I think these are some of the best dogs around. They do everything you'd want a dog to do: swim, fetch, chase geese, etc. Dealing with shedding is a small price to pay in my book.

my last comment i was trying to rate beagles..oops. golden retrievers are really good dogs, they are loyal and loving and make great family gogs. i personally would not own one because they are kinda cliche and i don't like the way they look. but if you have kids and a white pickett fence you should definitely get this breed.

I want a dog that aint ugly and at the same time a protector. Golden retrivers vary in color and they can get preety big. Its just something bout' its looks, it looks loyal and friendly.

This has to be the best breed in the world. Very sweet natured, friendly but not too goofy like labs, loving, intelligent, great with kids - we just love them. This breed is commonly seen as a guide dog or service dog. They do need a lot of human contact - it is cruel to leave a golden in the back yard. This is a dog that should live inside with the humans. Medical check-ups are important; goldens can have hip problems and can develop cancer. They tend to be prone to overweight - no table scraps! Great dogs - THE BEST!
