some cute little honey unbuttoning her blouse her waiving her wonders at someone slumped over a Rocket? I wouldn't trade my little Dyna for nuttin'! She'll lay down low in the corners just as nice as anything out there and will run straight and true down the highway at any speed. I can put in a 500 mile day and still get off and walk when its over and then get up in the mornin... Read more

Mon Feb 16 2004Boy, are you people delusional. Lets go over all your comments. To TRZ2, your first Harley is one too many. It is neither solid and it is definately not well engineered, unless you use 1950s standards. ubursy now. Cleanest and fastest my @ss. Go up against a VTX or a Mean Streak and they will eat you for lunch. Oh, and it has been around for a reason, H-D's R&D; are sleeping at their desks. Ok shor3734om, smooth and best handling, compared to what, a paint mixer? Hop an Valkerie if you want smooth. bks81358om appartley has no game, so he uses his bike as a prosthetic penis to get chicks, sad. upchuck, yea, that's what I feel like doing right now. Nice and sporty? I think you mean old and antiquated. And finally, jkri642om, Harleys are no value. Crap at any price is still crap. You fell for their marketing and obviously know nothing about motorcycling. It's not about the brand. It's not about resale. It's about the ride, and you all seemed to have missed that. You wer... Sun Feb 08 2004I have been riding motorcycles for twenty years. This is the first harley I have owned (FXDWG 2003). The wide glide is great to look at, and even better to ride. The fit and finish is as good as the metric bikes I have owned. The realy big differnce is the ride, you will love putting alot of miles on this bike. By the way I get alot more looks on a HD.

Tue Nov 14 2000The Harley is the cleanest and fastest cruise bike. It has been around for a long time and it's not for no reason.

Wed Oct 18 2000This rating is for a 2001 FXDX Dyna Super Glide Sport. It's my first Harley and I'm very impressed with the quality. Feels very solid and well engineered. Pretty heavy bike for a sport bike (630 lbs) though. So I keep my Buell S3 for the fast fun riding throught the turns. But this FXDX satisifes my need for a Harley quite well.
