It's already all been said. He was a disaster and the fickle finger of fate finally finished him. California really deserved something brighter but grayed out!

Only a place as dumb as Cali would have blamed the entire 3rd-world mess that is Cali on the plate of Davis. . .and only Cali voters would have been dumb enough to elect Arnold (who is now universally accepted as being in over his head) to the position. Hey kids, don't hire a Hollywood figure to do a politician's dirty job. . .

Vetoed more liberal legislation than any Cal Republican governor since Reagan. Played the demogogue on law and order issues, opposing efforts to reform the 3rd strikes law to limit the strikes to violent crimes. Pushed deregulation that caused an energy crisis in the private sector run portions of California, and refused to seize the grid and run it like the Municipal Utilities Districts in Sacramento and Los Angeles, both of which not only had no "rolling blackouts" but made money for their communities by selling surplus power to the rest of the state. Tried to be something for everybody and consequently inflicted Arnold upon us.

Created a huge mess that California is still trying to clean up. Was tough on crime and did a few good things for the state, but ultimately crippled the state as well as his own career with his mismanagement of the state's budget.

Hey, Rate it All, take this guy off of the "Governors" list. He's not our governor anymore! Thank god Arnold won. It makes me sick how these hypocritical liberals are. They blame Bush for the economy, but they don't blame anything on Davis, even though he ruined our state's economy. Well, at least liberals are losing power in CA, yesterday's election was a perfect example.

Twice vetoed illegal immigrant license bills. Now, he signs a more lenient one. He vetoed them before saying the bill represented a securit risk. Now he signs it and in his own words presents security risk to California.

Gray Davis as a candidate who represents a very worst of politics. Nonetheless, there is nothing new that we've learned about the man's senses last reelection. The media has played a nonconstructive role in both the general election and the recall election. Unfortunately, our news is tainted, but even reading what is available should leave in any intelligent voter to worry about the sorry state of California politics. I'm afraid is just one indication of single party rule, regardless of the party.

Gray Out Davis is THE WORST governor in the history of the US. He is about to be only the 2nd Governor to be recalled in history. Even in a socialist leftist nutjob state like California, you can't tax and spend the people in to oblivion without them rebelling. This just proves that tax and spend liberalism/socialism DOES NOT work folks. When will people wake up to this? When will the Republicans wake up and use this against the Socialistcrats nationally? There is irrefutable proof of what tax and spend policies do to an economy. Look at California now!!!

I knew California was in trouble when Davis was first elected and the media described him as a "moderate." That's a code word that means the Press is sneaking a heavy-handed liberal Trojan Horse onto the front pages. I'm thankful there are enough people in California with minds of their own, who are willing to use peaceful, legal, due process to see if this tricky governor can be recalled.

How is it that a person can turn the state budget from a $10 billion dollar surplus to a $40 BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT (The BIGGEST state deficit in U.S. history)!? He has been able to spend about $50 million dollars in the couple years he's been in office. What does hehave to show for it: A crushing drain on the state power supply that has caused blackouts to about a third of the state's population (deregulation...what a BRIGHT idea), the current worst rated state educational system in the U.S. (and I thought Florida would get that title), one of, if not, the highest taxed state in the country (AND THEY HAVE A DEFICIT!?), and the list goes on like this. Whether or not it's because of republicans that started a petition for a recall, it is clear that Davis must leave office for the good of the state. Otherwise, he'll turn California into the insane world that was portrayed in Escape From L.A. (I actually would not doubt it).

Thanks, California...why can't your state deal with the consequences of its own actions? Your state created this problem with its half-assed "de-regulation," (deregulated the supply-side, and not the demand-side...duh!) why can't you get yourselves out of it? Why did you have to try to steal money from the other 49 states to solve your troubles?

RECALL GRAY DAVIS - www.RecallGrayDavis.com - Gray Davis is a horribly corrupted and incompetent Governor for California. Under his watch California saw a devastating Energy Crisis that sent the utility bills of the poor and elderly skyrocketing. Hundreds of thousands of jobs left the state as businesses could not cope with the exorbitant electricity rates. Then Davis mismanaged the state's fiscal matters so atrociously that California racked up the largest budget deficit for any state in the nation's history. A $34.6 BILLION budget deficit. Gray Davis has been corrupted by moneyed special interests who he pimped for the largest amount of money raised (extorted) in a campaign for any candidate for Governor in history. Do the math: + Davis sends California into a massive budget deficit through giant Big Government spending and no fiscal restraint or accountability. + But when it comes to his political account Gray Davis is careful with the money and raises more through uneth... Gray Davis -- Batteries not included! Gray Davis -- Think of our state like camping! Gray Davis -- what you see is what you won't get! All of the above apply, and thrown into the mix is a man whose astrological sign is, "For Sale." Democrats like to say, "Follow the money." Well, if we do that in this state we need look no further than Gray Davis' re-election campaign chest -- $45 million and growing. Davis should replace the California motto of "Eureka" with "Quid Pro Quo" (i.e. for you Democrats, your government favors are on the way once your check clears). How anyone can support this Clintonian creature writ small is beyond me. Wake up Californians and vote for Simon before it's too late!

    Sun Mar 17 2002

Here we have the next Michael Dukakis. He is a government loving automaton. People who call him a "moderate" have been mislead. He has positions on the environment and abortion which are pretty extremist. The electricity issue in California would be a non-issue today had Davis taken the leadership in California. He ignored the inflating deficit. When Republican Gov. Pete Wilson left the governorship in early 1999, there was an 8 billion dollar surplus; now under Gov. Davis, the deficit has ballooned to 18 BILLION dollars. The reason why? Because government spending went up 37 percent as a time when most other states kept spending in the single digits. That's only half the problem. The electricity deregulation problem also looms heavily over his head. When you deregulate the electricity industry, like any industry, you must release all price controls to spur outside investment. Gov. Davis does have a point that he did inherit the faulty deregulation program, but he was supposed to do so... Read more

Gray Davis is the reason that California is running out of energy everyday. All of the regulations imposed on energy plants make it impossible to build new ones. I'm glad Bush didn't give in to the big liberal in the west!

To whom it may concern: I believe the "Govener" is doing a terrible job. I just graduated and I got a Govener's Scholarship. Well, this being my only way to pay for school I was excited. Oh! Wait! Now I find out that the form isn't ready. Gee, must be from all those rolling blackouts. If he were actually doing something in that mansion maybe he'd get more than a one star rating from his constituents. Yeah, he's for the people. The only reason he got a one from me is because I can't give negative stars!

Gray Davis is doing a helluva job with the fallout from the de-regulation of the energy companies...considering that it was Pete Wilson and the rest of the Re-smug-licans who de-regulated them in the first place! Davis is doing what he has to do regarding the rolling blackouts, given the fact that when Dubya went to Sacramento, he refused to give Californians federal assistance! Remember that the companies that supply California with the energy are from Texas, and these companies, most likely, have Dubya in their back pocket! Now, how can a consummate politician like Dubya disappoint his fellow Texan Re-smug-lican-big-business-oil-baron-anti-trust-busting comrades? By dissing Gray, that's why. Gray, keep up the good work. You're doing what you have to do.

Um, does anyone else have a problem with Gray Davis's insane idea that we, the taxpayers, should pay for illegals to go to college? I owe $20,000 in school loans and I have a BIG problem with struggling to make ends meet to pay for my own education while handing over my tax dollars to finance a common criminal's education. It's bad enough that I help put food on their tables and educate their children. I agree with the poster who said that this is all a plot to grow big government and what better way to do it than to have the majority of the population dependent on them? (The poster used slightly different words). Also, why isn't there more outrage over the ball park situation in San Diego? How is it constitutional to make citizens pay for an enterprise that will line the pockets of the already rich? If I want to start a business, can I get the taxpayers to pay my start up costs while I collect the revenue? Who is going to get the money from the naming rights for the stadium? Why sho... I'm more than a little fed up. I'm tired of listening to our useless excuse for a Governor try to blame President Bush for California's problems. I just heard on KFBK that Gray Davis has received more money in campaign contributions from the Texas energy companies over the last two years than any other California politician. I find it disgusting that he tries to pin the blame for his own failures on the President, claiming that the President is "in the pocket" of Texas energy companies, while he's been busy lining his own pockets with money from the same source. Gray Davis has known that this crisis was coming for nigh on to two years. He's done nothing! He's been so afraid to do anything controversial, for fear he'd hurt his prospects for a run at the presidency in 2004, that he's dithered this state into crisis. I've also heard that we have enough generating capacity within this state to get us through this crisis, however, our own state laws will not allow this generating cap... Read more

GRAY DAVIS IS A UNABLE TO LEAD. HE BLAMES EVERYONE AND DOES NOTHING TO HELP SOLVE PROBLEMS. IF HE WANTS TO HIRE TWO OF GORE'S HACKERS AT $30,000 PER MONTH THEN HE SHOULD USE HIS OWN MONEY. WHAT RETURN ON THE DOLLAR WILL THE CITIZENS OF CALIFORNIA GET FOR THIS MONEY? HOW WILL IT SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS? TO INVITE BUSH AND THEN RUN ADS TO TRASH HIM, SHOWS THE MENTALITY OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. BUSH IS RIGHT. WE NEED TO SOLVE OUR OWN PROBLEMS. WE JUST NEED TO GET THE RIGHT LEADERS TO DO IT.

It sounds to me that Rush Limbaugh has nominated Gray Davis as his new politician to pick on. (With good reason). If Gray Davis can't or won't do the job, then why doesn't he step down and let someone into that office that can do the job. He should stop blaming Bush for his own mistakes and sart working on fixing California's problems.

Gray Davis is just another bleeding heart liberal puke. He sists there in California unable to help his own state and blames his problems on Texas. Governor, you and your tree-hugging, socialist cohorts have created California's problems, not Texas. You are like people on welfare. You want someone else to fix what you have managed to screw up. If you will stop letting the likes of Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Maxine Waters and people of their ilk run your state, you wouldn't be having these problems. As far as the Texas energy companies go, they are screwing us too. Reliant Energy has raised its rates twice in the last 9 months to help offset its production costs. That didn't seem to be a problem when they shelled out $300,000,000 to name the Astrodome and adjoining facilities. See Governor. We all have problems with energy companies so quit peeing on everyone elses leg and do something to fix your own.

Mr Davis DID NOT create this energy crisis period. It all began with a republican during Democratic president Clitons term. It was another way for republicans to shake the powers of the Democratic party both in California and the United States. You cannot sit there and tell me that the Republicans with all there advisors did not see this comming. I do not buy it for a minute that they would not know the out come of this Energy mess in California. What I do know is this. The republicans thought that this would be another good move for California and when it was not they started pointing thier fingers at the Democrats because there just happens to be one in office. What would the republicans say if there was a Republican Governor in office right now with this energy crisis? Would they still blame the Democratic party? Or would they say " Yes we were wrong, we thought it would work but didn't " Its funny because not often do you see the polictical leaders excepting responsibility for th... Read more

He's an idiot. Anyone who thinks that government can do anything better and/or more efficiently than private enterprise is out of their mind. Instead of trying to take over transmission lines he should be creating incentives for private industry to expand their infrastructure. He can leave a legacy of being the governor in charge when the various fuel sources drove us to despair. Record highs for gas, natural gas, diesel, electricity have occurred under his watch with higher prices coming. The only good thing about his tenure in office is that before he's done he'll destroy any national aspirations he has.
