Fri Sep 19 2008The cards are very humoristic and a pleasure to play with. The rules are easy to understand. I played with a colleague and it got a bit boring, although we got a good chuckle out of a few cards. However, I was disappointed because this game is not challenging for adults. There is very little strategy. There are simple choices to make in the game, good for kids. If I had that in my tweens / teens years, I think we would have had a ball!

Tue Sep 16 2008Some folks have commented that this is more of a family/kid-friendly game. I do not agree. The people in my life are in the early-30's group, and we enjoy Guillotine very much. We play it at the pub, while camping, while waiting for dinner to cook, or even during commercials on a long-haul-prime-time night. This game is like a Pixar movie: it's cartoony and fun for kids, but there is definitely adult sensibility thoroughly integrated into the content. This game is huge on strategy and even card counting. One can get pretty competetive. You can play to play, or play to win. It's portable. It can be quick or it can be intense. The only complaint is that the cards aren't intensively laminated, so wear and tear builds up quickly.

Thu Sep 04 2008Guillotine is a card game with a French Revolution theme. That sounds kind of grim but actually the presentation is so comical that it is light hearted and amusing black humor. The cartoony illustrations are fantastic and the cards themselves are bright and sturdy. Players are rival executioners trying to get the most points by beheading nobles with the most notoriety. simple. I'll briefly describe how it is played: The game has two decks of cards, an Action Deck and a Noble Deck. The nobles are shuffled and lined up before the Guillotine (cardboard Guillotine- included) Each player then takes a turn- First they play an action card from their hand if they wish. action cards do all kinds of things but usually they involve moving the position of one or more nobles in the line. Next the player takes (beheads) the noble in the front of the line. They put this Noble Card in front of them along with other nobles they may have collected. this noble has a point value. Th... Mon Sep 01 2008So if you think you know Dungeons and Dragons, check this stuff out. Makes fun of it in a way that even non-gamers can enjoy. Plus most of the stuff is a funny twist on either something real (duck in a dungeon) or else a twist on a D&D; item. Enjoy!

Fri Aug 29 2008I bought this as a birthday present for my sister, I'd played it previously and It's very fun, there isn't a ton of strategy to the game since its just a draw of the card game but the turns are always fun and the game doesn't stagnate and move slowly. I like it :)
