Grand Lux has an extensive menu that continues to impress me. I've been visiting for over five years and have yet to try something I don't like. From appetizers to desserts, you're sure to enjoy the food. The ambiance is classy, but feel free to walk in after a day of shopping in jeans and a tee and enjoy the view from windows overlooking Michigan.

I have been blown away by the diner menu time and time again. The lunch menu isn?t all that great but the diner menu is to die for! Great prices and quantity of food; the service is always professional and the ambiance fitting. This is also a great place to dress up for a special occasion as well as taking the wife and kids out.

I didn't expect the restaurant to be so huge! It is very large, yet still gives a comfortable cozy atmosphere at your table. We only had time for a quick dinner here, and I was thoroughly impressed. We had told our waitress how we were in a hurry and our food was out very quickly and was delicious. Huge portions, but delicious. When we were leaving, the wait for a table was TWO hours!! You know the food is good when people wait that long for a table.

We love the Grand Luxe Cafe on Michigan Ave. On our first visit we were seated in the patio, and had a great view and a very "airy" feeling. May be worth an extra wait. The service was great, very friendly and professional, with extra credit to how well our child (1+ year old) was treated and the help we received. We were a party of four and tried different dishes. Everything was excellent and the overall experience was great. I personally thought the funnel cake with 3 dipping sauces was amazing. I know that's what i'm going to have for desert on our next visit...!

Great Until........ This Sunday my dad and children dined at the Grand Lux. Beautiful atmosphere as always. I wanted to introduce my dad to a new restaurant that I had frequented. We both decided to have salad because their vinegarette dressing is the bomb, he decided to have a greek salad with the same dressing. Before midnight I was hovering over the toilet "letting loose" from both ends. Originally I thought it was a small stomach virus, but Tuesday evening I briefly mentioned to my dad about being ill Sunday and Monday. He responded, "Me too!" But the children that ate burgers and fries have not complained of any illness. There was something obviously going on with either the vegetables or the dressing. It is such a shame because as I mentioned earlier I have been there many times before, but I dont think I can return because what if my children would have eaten a salad. I will never be able to ease my mind and enjoy a meal in that restaurant, out of fear from getting sick. Tues... Read more

If your seeking a beautiful and enchanting dining experience...Grand Lux Cafe is definetely the place for you. I am a repeated patrone of this restaurant and everytime i dine i am always adding an additional wonderful comment to my list of already fantastic things to say regarding my visit. Customer service is impeccable, atmosphere is extravagant & down comforter cozy, food always served hot, plentiful and with a smile...absolutely love the blue cheese salad w/ grilled chicken and the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are outstanding. The Rattando area is an area of perfection for dining. I HIGHLY recommed this place for a 1st time date, especially for dinner. Very impressive dining place, prices & food amount is just flawless. 1 of my absolute FAVORABLE places to visit for dinning!!! ~*~Divine Essence~*~

I have eaten the Lux soooo many times. Both lunch and dinner and I have yet to have a bad experiences. The staff is great, the drinks are great and the food is even better. I am working my way through the entire menu. I even got engaged here and had my 1 year anniversary dinner here. My husband who is a VERY picky eater can't even complain. If you eat anywhre while downtown this is the place to go. As a matter of fact my birthday is this Friday and I'm going again.

This is the best place I been to for dinner in Chicago and THE PLACE to go. The portions are hefty and the desserts are barely even finishable after your entree. I would forget the appetizers and save room for their desserts. Show up really hungry and walk out so full your tummy is aching with happiness. :-) The setting is classy (good date spot). Service is very good. I wanna go back here again soon!

we often come downtown to spend the weekend at the family condo, more often than not we go to the grand lux. the food is great ! we have never had a bad meal there. the variety is endless and the portions are huge. the service has always been good. the staff always helps each other out if needed, i would recommend this stop to anyone visiting the downtown area. the sister resturant that might be more recognized the cheese cake factory is just as good and also located in a good location close to great shopping.

My daughter and I were in town (yes, tourists) on a shopping trip and decided to try the Grand Lux. It was wonderful from the start, not a long wait, and we got the best seat in the house (right by the window). I had the lunch special, soup, salad, and half sandwich. Nothing too fancy, I'd rather have good food than a show. It looked delicious to me! And was delicious. My daughter, who is rather picky enjoyed her special ordered sandwich. The waiter was very informative and attentive. Great service, great food, not over priced just because they are on Michigan street. Will definitely go back!

I went to grand lux a few months ago and wow, what can I say? I will be back over and over again. Although this is a busy spoy, being seated was a fast deal, about 1/2 hour wait. The food is sooo good and you get such a variety to choose from. Save room for dessert because thier homemade cookies are it! You will not be disappointed.

Grand Lux may be a bit touristy, but the food is excellent. They serve huge portions from an even larger menu... so come hungry. They do offer a lunch portion menu, so definitely take advantage of that if you can (they are still quite large). Salads, pasta, burgers, appatizers... they are all made with flare and flavor. Make sure to pre-order your desserts, as many of them are made to order. And, you can always stop by and pick up an order to go. Check out the chihuly glass lamps and chandelliers throughout the establishment. This Cheesecake Factory sister didn't skimp on the decor.

A group of 4 of us decided to try this spot, when visiting the city in July, and we were not disappointed. The location overlooking Michigan Ave is great (not many restaurants on the Mile), and the restaurant itself is deceptively huge! Our waitress was great, and gave good recommendations on choices. The menu is about 8 pages long, so it can be hard to choose! All of our food was very tasty and the portions were enormous. I will definitely come back.

Best service in years in Chicago. From the manager who created a table for 7 outside, to the waiter who was visible, attentive, funny and made the experience even greater than the food. Everyone loved their food. The mini-burger appetizer (filet mignon) well worth the 4 bucks. The Grouper was just as tasty. Unusual surf and turf, but a very memorable experience. Prices moderate for such great food. Definitely a place we'll take our suburban friends who come to visit.

This place is great! We received a recommendation by a friend to visit Grand Lux Cafe in Chicago. We lucked out and were seated within 20 minutes of placing our name on the list. This visit we wanted dessert only, but with so much eclectic food to choose from it was difficult to go straight for dessert. We ordered "appetizer salads", the greek salad is excellent, fresh tomato's, olives, lettuce and feta makes this salad hit the spot. The buffalo chicken appetizer was quite a display and very good. Also ordered were the pot stickers and head lettuce appetizer salad. We ordered desserts, Chocolate Lava cake is excellent and very tasty, key lime pie had just enough tart and sweet to make the mouth water. The Chocolate tower was a blend of chocolate heaven! We will definately visit Grand Lux on our next Chicago visit!

We went to the Grand Lux on a tight time frame before our show, bad idea! We were greeted by an eye rolling host upset our friends 7 year old walked in front of him. Our server though friendly took 25 min for our drinks and 1 hour for entrees. The food was good but we were unable to enjoy it in 15 minutes we had left. We asked for our checks due to the short time frame and had to get up and find our server so we could leave. We spoke with a manager twice trying to speed things up and neither time did either of the managers return. I realize a great deal of restaurants live off the tourist trade downtown, I guess they didn't care if we returned. Allowing 2 hours for dinner prior to a show certainly should be adequate, not at Grand Lux!

The wait wasn't as long as we expected. The Grand Lux is kind of a trendy, hipster type restaurant. They had an extensive menu and it was hard to choose what to order. The chicken parmesan was excellent!! Salmon was also good. We ordered the lunch portions and they were still huge! They don't take reservations unless you have a party of 7 or more, which is kind of annoying. The service was good. We would go back.

As a military brat, I used to live in Germany. I've never had a faithful rendering of Weiner Schnitzel in this country until I arrived at the Grand Lux. If you leave without trying the buffalo chicken rolls...go back! My husband and I have dined here many times but we're mostly takeout customers only because the wait time is always something ridiculous. Although the food is very good, I frequently question whether its really worth the wait. Also aggravating that they will not allow reservations on a weekend. Great place to go if you're not too hungry and have a few extra hours to spare. Might be a good idea to bring a snack along while you wait for your table.

i went to the Grand Lux on the biggest shopping dayof the year. Yes, the lobby was extremely crowded but our wait was not long at all. The wait staff was knowledgable and polite. My guy had the burger with honey smoked bacon, of course I sampled it and it was WONDERFUL! However, I had the fish and chips, I didn't enjoy it. It was bland. Bu the cabbage salad that came with it was good. Next time I go back, I'll have something else. But inspite of the fact that I didn't like my meal I WILL BE GOING BACK AGAIN.

In Short Above the Ann Taylor store on Michigan Avenue, this huge restaurant offers shoppers and business types roomy, comfortable relief from the Mag Mile bustle. Grand Lux boasts a spacious bar, buzzing open kitchen, and seating for 550 in several rooms, all done up in opulent faux-Venetian style: high ceilings, multi-colored leather and velvet banquettes, and mosaic tile floors. The global menu offers oversized portions and a dizzying array of choices, from Vietnamese summer rolls to Yankee pot roast and wiener schnitzel.

Everything at the Grand Lux that I've tried so far was exceptionally good except for the bread. It was too hard and cut into my gums. If they so desire maybe hot french rolls or the bread that is used for soup or chili bread bowl would be better. I eat at a lot of restaurant on the level of Grand Lux and my main important start of service is how good the bread is.

Beautiful restaurant, very classy/eclectic from the walls to the light fixtures, it's a really neat place. Huge menu, would appeal to everyone. Beware of the gigantic portions. Most dinner entrees can be split with 2 people. Save room for dessert!! The dessert is amazing. Food was above average for the price, service was slightly slow, but friendly. Location is good if you're shopping down Michigan Ave.

Waiting to be seated is a logistical nightmare, but you won't need to wait long given the enormous amount of seating. This is a great place for lunch during the week, but I would hardly suggest eating here for dinner. Everything at Grand Lux is ok - sans the rather gauche yet entertainment ambience. Food is ok, service is ok, value is ok. The best feature is the bread. Always warm and delicious. But the portions are too much (a la Cheesecake Factory) and there is a lot on the menu. Too much to really specialize in anything but a nice place for a weekday meal.

Maybe I'm just a small town girl, but I absolutely love this place! We ate there 3 times during our last 2 visits to Chicago and couldn't have been happier with the service and the food. Lots of great choices and large portions. The atmosphere is wonderful, not too stuffy but nice enough to make it seem special.

Grand Lux is a spinoff of Cheesecake Factory but I think it has more food choices and their dessert is not just limited to cheesecakes. Try the Molten Chocolate Cake - it's really rich and chocolatey - too sweet for me so I just had one bite off a friend's order. The mushroom burger I got was overly salty and the side of broccoli (instead of fries) was not trimmed so it looked really bad on the plate. The buns were grilled with butter but not really too greasy so that's fine. Portions are good. I ate my burger and broccoli all, but I will say 3/4 of any entree will fill you up with room to share a dessert. Relaxed atmosphere and the large number of tables available make Grand Lux a good place to hang out, and the server was quite attentive.

Everything was mediocre, especially for the price. The worst problem I faced with the place is the quality (or lack thereof) of the service. Our server was very unfriendly, rolled her eyes and took ten minutes to refill my water, just once, and made me feel very stupid for requiring more time to look over the menu. I will never return again.

We really like the grand lux for several reasons, two most important to us was service & atmosphere, the grand lux has both. the service there was excellent, our waitress for the night was a doll from beginning to end. the restaurant itself, one word: STYLISH!! from vivid colors to various fabrics its a sight to see, oh yeah!! a table by the window comes highly reccomended. Do yourself a favor and stop by the grand lux...you will not be dissapointed!!

I went happened upon this restaurant as my mom, sister and i were shopping and fell in love with it. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, there were so many choices on the menu i had a hard time choosing. I really recommend the fallen Chocolate cake (you have to order this when you order your dinner because it take 30 min to make). I would recommend this restaurant to anypone who is entertaining guests, looking for a romantic evening or just plain looking for good food and a good time.
