Wed Dec 16 2009The golden gate bridge is an impressive structure to behold, and positively exquisite to watch as it emerges from the fog. Infrequent visitors, never fear, this happens most mornings, especially in the summer months. My favorite vantage point is from the Marin Headlands. I take everyone who visits me in San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge and up to this spot. There's some truly phenomenal photographs taken by Telstar Logistics from the top of the Golden Gate Bridge here. A taste: These jerks don't understand virality - embedding has been disabled.

Thu Jul 30 2009A cool structure with a distinctive color, and the site of all kinds of activities. The visibility of this bridge from your apartment/room is an important determinant of its value (Can YOU see the Golden Gate Bridge from your balcony? Only a sliver? Well, that's what you get for only paying $2000/month.) This is a good place to commit suicide, ride your bike, go on a run, and admire the San Francisco skyline. In that order.

Sat Jun 20 2009Golden gate bridge is the first tourist spot i saw in SFO. May be to create first impression is best impression! Well this bridge is awesome. to view this bridge from top of the near by hill is breathtaking. you keep gazing on it Im sure you will not know the time running. A ride on this bridge is a wonderful experience. a must see place.

Fri Jun 19 2009I walked over the Golden Gate twice and besides being scared of the height and the face an earthquake could happen at any moment it was very nice. You get some great views of San Fran and Alcatraz. If you drive around to the bottom of the bridge you get some really neat perspective shots. Also, make sure you notice the suicide helpline call box.

Thu Jun 04 2009I love driving over the bridge and looking back at the skyline of San Francisco. But if you watch the movie "The Bridge" you will have a different view on the Golden Gate Bridge. Trust me. It's an iconic structure and most people can identify it in seconds. Somebody did SOMETHING right when they deisgned and built it! I've walked across it once and the wind was a little scary so now I prefer to stay inside the vehicle! I would like to try biking over it again someday just to get over that fear!

Thu Jun 04 2009It'd be fun to walk over if you deal well with heights

Tue May 27 2008One of the most easily recognized city landmarks in the world, its an impressive engineering achievement, a thing of beauty, and one of my favorite drives in the world. Some years ago I decided to walk over it, which, given that I got caught in a foggy drizzle half way across, dimmed my enthusiasm a little.

Tue Apr 08 2008riding across the Golden Gate Bridge is the BEST!!! Going north across the bridge is slightly hard yet 100% worth it when going back (south) with the wind doing the work!

Tue Mar 25 2008Ahhh.. the Golden Gate. What can I say that hasn't already been said?

Wed Feb 27 2008One of the most photographed man-made objects in the world, the bridge is a beautiful and recognizable spot that is visible from a lot of parts of San Francisco.

Mon Feb 26 2007It's more impressive when you learn what an engineering feat it was.

Sun Feb 25 2007So while in SF I drove across it, rode under it, walked on it, etc. etc. etc. But my most memorable moment at this place was with a pigeon. We were part of this trolley tour that, surprise! went to the golden gate. While on the trolley waiting to leave, there were these pigeons in the parking lot not noticing/caring that cars were coming towards them. Most cars waited for those fat suckers to move. But some people just weren't paying attention. And we saw it coming. Watching the oblivious pigeon and the oblivious driver and knowing that death was coming, my natural reaction was to scream. OK. Makes sense. But didn't help. So there's screaming me, my laughing friend, these staring Italian tourists (who, by the way, started screaming and bolted away from the tour, not allowed to return, once they spotted Niketown...with the last one turning back saying Viva Italia before he left...I think they had just won the World Cup), a dead bird, a car rolling onward, oh, and this sunny ... Mon Oct 16 2006And for good reason. The views are fabulous (especially at sundown) of the SF skyline. The pullouts at both ends of the bridge and the area by Fort Point are worth the stop for the shutterbug in you. The bridge is free going north (towards Sausalito) and $5.00 coming south. If you have three or more people in the car the bridge troll will let you pass for free.

Wed May 17 2006In Short This soaring, stunning bridge is easy to access by car, tour bus, bike or by foot. There's no bad time to cross the bridge--unless you're a commuter in rush-hour traffic. The views--dot-sized boats far below you, the dramatic cityscape to the south and towering hills to the north--are spectacular by day or night. And if it feels like the bridge is moving, it is: Golden Gate was built to sway 27 feet from side to side as protection against powerful winds.

Thu Feb 02 2006this is the F&*(!# queerest thing i've ever seen!

Mon Sep 26 2005By far the coolest bridge I have ever seen. When I look at it from the hills on Cow Hollow walking down to the marina, especially at night, it seems like it doesn't really exist and I'm looking at a surreal image. It's such a beautiful sight it's almost eery, and if the fog's there it further adds to the mystique.

Thu Jul 22 2004A must do for everyone who visits San Francisco. On 4/7/2002, we chose to venture across the Golden Gate Bridge after lunch at Horizons in Sausalito. It was much longer than the 3/4 mile walk we were told it would take to reach the bridge but this adventure was well worth it. The view of San Francisco was truly breathtaking! It is a walk and view Tim and I will never forget!

Wed Jul 21 2004Umm, It's a bridge from point A to point B. Maybe worth a couple of pictures, but not a top attraction.

Wed Jan 28 2004I first saw the Golden Gate Bridge when I was about 6 or 7 and my aunt lived in San Francisco. We used to walk up to her roof and watch the sun over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was and still is my favorite place to be...it's so calming.

Wed Jan 28 2004The view of the Golden Gate Bridge is breathtaking no matter where you see it from and every time you see it. It's architechtural genious.

Wed Jan 28 2004What free? It costs $5.00 each way to cross. This is a great site to see, but doesn't belong in a free catagory.

Tue May 13 2003Truly a marvel of architecture. Having lived in SF for a year, the bridge looks different depending on the weather, i.e., fog, clouds, wind, sun, rain, etc. Mostly spectacular. 4 bucks to get across it by car is a bit much, though. Or it may be 5.00 now. Have not been back in a few years.

Sun Apr 06 2003The bridge is so huge. Very well maintained. Amazing engineering.

Thu Jan 30 2003there's nothing better than cruising the bridge with the california sun and breeze... if you're in the SF area, you MUST drive through!

Sat Dec 28 2002The bridge might be a wonder to behold, but in a practical sense, it is not practical. It serves an essential link from the City to Marin County, but at a expensive price. If a tourist wants to save money, he will walk across instead of driving. However, there is a real possibility that the weather would be too cold, wet, and/or windy to enjoy the walk across the span.

Tue Nov 19 2002Truly awe inspiring. I am a native S.F. but have been abroad, and still think the "city" and "the Bridge" are truly the most spectacular site seeing places in the world.

Mon Nov 11 2002You can leave you heart in SF indeed! I am so fascinated by it... its colour... its mystique beauty.

Sat Oct 19 2002the golden gate is full of history. I don't know any other bridge that is bright orange, and is known around the world.

Fri Oct 18 2002No matter the direction of the view, be it from the ocean, the bay, looking up while on a bay tour, or down from while driving over, the Golden Gate Bridge is definitely a sight to enjoy. The surroundings only add to its luster; I'd rather miss the cable car ride than seeing the "Bridge."

Mon Oct 14 2002Stay away from the crowded bridge parking looks. Instead go down to Crissy Field and enjoy incredible bridge views. Stop off at the Warming Hut for a cup of hot cocoa.

Wed Aug 07 2002Nothing beats the Golden Gate Bridge as the most breath-taking attraction San Francisco offers. From foggy afternoons when parts of the Bridge are veiled in mist, to clear sunny mornings when it shimmers in the sunlight, there is no comparison to this ultimate San Franciscan native.

Thu Jul 25 2002The GG Bridge is the most awesome structure in the nation! The history and what it stands for is inspiring. Driving across the bridge daily, i was able to see people from all over walk across, taking pictures, pointing and enjoying the view. Rain, fog, sunny days, people are walking across the GG Bridge!

Sun Jul 21 2002The Golden Gate Bridge defines San Francisco - rooted in history, beautiful and unique, people coming from all over the world, not just to see, but to experience. The product of immigrants and locals, the common vista linking cosmopolitan lifestyles with ethnic neighborhoods. A link to surrounding communities and neighbors of the Pacific shores. Romanced in songs, memorialized in pictures, symbol of The City. The stadiums, buildings, parks, museums, all beautiful, but not the same. Reflecting the glimmering sun, lights glistening through a fog shroud, indomitable in appearance and spirit. Only one Golden Gate Bridge, symbol of The City.

Sun Jul 21 2002I do like the Golden Gate Bridge, but it has become so crowded that I no longer love it. Still, though, I do get a little thrill in my heart when I see it looming on the horizon as I drive into the city from the south.
