I've only bought Gevalia not via mail order but from supermarkets where it was on sale. The coffee tastes good but I'm glad I did not pay a lot of money for it. Pre-ground coffee does not always taste that good or that fresh but Gevalia's does.

There are several over-the-counter ointments that will clear up Gevalia in 7 to 10 days. Ask your doctor.

Don't sign up.. They are a ripoff.. They charge outrageous prices. When you try canceling shipments, they keep shipping and charging your credit card. Their customer service is rude and they argue with you and talk over you...

The worst company I've had to deal with in a long time. Have been a customer for over 10 years and don't remember having many issues in the past. Then last year, they sent out a shipment of coffee we didn't order and billed us for it. We sent it back for a refund, which they credited back to our account, but they still wanted us to pay the shipping fee. We refused, spoke with several CS agents, each one promising to remove the charge from our account in "2-3 weeks". Of course it was never removed, and after a few months of going back and forth with them, they sent our account to the collection agency for the $5 shipping fee. At that point, it was easier to just pay $5 to the collection agency to leave us alone than to keep fighting with them. Needless to say, we canceled out account with Gevalia and will never spend another dime with that worthless company.

Their coffee is disgusting and it's impossible to cancel your account online, even though they use that as a selling point when advertising their specials. Yes, there's an online form, but when you select "cancel account" it kicks you to a chat function that doesn't work. I saw a review from 2008 stating the same thing. If this has been going on for 3 years, it's intentional. When I called their customer service number to cancel, the rep refused to send me confirmation of the cancellation. Instead he gave his customer service ID number to me, whatever that is. I'm waiting for these guys to try to charge my account for something I didn't order. If they do, they're getting a chargeback and a call to the attorney general's office.

If there were a minus rating, I would give Gavalia a (-5). The shame of it all, is that the coffee is very good, but the billing and customer service departments are terrible. Eight years ago I cancelled my subscription because they kept on billing me for $58.00, which had been actually paid. After months of going back and forth with Gavalia they gave the account to a collection agency. Fortunately I had saved a copy of the notice from Gevalia that they had corrected THEIR error and that I in fact I had a zero balance. It also helped that I had a copy of my bank statement showing that Gevalia had cashed the check for $58.00 several months prior. We did without the coffe for 6 years and then I decided I would give them a second try. They would not let me become a member again, stating that I had owed them $58.00. I couldn't believe it. I should have known then that things had not changed at Gevalia but we enjoyed the coffe so much that we opened up another account in my wifes... Read more

Ive been a member for 4 yrs and i love it the cusomer service has always been very polite to me and when ever i had a problem with my coffee or orders they were so nice once i didnt like the coffee and they sent me a replacement and let me keep the one i didnt like for free and not charge me for it and another time i ordered decaf by accident and i called and told them and they sent my new coffee and let me keep the decaf and not charge me which was nice cause i got to give the decaf to my mom which she liked so i guess maybe its how you speak and treat people you will eventually get treated the way you treat others i believe and every one has their difference of opinions and you cant believe everyone opinions you just have to try it for yourself then you can judge but as for me and my husband and guests who come to our home they all love the coffee .

It's definately not worth the trouble! I ordered the coffee maker, mug, and two bags of coffee for my wife and received horrible customer service from Gevalia. I asked to speak with a manager and he wasn't any better. I'll never buy anything from them again. I don't know how you can expect to sell coffee successfully and treat your new customers like crap.

I hope I can give it less than one star.....I ordered a two cup coffee maker. It arrived and did not seem very sturdy, it and the mugs were cheaply made and had an odd plastic odor. Every cup I have made tastes like it has melted plastic in the bottom of the cup and an odd odor. I emailed Gevalia asking if there was a "break in period" or of it would fade or get better. They said it was abnormal in the first email response so I replied and asked what to do about it and they said they had already sent me another one. I answered and said I didn't want ANOTHER bad coffee maker and they said it had shipped already and that I may be billed for additional shipping charges!!! I am going to return the one I have, refuse the second one and call my credit card company to have any and all charges reversed...AVOID GEVALIA AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Just stumbled on this (rateitall) site Googling Gevalia to get their web address, to check on my shipment. All the negative comments boggle my mind. What's up people-- a little too much caffeine? I've been a Gevalia customer for years and have never had a problem. It's good coffee! It arrives on time-- sometimes I'm amazed that the shipment arrives just as I'm about to run out! Yes they occasionally feature a holiday special and you need to read the circular with care because it requires you to opt out-- this happened to me once a few years back and I called and they credited my account immediately and didn't ask me to send the coffee back, so in fact I ended up with several packages of coffee for free. What's there to complain about? The product is excellent, and my experience with customer service has also been very good.

Notorious for illegal selling practice with unauthorized charge to consumers' credit card. The credit card information is obtained illegally. YOU MUST FILE YOUR REPORT TO Delaware Dept. of Justice directly because the business is located in Delaware. Here is the information: http://attorneygeneral.delaware.gov/consumers/prote ction/complaint.shtml You can file a complaint online. DA of Delaware contacted Gevalia recently after my report to DA. Gevalia asked me to file a complaint to my local police dept. So the local police dept. created a case no. and contacted DA of Delaware. I hope they can find who is leaking and abusing the consumers' credit card information. Some of gevalia's coffee is good. But their customer service is the worst and most unreasonable I've ever dealt with. I was having coffee delivered 20 years ago with automatic payment through my bank. I changed my bank and forgot to change Gevalia to the new bank so one shipment came without me paying on time. Instead of calling or notifying there was a problem they cancelled all service, even though I paid them immediately on finding out what the problem was - why I wasn't getting coffee. Then a few months ago I thought I'd give them a try again. They blocked all my efforts to sign up without an explanation so I called -waited 20 minutes to get a person on the phone - who then finally said they'd "let me" start delivery again. I got 2 deliveries then all of a sudden my deliveries were "suspended" without explanation. I contacted them and they said they couldn't deliver to me because of the non-payment (which I paid) 20 years earlier!! That's after I paid for 2 deliveries. I ... Read more

I used to be a big fan of Gevalia until recently. I received a shipment of a "specialty" coffee that I did not request. I sent it back "Return to Sender" and received a postcard saying that they received the shipment back. For the last 5 months I have been trying to get the outstanding amount for the coffee I sent back removed from my account. Each time I call and talk to a CSR, I get the reply, "Your account will be credited in 2-3 days." When I think it has been taken care of, I receive another letter from a collection agency trying to collect the money. So, I call and speak to another CSR at Gevalia and again get told my account will be credited in 2-3 days. Then I receive another letter from the collection agency and the cycle continues. I did not order that coffee, I do not have that coffee, and I will not pay the $41.75 just so the collection agency will stop sending me notices. This is ridiculous and there is no other number I can call to get this resolved or an address... Read more

**Spoiler Alert** You have been warned. This company is terrible. Customer Service: Poor (I believe Out Sourced to India) My reps "Sally" and "Matt" who both had no idea where California was after they told me it would take 2 weeks to deliver my coffee from Phoenix Arizona. Recently Ordered coffee on June 25th 2010. (I was told it would be sent out that day) by "Sally" Got my email confirmation saying that my order was SHIPPED on July 2nd 2010. Called today July 12th 2010 wondering where my order was "Matt" helped me out and said that my order was SHIPPED July 7th 2010. Provided me with a tracking number. Tracking number VIA UPS, showed it was not SHIPPING until today. (July 12th 2010) I asked why was I told that it would be shipped on the 25th June? Matt's response "I'm sorry sir, but sometimes it takes some time to get our orders out" I asked again "But why was I told it would be SHIPPED on the 25th of June?" Coffee is not bad, but this is another company ripping off all customers in Hawaii and Alaska. They charge an extra $5.00 to ship the coffee here, using USPS. USPS charges the same exact rate for all 50 states, so the extra $5.00 they charge is nothing more than a penalty for those living in Hawaii and Alaska. Again, it does not cost them one more penny than it does to ship it anywhere else in the US, so not only is the coffee expensive I will not deal with companies who rip off on shipping, and have reported this as postal fraud. I hope it cost them dearly along with the cancellation. I did cancel and did it as suggested above by returning it, making them pay for shipping both ways.

My mom used to get Gevalia coffee. They have a lot of flavored blends, none of which I care for too much. Nothing very special about this coffee, if you like flavors (not French Roast or Columbian for example but like Irish Cream, Hazelnut etc.) than you will like this coffee. If you want a more standard upscale taste than this isn't for you.

When I signed up, I was told I would be shipped the three coffees and a travel mug for three dollars. When my order didn't ship for a few days, I emailed customer service. I simply asked if I was correct in reading that my order was still in process and had not yet shipped. They were very helpful and provided more information than I had asked for. She told me that my items were on back-order and that they weren't sure exactly when they would be shipped but that they'll come soon. She also listed the items that I had ordered to make sure it was correct. Although I haven't received my coffee, yet, I'm looking forward to trying it. The customer service I had was great. I'm sorry about your experiences and how they effected the way you felt about the company. For the record, though, I was pleased.

OMG! a Terrible rating is an understatement. Customer Service = FAIL! Organic Peruvian Coffee = FAIL! I do not know how this business operates. I couldnt even cancell my account online. YOU HAVE TO CALL THEM TO CANCEL. I guess I over looked the fine print. when I called this asian guy with a filippino accent answered and he dare to give me attitude for wanting to cancel my account. I was trying to let him know that the website should have an option to activate and reactivate my account. He then asked " is there anything else?" I said no and he just hung up! That bit$%! He didnt even confirm that my account has been cancelled. I called back to make sure they cancelled it and made a complaint. Screw this place!

Good coffee, poor service. I ordered because two friends recommended their coffee as being some of the best, got the three 1/2 lb packs for $3 with a free travel cup as I didn't need a coffeemaker. Took about three weeks to arrive. The cup has a strange twist-seal in the lid which quit working after several uses (i.e. even when closed, coffee would still come out). Threw it away. I then placed an order for an extra shipment in November when their website offered 10% off and free shipping on orders over $50. Only on the last page AFTER the order was placed did it show that they actually charged me the full price and shipping. I tried many times to use the online customer service form, which is supposed to go to chat but it never worked. I phoned just a couple days after placing the online order and the customer service rep with a very thick accent had no idea about what promos were being offered on the website, told me I was probably supposed to enter a promo code (no, there wa... I don't actually mind the coffee, but it is expensive and customer service is horrendous. When signing up for the service, it clearly stated that I could control the amount of coffee. I opted for two boxes every 12 weeks in late July. We knew it was a splurge and therefore only wanted to treat ourselves to it every once in a while. As soon as we signed up, Gevalia started calling about 12 times a day. The first few calls I answered and it was usually someone with a thick accent asking if I wanted to order any of their special coffees or increase my order and frequency. I told them to stop calling and even asked for supervisors to guarantee I'd been put on their do not call list. So I received our second shipment in November and then a week later got another shipment. This time it was for four boxes of their holiday blend. After reading back over the terms of service that stated they would ONLY send that coffee after notifying me in advance, I was annoyed. They never notified me, unle... Read more

Their Breakfast Blend is the only coffee they have that I thought was superior to store bought. The Breakfast Blend is worth trying and I recommend it. However, with so many competitors now who are bringing the price of coffee down, I can't justify the added expense for Gevalia.

I think the coffee is mediocre. By now there are several online coffee companies that specialize in gourmet and organic coffees and the price is similar. The one I'm trying now (so far so good) is Camano Island Coffee. When I signed up I actually spoke with the roaster/proprietor and got a free coffee tin out of it. Most important, it was the best coffee I've ever tasted. Hopefully someone else here has tried this company as knows what I mean. Similar to Gevalia, the shipping was free, too. I urge anyone serious about their coffee to sneak a taste... (imho) Here's the link: http://www.camanoislandcoffee.com if you are interested!

I would only have to pay $1. for future shipments which I agreed to, they billed my credit card the $29.95 plus the $10. fee for the shipping and handling promotion, now I find out that I do not get my shipping and handling for this amount but have to pay full price, they are really dumb people here as no one knows what I am talking about. Was a Gevalia fan for 15 years. Have spent over $12,000 dollars. Occasionally the coffee was 'off' (fish smell) but generally we loved it. We had some problems with a shipment a year back and went through HELL with customer service to get it replaced (they shipped us the wrong product, we were billed and we had to ship their mistake back before they would ship us a new shipment - to this day this was never resolved). We overlooked it. On our last shipment - shipment #175 - we received an unsealed box in our regular monthly shipment of 10 boxes for the month. Called customer service. Was interrogated. Was told to ship back this one stupid single 1/2 lb box so they could send out a new one. Are you kidding me! I cancelled the 15 year membership. Told them to forget the replacement as I was throwing the single box away. They supposedly cancelled the membership - and sent me a replacement single box! - and billed me for their mistake!!!. So far I've had 2 coffeemakers break in less than 6 months, and they double billed me which put me into the red in my bank account. After numerous calls, they said this was normal because they had to "check" to see if the money was there. After the payment had already come out, they still hadnt refunded. They kept telling me it was the banks fault. My bank told me it was them putting the money on hold, and it was Gevalias fault. My bank told me to get a faxed letter from a manager stating to release the money back to me. They refused!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They told me basically to suck it up and wait. I told her it was not her money to hold, since they had already gotten their money. After 3 nasty phone calls threatening me filing fraud charges against them, I finally got my money back 2 weeks later. Customer Service couldnt understand why I was so mad. I received 2lbs of coffee and the stainless steel coffeemaker 2 weeks ago. I just tried it this morning and I have to say the coffee sucks. It has a strong bitter taste and this was even after I threw out the first blend and tried the second. The coffeemaker looks nice and it worked fine but it's certainly not the best coffeemaker in the world. I called customer service and the representative offered to help me select a different blend (which is normal after the company has invested in sending a coffeemaker and coffee for about $16 which includes shipping), but I said no thanks and asked if I should return everything. She responded, "No, you can keep it, your account has been cancelled, and there is no balance on your account." So far so good and I don't expect to see any new charges!

Stay away from this cheat if you don't want lots of troubles as you want to cancel the order; Gevalia won't make it easy for you to do such a thing.Customers assumed that they could get " a trial wilth 14.99" with " valued coffee maker" as the ads said and cancel anytime at will!! Reality proved that "order comfirmation feedback" with no invoice number nor tracking number!!Terrible; one more thing, if you want to cancel the order customer Representatives will politely ask you to reveal your debit account!!!?? with "a pledge such as they need that to make refund", you should not fall for that or you will regreted later. One more thing, they post their website with "order cancelation" didn't work, you have to go through customer feedback !!!??what a hell??Don't let their dencent outlook website and great gift as they promissed cheated you.Try it and then say sorry for it!!

We had a Gevalia coffeemaker in our office that quit after 1-1/2 years. I called customer service and they could not offer anything beyond buying a new one at full retail price, because the warranty was only one year. I asked to talk with the supervisor and still nothing more was offered. I've had coffeemakers for 10-15 years and expected this one to last that long. The supervisor admitted that the coffeemakers she had there have lasted 5-7 years. I was very disappointed that they could offer me nothing beyond the strict letter of the warranty. For 99 bucks I'd expect something more reliable! I won't buy a Gevalia coffemaker and unfortunately my feelings extend to the whole brand. I guess I'm spoiled by Target and Eddie Bauer, who understand that you need to stand by your products to keep happy customers. I will stay away from Gevalia.

Over 3 months ago in early January, 2009, I ordered a replacement carafe for the "free" coffee maker they sent me. The wrong one was sent. I called and was assured they would send me a return address label. After a month, I called again and was told the same thing. The third time I asked for a supervisor and was told it would be handled. The forth time, I threatened to put up a youtube video and promised results. This was Andy employee number 643113 on April 2. Still nothing in the mail. On April 20 I called again and was told that my credit card had been refunded, but to get the proper carafe I had to re-order and be charged. I said, "You have got to be kidding. After 3 months of hell?" I still have not heard from them, nor do I expect to. I am stuck with the wrong carafe cluttering my house. I will never do business with these jerks again. Update: I sent this review to Gevalia and received an email response saying the same stupid thing: my card had been refunded (btw. something I n... I've been with Gevalia for 2 years now. The coffee maker is a decent coffee maker. I cant complain about. I mean, it's not great but it is better then the $30 ones in the store. I've been using my maker for 2 years, everyday it brews one pot of coffee. Weekends it brews 2 pots each morning. Like I said, I have no complaints about the maker. Can go wrong with it being free! The Coffee - We cant get enough of it. Everyone who i have made the coffee for loves it. I have turned 16 people to Gevalia and they have become members. I have not heard any complaints from any of them either. Back to the coffee. If you are a coffee lover, then this coffee is for you. If you are the type of person that likes instant coffee, then you will not find the pleasure in drink this. It is a little pricey but it's not something that I drink everyday. I ordered my coffemaker, coffee and mug on 1/12/09 and received it yesterday (1/19/09). I have not gotten to use it yet. I have noticed many people complaining about water and coffee spilling when they pour. That can happen with any coffee pot. The one I have now that I bought at the store drips water all over if I try to pour too fast. The coffee pot at my work is the same way. For everybody that has complained about the coffee maker think about this, you got it for free! It's stupid to complain about a product you got for free. You complain about it breaking but that can happen with a coffee maker from the store. I have had 2 in the last 4 years. Again, quit complaining about a free product. Obviously the company can't be that bad if they have so many satisfied customers. There are always people that are going to have a bad experience with any company. I did get to use my mug this moring and am extremely happy with it. I can't wait to try the coffee.

I am very disturbed by some of these reviews, they read as if written by some permanently angry individuals. My 5-star experience has been on and off for the last 15 years, so I have about 4 different account numbers but despite the confusion I have had no problems. I've cancelled three different times and I was never given the hard sell at any time. I've gone through four different coffee makers, and usually the teflon heating surface goes before the maker does. The 12-cup programmable coffee maker brews delicious coffee in a flash, and it has a lifetime warranty as long as you are in the program, so I'm not sure why one reviewer had a problem getting hers replaced. And the coffee itself, although pricey is very good. Living in Seattle I've had the opportunity to pour for a number of coffee snobs and friends and neighbors alike are never disappointed. In fact I think if it weren't for Gevalia I wouldn't be such good friends with my neighbor, who stops by about once a week now to see i... Read more

Instead of a courteous email or letter from the company reminding of the outstanding balance and the fact that they had trouble with my debit card, I get a letter from a COLLECTION AGENCY threatening to ruin my credit if I didn't pay up. I immediately called Gevalia to pay the balance and cancel. The representative was dumb as a pile of bricks and didn't have any kind of apology to offer. STAY AWAY!!!

Coffee is pretty good, but it is impossible to cancel your account online. You can suspend temporarily, but it's annoying. If you want to cancel, you have to go to the customer service form, which kicks you into a "Chat" function, which never works. Then you have to call them and they try to give you free lifetime shipping and they challenge every reason why you want to cancel. At that point you're so mad, that you want to cancel and burn them on forums like this. The CS person was rude, spoke really fast and totally had an attitude. Good riddance. I would never sign up for this again.

Just canceled my 10 year service with Gevalia. They double billed me and customer service was horrible. Stacy was the worst, she talked to me like I was not worth her time. Do yourself a favor, don't get taken in by the free items, they really don't care about the customer. Buy Dunkin Donuts coffee instead!

Albagee, yes the coffee maker was free, in exchange for buying Gevalia coffee. If the maker is a piece of crap like mine, why would I continue buying Gevalia coffee. A company should put it's best foot forward if they want people to continue buying their product. I would give this maker a zero star, but the rating system won't let me.

People are so stupid for complaining about a coffee maker they got for FREE and then calling customer service to try and finagle a new out out of the company. Shame on all of you.

My coffee maker broke after a tiny little plastic part broke off. I'm very unhappy. Why do they use plastic on parts that will wear out in a year?

I've been buying Gevalia for years and wouldn't be without it. No other brand comes close, but then, everyone's taste is different. I did not receive the free coffee maker, so I can't comment, but I've no doubt it's probably a cheaper model being offered as your free gift for joing. There was a different offer at the time that I joined. They have a catalog in which they sell a variety of coffees, teas, coffeemakers, etc. I am considering purchasing one of their more expensive (for me anyway) coffee makers. They offer a 10% discount for club members and free shipping.
