Gordon In Lakeview

I didn't like this salon at all. They are great about offering you a seat, and bringing you something to drink, but this place isn't exactly cutting edge for being a sort of stuffy looking salon. I always look at the different stylists hair, and the clients hair when I go to somewhere to get my hair done, and I was bored when I went in this place and looked around. I went there for a color consultation, and really wasted my time!! I wish the person on the phone had just told me that they would not even attempt to do what I asked. I think I gave the person at the desk all the pertinent information over the phone. When my assigned stylist came in and talked to me, she told me should could not take the dark hair dye out of my hair, and wanted to the conservative thing and put highlights in, or dye my roots dark, duh!! If you want booooring and safe, go to this salon.

I made an appointment for full higlights after a friend of mine had hers highlighted there. It would have been my first time there. I called to let them know that I was going to be about 20 minutes late. I was told that I had to reschedule...the receptionist explained in detail to me that since I was a new client, I was scheduled time for a consultation as well as the service. The stylist would only have time to do the service in 45 minutes, and without the consultation, to talk about my hair..what I wanted, what was good for my hair etc...I would not receive the best possible service. I really appreciated that!! However, I wanted my hair done right away and went elsewhere....the results weren't so good!!!!!!! I definitely want to go there and get "the best possible service" owed to me!

The front desk was very helpful and upbeat. Conor gave me one of the best haircuts of my life. I will be back for sure! I have recommended this place to everyone!

I had my first appt with Kara @ Gordons Salon a few months ago and recently came back. I highly recommend her if you are a blonde or have ever thought about being a blonde. I can be very picky and I appreciate that she took the time to REALLY listen to what I wanted. Talented, friendly, and affordable! Cheers to great hair!

I love the stylists at this place, but the receptionists are very rude--I have been there two times now and they are very unwelcoming and unfriendly. Enough to make you go somehwere else...

Poor Customer Service! I called to say I would be 15 minutes late and was told I'd have to reschedule for another time because I was the stylist's last appointment of the day and because I was a new client. If I was the last appointment, then what was the big deal? At least I had the courtesy to call ahead. I was going to try this salon because my usual stylist was booked up for 2 weeks. Don't bother! Salon Blue and Sinead Salon have much better customer service!

I've been going to Brittany for quite some time now. She has really been the best stylist I have ever had. I was a brunette when I started going there and Brittany helped transform my hair to the most beautiful, natural looking blonde with subtle highlights and low lights. She's not only amazing at coloring, but her haircuts are so creative and masterfully done. She really pays attention to detail. I asked for bangs once and left with the cutest haircut I could imagine. Brittany is also so down to earth and funny and really easy to talk to. I have referred several of my friends to her and they all say the same things. If you are looking for the best color, style, or a little bit of both, go to Brittany for a hair experience that will keep you coming back again and again.

Being a self proclaimed colorist with my own concoctions of dyes and my own pair of hair scissors it takes a lot for me to be professionally groomed. But over a the years Melissa has weened me off the box dyes and bathroom chop jobs and has given my hair a new life. She makes a point of really understanding a color and cut idea when you have something specific in mind and also makes really good suggestions when you are a little unsure or just wanna mix it up. Her color skills are excellent, I only get compliments when I come back from a visit. Plus if you are looking for a natural looking unnatural color combination she is stellar. I have no idea what my natural color is any more actually. Plus she tells you exactly how to care for it, which is so important for colored hair, and what products to use. Hot Diggety Dog!!! I went to Tony at the suggestion of a friend and was so completely glad that I did. I think it was the first time in my 33 years on this earth that I had such a detailed consultation about what do do with my hair. He had such a calm and sweet way about him too. He was so cool about everything. Hands down, the best cut I've had in a while! :)

I had horrible customer service at Gordon Salon. I showed up for an appointment for service listed on their website, a perm and they didn't have the rods. They did not offer to help me find a place, or re-book the service. They just let me walk out. In fact, Tony Gordon called me to say that if I would agree to get future perms with them then they'd buy the rods. He also said he's one of the top 200 salons in the country--not based on customer service! They should not be an Aveda accredited salon!!!! Also, he said that no one ever does body waves...well I've had four and also found 2 salons within a manner of minutes that can do them. I highly recommend not going to Gordon Salon! Also, don't ever give them your email address--you'll be bombarded with annoying emails!

I enjoy going to this aveda salon alot, I have a super awesome stylist Jen that i see for hair and Randy for the facials and waxing. These girls are awesome and really skilled. I also have had a couple of my friends see a girl named Cj for hair and adore her. The prices are pretty normal for a wriggley salon, I also have had the front desk mess up my appt. once and they were super nice and apologetic about everything and took care of me that day.

I used to be a salon "hopper" because I never found a stylist that I absolutely loved, until I went to Jen. I've been going to her for well over a year now and she does the BEST COLOR! I have never once left without loving my color and I'm extremely picky! She is also very easy to talk to and I no longer have to dread those awkward conversations with a stylist. As if finding the best colorist wasn't enough -- Randi does amazing eyebrows! She obviously knows exactly what she is doing....one time I cheated and trimmed my eyebrows between sessions and she called me out on it! It is so refreshing to finally have a salon I can go to on a regular basis with two experts that I love seeing who do such a great job. I would recommend this place to anyone!

So my amazing girlfriend surprised me with a massage from Gordon in Lakeview for Valentine's Day. I called and made my apointment for the evening of 2/22 and showed up excited for the hour long experience to come. I was told upon arrival that there had been a mix up and the massage therapist was not there and that I needed to reschedule. I was obviously disappointed but Pam, the girl working the desk, was nice enough and offered to bump it up to an hour and a half at 50% off so I didn't put up too much of a fuss. I called back and rescheduled for this evening (3/7) hoping there wouldn't be any more problems. I showed up, received a great massage and went to the desk to thank them for everything when I was told that I needed to pay. My girlfriend had already given them her credit card info as this was a gift but they had NO RECORD OF IT so I was forced to pay for my gift myself!?! I have this problem where I often cut my hair myself...and tend to do so if I don't like a professional haircut that I've received. Thankfully, CJ can always make my disasters into a fashionable hairdo and I never have the urge to get the scissors out after one of her cuts. I've been going to her for about two years now and have never been disappointed.

Ask for Melissa! The girl has skill! I've been blonde, brunette, red, brunette with honey tones, all over the map. Each time, I leave happy and satisfied with my cut and color by Melissa. I'm always getting compliments. Not only that, she gives great tips on how to take care of my hair. She's patient, a great listener and dedicated to service. Highly recommended.

I have had my hair colored red/brown for years, and it is one of the hardest color to achieve and maintain. Eric P did a FANSTASTIC job . This was my second visit and the colored lasted almost 4 months (Aveda - with the help of a custom blended colored shampoo). He is very patient, detailed, and spent time listening to me. I will go back again and again and again. Eric and the salon are the best!!!!! You will not be dissapointed.

I was searching for an Aveda salon on line and came across Gordon in lakeview, Its on clark street. The comments were all so great I couldnt waite to try it. I had my hair cut by Britany and I have to say she is the nicest stylist I've ever had,

My massage at Gordon's was a really great experience. I am a runner and need sports massages from time to time(once a month sometimes) and Audrey did a great job. I highly recommend anyone who is an athlete/runner to try Gordon Salon! I have become a regular.

I went to Gordon Salon in Lakeview and it was great. My stylist (CJ) was so creative. I went in with no idea of what i wanted and I left with the the best style that I have ever had. If you are looking for a great salon go, it was the best salon experance ever.

Everything in the manicure was great except for the cuticle work and polish job. It is blotchy and uneven. My cuticles look terrible. The whole service is done practically in the dark with the exception of a small table lamp. It looked fine until I walked outside and saw it in the light. It was $20, and I guess you get what you pay for. I won't be back there for nail services.

I went for a massage and facial and have to say I was amazed, I had never had an aveda sercive before and can not stop raving about how much above and beyond they go. I truley felt very welcome and relaxed the entire time.

I've been to several other salons in the Lakeview area and I have to say that Gordon in Lakeview is the best I've gone to. On Friday I saw Jen and have nothing but the highest words of praise for them all. The staff was incredibly friendly, the prices reasonable, and the end results (I got a 3/4 head of highlights and haircut) were stunning! I've never had more compliments on my hair and it has only been a couple of days. Jen told me how I can style and manage my hair on my own so I could reproduce the results at home and I have been doing so with much success. I'll definitely stick with Aveda color and techniques from now on and Jen is my stylist for life! I'm not sure what happened to the person who reviewed below me but can only surmise that she wrote a review for the wrong salon because my experience (and my friends who recommended it to me) have had been absolutely fantastic!

wow, I went in for a brow wax at gordons and didnt really know what shape i was looking for the esthetican Randi was so great and took her time going over different stylles that i could have. In the end i loved them so so so much. I recomend her so highly from the bottom of my heart

I was invited to the grand opening to the new spa Tony Gordon opened under his salon and meet the staff, the party was so great and I walked with tons of samples and gifts. I came back the following week and recieved color from melissa, wow she is so great and I love my color. I then headed down stairs and recieved a waxing from Randi is also amazing. This place is really really great.

I had received a facial last week by Randi, the esthetician. It was amazing!!! I have been going to many spas all over Chicago(mainly downtown) and I was very impressed with the treatment and level of relaxation at Gordon's. I didn't expect a foot soak!! I never had a foot soak and foot massage before my facial before!! And,the massage was great! Randi was very professional the entire time. I highly recommend her and Gordon Salon. I already bought a facial for a friend as a gift!! I am definitely going to be a regular.

I went to Gordon Salon this weekend to receive another haircut from one of their stylists, Melissa. I have to say that she did it again! I have consistently received amazing haircuts and color from her. She has an amazing attention to detail and treats every cut and color as a personal project, and I always leave happy and confident with my new do! One thing about Melissa that you should know is that not only is she an amazing hair stylist and colorist, but she's also a very talented makup artist who has vision and know-how. I recommend that if you are in need of just a simple change or a total overhaul, this is your girl. You won't be disappointed. Plus, she's always got a smile and is really nice to her clients!

I was in the Gordon in Lakeview Salon (again... I love this place!) Let me tell you I have never had an experience of being dissappointmed with any of their staff. I have had just about every service available (and believe me there are a lot of services that you can have done) and have seen multiple stylists. I think that when I read a negitive review on this place I tend to wonder if the person that is not satified is really not happy with where ever they go. That it really has less to do with the salon/spa than it has to do with themself. Every time I go in there the entire staff at the Gordon in Lakeview Salon is incredibly professional and caring. They remember who you are, what you where doing or where you where going from your last vist, their cutting/coloring is always amazingly consistant (they have a policy that your time is what is valuable to them and they incourage you to see other stylist that fits your schedule) and they all care about how you are. I just got my hair cut at Gordons and I can't believe how good I look. The color makes my skin glow and my hair shines like you wouldn't believe. And the cut............WOW! I walked 6 blocks home...in the wind...and it still looks great. As a matter of fact...I was actually turning heads! Heads...as in...more than one. And, I'm not even kidding. Eric is a genious! Try him and you'll see exctly what I mean. Thankx Eric...I love you!
