Tue Jul 07 2009I used another groomer with my other dogs (RIP) but my current one hated it. I tried some other groomers to find the right fit with no luck ...

Mon Feb 02 2009I've taken my poodle mix to Gizzie's about 4 times now and I have NEVER been disappointed. My pooch always comes back looking perfect. In my impatience on a booked day, I took her to petsmart, and when she came back to me with some kind of weird mohawk and ears cut at an angle at $20 MORE than Gizzie's charges that will NEVER happen again. I'd recommend Gizzie's to anyone and everyone!!! They do THE best work at the best price!

Thu Jan 29 2009i have brought my 2 dogs to gizzies before. Once before they nicked my smaller dog and it was no big deal because they tend to move around a lot while having a haircut. But recently they cut my larger dog much deeper and the poor thing has an inflammed leg and is having to take antibiotics because of the infection she has now. I think Gizzie's should have refunded at least half of my larger dog's haircut, but all they did was apologize, even though it has happened before. If you dont want your dog being nicked by a possibly infected clipper, do NOT go to this place.

Mon Jan 12 2009The address of Gizzie's Grooming Shop is not on W. Alabama. It is on 2056 Sul Ross. CitySearch, yes , is a way of getting information about a business, but it requires an owner to pay to be a member to change information such as an address. The owners of the shop did not put their information on this site, so why would the owner have to pay a membership fee to change any information. This website can be misleading to anyone trying to find the shop, or get the right hours of operation (7-6pm Mon-Fri, 7-2 Sat.). The address at Sul Ross, is one block from W. Alabama. Almost right behind the address from 2037 W. Alabama. PLease feel free to call 713-521-3693 to get the right address and directions.

Mon Dec 15 2008I have a Maltese puppy that I take to Gizzie's. They do such an amazing job on her. She has loads of fun playing with the other dogs and comes back so nice and silky soft. Would not take her anywhere else.

Wed Nov 12 2008I have used Gizzie's Groom shop since I moved to Houston in 1997. They do an excellent job grooming my Samoyed and mixed-breed dogs, not to mention my friend's dogs too. My dogs are always happy and exhausted when the come home. Gizzies allows dogs who are waiting to be groomed to "roam/play" with all the other dogs who are waiting in the grooming area. For dogs who socialize well with others, this is an added "play time" bonus. For those who prefer not to let their dogs roam or who have dogs that do not socialize well, Gizzies offers the proper facilities for their safety and comfort. The shop is always clean and all their staff are courteous. I highly recommend this shop!

Fri Oct 31 2008After reading some reviews and wanting to give Gizzie's a chance, I did. I took my 09 month old ShihTzu and when I first walked in, they did not bother to ask in detail what I wanted. They were very short and seemed as if annoyed. As a believer in giving second chances, I decided to book another appointment. I asked for a trim around the face and under his face, and it did not happen. I came from PetSmart and believe it or not, they did a much, much better job. Much more attentive and hygienic. Because my groomer at PetSmart has moved to another location, I decided to start looking again.

Wed Oct 01 2008i have been going to gizzies for a while but have noticed the last few times that my dog has not been bathed and i take special shampoo. for the first time ever he did not get a good cut, it was really botched and he had quite a few nicks where they got too close to the skin plus it was not the cut i requested. i hope that they are not so consumed with taking on more business than they can handle and compromising on quality.

Mon May 19 2008My dogs love Gizzie's! I have two high maintenance Shi-poos, and Gizzie's takes care of them much better than anyone else. I took them once to Petco and I will never do it again. Gizzie's does take a little longer than petsmart and Petco, but my dogs have so much fun when they are there I don't mind the longer time. I have recommended Gizzie's to several friends and everyone loves them.

Wed Jan 10 2007Always a great job grooming my Yorkie. I love to watch all the pups swirling around when I come to pick her up. Much better job than Petsmart and much lower cost. This is a friendly, neighborhood business that doesn't disappoint!

Sun Jun 11 2006I brought my puppy in for a bath and asked that they trim her paws, bum and pluck her ears. When I picked her up none of the above was done but for some reason they decided to trim the hair around her eyes. I was less than pleased. I am not even sure that they used the conditioner on the fur that I paid extra for. Not impressed

Mon May 08 2006I have two 2!!! Standard poodles, one that is older and rather well behaved and a huge baby that is still trying to figure life out. Gizzie does a great job with both of them. They get great haircuts and the price is very reasonable. Gizzie is great and does a great job of taking good care of my babies. Love that they get to socialize with the other brothers and sisters!

Sun Jan 01 2006I have been taking my dogs (two lhasa apsos) for over 15 years. He does a great job, and is gentle and they love him! My elder lhasa died last summer, and Gizzie knows that I feed them super healthy food, he advised me to give him table scraps (Fuji was losing weight) and let him enjoy his last days. It was such caring advice, and Fuji had a great time getting steak, chicken and cheese his last two months. My female Lhasa, Bettina, knows Gizzie also, and she perks up when she knows she is going. He has also pointed out health problems that I have not noticed (my animals are not complainers). I feel he not only does a good job, but really cares about my animals well-being. My only complaint is that they are sometimes too firm on closing time, even before their posted 6 p.m.

Thu Dec 01 2005My friend recently recommended me to try out Gizzy's and I was very pleased. My dog looked better than she ever had after grooming and she wasn't caged up either. She loves to socialize so Gizzy's is the perfect place for her. We used to go to PetSmart where we paid $50 and Gizzy's was only $35!

Thu Nov 17 2005Gizzies is incredible. I own a petsitting business and a "pup shuttle" and we take several of our four legged clients to Chuy who owns Gizzies. They are very nice and excellent groomers. I found out about Gizzies several years ago while talking to the former wife of the mayor of houston in line at a Starbucks. Almost every time I go I see some socialite dropping off their very pampered pup! Best of all, their prices are more than competitive, they are actually lower than the hideous groomers at PetSmart! Just be sure to ask for a pick up time so they know when they need to have them ready. Gizzies is great and all my clients are chomping at the bit to go in whenever I pull up in front of their groom shop to drop them off!

Sun Aug 07 2005They would always tell me to pick up my pup at 1 but was never ready on time, I had to wait 45 min at least. The last time I went i decided to pick up my pup around 1:45-2:00 pm since they would always make me wait (Saturday). I get a call around 1:30 pm that I had 5 minutes to pick him up or they were going to lock him in until Monday. I told they I was on my way. When I got there they charged $20 extra for 30 minutes that i was late. Plus they kept telling me they live far and that is why they close early...I am the customer and you don't make comments like that to anyone bacause as a costumer I don't care where you live I am giving you business and that is all that should matter to them.

Fri Sep 10 2004We took our dog to Gizzie's based on recommendations from friends with well-groomed dogs. We've had excellent experiences at Gizzie's. Our dog is always impeccably groomed & smells wonderful when we pick him up. Chuy will ask you when you want to drop your dog off & will let you know when he/she will be ready. The staff there is very friendly & communicative. I love the fact that the dogs are not simply left in their cages - the dogs all get to roam about in an enclosed area & socialize. I don't feel so guilty about leaving my dog there for several hours. If you prefer, you can request that your dog be left in a cage. I highly recommend Gizzie's for the grooming & care of your dog.

Tue Aug 31 2004I dropped my toy poodle off one morning, only to pick up up before closing and he wasn't even near finished. Not only that, but I highly suspect that they even gave him a bath! NEVER GO THERE! There are too many grooming places in houston to choose from for this kind of service.

Sat Nov 16 2002I have a very pampered shih tzu who has been going to Gizzie's for over a year. She is always groomed to perfection complete with colorful hairbow. The value, quality of cut, and customer service is superior to every other groomer I have tried.
