I took a cab ride from Chicago & Western to Glenview on New Year's Eve and the cab driver told me that the charge would be $53. I agreed to that and proceeded to go home. Half way home, the driver turned off his meter. When he got off the highway he turned it back on. Meanwhile the whole ride he kept saying that I should "take care of him for the ride." The meter read $14.52 when he dropped me off. He proceeded to tell me that I must pay him $100 for the ride. I got ripped off and paid double. The police were called because I refused to pay such an outrageous amount. I ended up paying him $80 for something that should have cost me $50. I got harassed and ripped off! When I called to speak to the supervisor they did not offer adequate customer service. They did not want to refund me for the amount that I over paid, and the dispatcher was very rude! I am not calling Globe Taxi Association as a second means of transportation, nor am I getting into a cab with Ali Mubasnir. He is a scamme... Read more

On 10 July 2009, 2:13PM, I was having a coffee outside the Starbucks at Division and Dearborn in Chicago. An elderly man was bringing out a distraught, ancient, mother, to take her to her doctor. While he and she were on the corner, there were at least 24 cabs, empty, of most Chicago medallion holding companies who slowed, looked and moved on. Globe Taxi Assn Cab #1067 stopped, allowed a passerby to pickup the old woman put her in the back seat, fold and load the chair in the trunk. In the mean time, the elderly son took his coffee mug back in his building while the passerby and cab driver waited with the distraught woman. This took about 15 minutes. While watching I offered the cab driver $20 for his kindness in helping; he would have none of it. He said, "Her safety is what matters to me." It took a second passerby to help settle the two in the taxi before the driver could move on. Both, in the face of two dozen cabs not wishing to help that distraught 95 year old woman, that this d... This man be stealing from customers. I gave him a twenty dollar bill and he gave me change for a ten dollar bill and that was only the first time. The second time I gave him a ten dollar bill and he gave me change for a five dollar bill. He is a scam artist. I only see him work during the day. His car smells like urine too. He told me he is from Ghana Africa and you would think he would not steal from me cause I be black too! 1821 day driver is all I know. Take him at your own risk. I am afraid of him.

I was crossing at an intersection near Northwestern Hospital. I had the light, the cab driver not only came at me, she sped up! If I had not run out of the way, she would have run over me. She was on her cell and as she drove past me she just stared at me as if I did something wrong. Cab #1585. UNBELIEVEABLE!!! This is why I'd rather walk than take a cab. They are rude and ignorant people (yes I am classifying) and I am sick of their "we don't get paid enough" attitude. Try earning respect and the city will give you what you want. I hope if one person reads this and does not get in this cab # or go with this company, it will be one less person getting with horrible customer service.

The driver refused to drop me off at my location in Hyde Park - I guess he thought one of the million-dollar home owners was going to rob him...He wanted to drop me off 1/2 a mile from my destination, when I was carrying a Christmas basket and wearing high-heel shoes (coming from a holiday party). I told him I won't pay him unless he dropped me off at my home, and he trapped me in the cab and called the cops. The cops eventually showed up and told him to drop me off where I needed to go, with them escorting. What a loser!! Never again will I use this awful, horrid company!!

Driver ignored me and kept talking on cell phone the whole trip. He gave another driver the finger several times. All around angry personality. It was cab 1821 and I was going to work at 8am.

I know that drivers who wait for hours at O'Hare aren't thrilled with picking up a $20 fare, but I was treated to foul (f-word brand) language and a big fat lie about not accepting credit cards (eventually removed his newspaper from on top of his card reader!). If drivers do not want to accept local fares they should post a sign in their windows saying so. I always tip well and never have more than 1 piece of luggage. This guy threw my bag in his trunk and look almost disappointed that it didn't break open or get damaged. Funny thing was I told him he was going to get a $9 tip if he would just stop complaining. AND HE DIDN'T!! He also didn't get out of the cab to help with me my bag. Luckily for him (and his other Globe pals), I will never get into another Globe Taxi again ANYWHERE! Too bad, I usually require a cab 2-3 times a month at O'hare and I always tip up to $30 from the $20 and change fare. I think: If you don't like driving a cab, then get a different job! Don't take i... Read more
