Haier HNCM053E - 5.3 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer

Same old story as above, The freezer is good alright.. mine arrived dented, and the sheet metal torn. Requested a replacement from Amazon. If my replacement arrived with dents and dings, I will probably return it and go to Walmart. Don't know if it is the carrier tossing it around or if the manufacturer doesn't care to package it properly to be shipped. If you are buying this online, please know that it will be dented, or dinged or will arrive will some form of damage. //Update: Amazon shipped a new one, This one was damaged heavily as well, the package was leaking was some oily liquid - Called Amazon, they did refund money and told me to dispose off the product; but this has been such a bad experience I will not order any big items that needs UPS ground from Amazon - I ordered a Kenmore from Sears for 240 including delivery. I hope Amazon fixes the shipping issues with this product or stop selling this, I am sure they are loosing money on shipping alone.

I got the same freezer at Walmart after reading reviews here. I did not want to risk shipping after reading about damage and dents in other reviews. My freezer came in perfect shape and runs great and is very quiet. It is just the right size for a single person or small family. Plenty of room for added storage. The only complaint would go along with the reviews that the freezer is poorly packed in it's box. Very little protection and I can see how it would easily get dented if shipped. I wonder if the manufacturer is aware of this problem? Otherwise, this is a great freezer for the price.

This is without doubt the biggest piece if junk I've bought in a while. The first one arrived damaged - to discuss the packaging further is going over old ground but imagine the thinnest cardboard available flush against the wall of the freezer and you start to get the picture of why the issues discussed occurred so consistently... Amazon were excellent and replaced the damaged article happily, the only issue being the disposal of the old unit. The new one arrived and about six months later broke down. When my wife eventually found the number for Haier (as I recollect this was off a board complaining about their customer "service" - it was not on their website) she then went through the lengthy hold process and like a modern day revisitation of Dante's Inferno journeyed through the stages of hell running the gamut of failure to return calls and ineffectual repairmen. I've never seen a major appliance shipped with so little protection for the item inside. Most major appliances are shipped with heavy duty reinforced corners. This thing ships with no such protection and arrived with multiple dents and all I can say is it did work. Believe the other posts and do not order this item. If it wasn't such a pain in the neck to return something so large I would in a heart beat. With proper shipping it would be a decent product. Some foam on the bottom and one thin layer of cardboard to protect an item that weighs almost 100lbs isn't cutting it. I would not suggest this item to anyone. I should have paid more attention to the other review that mentioned the shipping damage. Stay away. Free shipping doesn't make up for crappy packaging.

I was slightly disappointed in this product upon arrival. it was my understanding from the description, that this product was never opened. When I opened the package, there were scratches all over the top and down one side. There was also a two inch dent in the front. I understand that merchandise gets damaged now and then, but if the manufacturer is going to sell "slightly damaged" merchandise, it should say so in the description. Overall, it works well. It didn't take long for it to get cold enough for to put food in it.
