GWAR

This band is definitely a trip.

Too much "shock" value, and not enough musical value.  They'll be remembered more for their stage show than music.  Come to think of it, can anyone think of a GWAR song?

Excellent review of GWAR,Earthbound. In my opinion,they are one of,if not THE Weirdest Band I've ever seen.(and believe me,I've seen some heavy contenders right in my local bars!!!). Musically,they are a below average "metal" band but with hilarious and twisted lyrics.Their videos are a great goof on everything from Kiss to Condoms.If you go to see them live,wear something you do not plan on keeping,wear something protective and waterproof,or stay WAY in the back row.You may not like the show but you'll never forget it!

Like Spinal Tap (not a direct comparison), GWAR has never tried to sell themselves on their music alone. They don't take themselves serious enough. They are all about the entertainment and shock value. They are definately weird but in one helluva concert way.

I just can't take GWAR seriously... ..perhaps it is dressing up in huge rubber costumes and pretending to be aliens from outer space.. ..or maybe the claim that they accidentally originated the human species by mating with apes, prior to being deep frozen in the arctic wastelands, where they were discovered after many millenia... ..or maybe it is the fact that their huge and bulky outfits make it extremely difficult for them to actually play their instruments. ..but they put on a good show.
