Excellent, refreshing fruit - the sweeter the better of course. When they weren't sweet enough, we would slice them in half, cut out the little sections and then douse them with a teaspoon or so of sugar. With all the anti-sugar sentiment today - I don't know if people do that as much or at all anymore. If I find a good, sweet grapefruit these days, I will usually just peel and eat it like an orange.

As a kid I never liked this at all, I thought it was way too sour and I think it's because whoever peeled it for me didn't do a good job of removing the white part. I started eating it again recently because of some of the health benefits.

If you can get a good one of these, and you're in the mood for it they can be so good. Ive only had ONE ever that didn't need sugar though, and your mouth does taste a bit like you just threw up after you finish eating them.

I've never liked grapefruit at all. I can stomach grapefruit juice, but its not something I would choose if I had options. With my current health situation grapefruit is the only food that I must avoid because of complications that might arise with my medication. Lucky for me I'm not missing out on anything.

Grapefruit has a very sour taste that I don't care for. I know they are good for you, but I don't like them.

Tart and tangy with an underlying sweetness, grapefruit has a juiciness that rivals that of the ever popular orange and sparkles with many of the same health promoting benefits.

They're good for you, but the idea of eating something that bitter is very sado-masochistic.

Grapefruit gives me euphoria. No joke. Just one grapefruit usually doesn't work but if I eat 2 or 3 in a row, I'm smiling for the next half hour. Not sure if there is a neurochemical reason but I do know that vitamin C is involved in the serotonin pathway (and that grapefruit inhibits p450 system). But I must say I love grapefruit to the point it's wearing the enamel from my teeth (according to my dentist). Haven't tried smoking it yet though. hehe

Grapefruits have a very unique and delicious taste. I like eating the fruit and then sucking the juice out. However, they're very messy, and the fruit is kind of hard to get out.

I don't get grapefruit eaters. They pour sugar all over the things before they eat them! If you want a SWEET fruit, stick to something else!

The highlight of my morning routine is a glass of fresh grapefruit juice. I love grapefruit too, it is strong and sweet and luscious.

I love grapefruits and especially the juice. A great contradiction in that they are not out and out sweet like most fruits, but instead have a tang that some may describe as bitter. Certainly a one-of-a-kind in the fruit world. If you don't like 'em, can I have yours?

Those who don't like grapefruit, I fear, are too used to eating the white variety, which admittedly are quite bitter. I recommend having a pink grapefruit or a red grapefruit (as personal preference, I prefer the red), which are much less bitter. They are somewhat of a pain to cut out each little slice with that grapefruit knife, but well worth each little succulent, juicy bite! I also love grapefruit juice (again, just not WHITE grapefruit juice).

Grapefruit juice is pretty turbid and strong. I sometimes like to eat out half a grapefruit with honey and all that, though. Kinda bitter.
