In its original use, this portmanteau is rather clever. According to Wikipedia, statisticians first used the word guesstimate in the 1930s to more accurately differentiate estimates derived from inadequate data. Sadly, I have met people who use guesstimate and estimate interchangeably (of course going with the more lenient definition in all cases). I think the more insidious problem is that media outlets authoritatively deliver junk stats as estimates rather than guesstimates.

Not too bad in terms of frequency- but this garbage office-speak of the highest order. I literally cringe when I hear a minion talk like this and hit 'em with the dreaded- "Don't talk like that in front of a client- ever."

It is a strange combination of guess and estimate but I too have used this in the past but not so much now. I try not to butcher the English language (on purpose anyway) and try to avoid slang terms or sayings such as this.

Although I find myself using this occasionally, I know I shouldn't. It just sounds weird but cool at the same time.
