Sun Jan 03 2010I never got that cat or dog I wanted. My mom was a single mom and we just couldn't afford that. I did get a rabbit when I was ten, but I couldn't exactly play with her and she didn't let me pet her so I did get frustrated and we gave her to a farmer. I did, however grow up around other animals. A friend of my mom's had three German Shepherds and one Irish setter/Labrador mix. They were great dogs, especially Rex, one of the German Shepherds. I've known those dogs all my life and thinking that they are all gone now makes me wanna cry :(. But I digress, they weren't my pets. If they would have been mine I most likely would have rated this five stars.

Wed Jul 01 2009A little red-eared slider named Ted. I got him when I was nine and had him a few years until he Died when I was 14, of some sort of illness. (My guess is pneumonia) Ever since then I've had a Turtle shaped hole in my heart. He was an awesome pet.

Fri May 08 2009My parents had a dog before they had any kids, so we always had a pet in the house. It was always fun when a new pet would be brought into the house, but I don't have a memory of a first pet.

Fri May 08 2009Sadly, my first pet(s) were a tank of goldfish. Everyday when I got home from school, I would go right to the fish tank and sat right in front of it for hours until my mom called me for dinner. I used to pet my fish too, and I swear they liked it.

Sat Feb 02 2008My Dad always had hunting beagles that lived in a pen and were just for hunting....we later got a poodle for in the house but Mom really wasn't hip on house dogs and it had problems, so we returned it to the breeder. I guess my first real pet was my first horse at age 13 and the barn cat that I later got...by 16 I had three horses and "Melony" the barn cat...

Tue Feb 27 2007It was a Maltese dog of whom I was mortified. In my mind the poor thing seemed like a godzilla and the coward that i was I screamed and cried every chance I got until we had to give it up. My sister didn't talk to me for weeks, LOL...

Tue Feb 27 2007Bandit and Bigfoot. Bandit was a husky/wolf mix that I got for my 2nd birthday from my neighbor and BigFoot was a cat that my mom had gotten when she was pregnant with my brother. (We named him that because he had 6 claws on his front feet haha)

Tue Feb 27 2007I don't remeber getting my first pet, but I do remember getting my last one. L.P., my black cat of 17 years, was about a month old when my mom brought him home.

Sun May 22 2005I don't remember getting my first pet; our first family pets in my memory was Lucky and Fozzie, guard dogs for our restaurant. I wasn't really allowed to play with them much (well, they WERE guard dogs). I remember seeing a pamphlet about blind dogs shortly before Fozzie went away, I didn't really understand what they meant by putting him to sleep, I just knew he was never going to come back home. Then some time later Lucky had a lump on her paw; I was excited to wake up one morning to find her in our backyard, instead of in the yard at our restaurant. I thought she was going to come live with us, but, well, that didn't happen.

Sat May 21 2005My first pet was a beautiful kitten called Katie, I was about five years old. I remember how pretty her eyes were and people remarking what a pretty cat we had. I called her a more human name as I couldn't stand names people called their pets like Fluffy, Minty and Tabby etc. Unfortunately we couldn't afford to keep her and my Mum knew how much I loved this kitten so she gave her away when I was at a birthday party one day to a nice old lady who lived by herself.

Fri May 20 2005Tippy was a border collie mix I think. She was a sweet dog that I barely remember now. Sadly, she was either stolen or ran away during a storm when we left her at my grandparents house when we went on vaction one summer.

Fri May 20 2005My first dog can hardly be compared to any other dog. My parents got him right around when I was born. My aunt had a pregnant dog and told my mom she could have the pick of the litter. So my mom went over, got this dog and brought him home. She always told me he was hienz 57, but he looked mostly like an irish setter. My dad got so mad when she brought him home, he at that time was a pig farmer and didn't have the money for another mouth to feed. So he took the puppy angrily, threw him into the barn with all the pigs. The dog grew up with the pigs. Somewhere along the line, my father found out he was an excellent hunter and they would go hunting all of the time together. This was the point at which my dad started to like the dog. He was the kind of dog where if he tripped and made a fool of himself, if you laughed, he would give you this look like oh my god I'm so embarrassed This dog lived to a ripe old age, and we all loved him dearly. When he died, it was a very sad day, in spite o... Read more

Thu May 19 2005My first pet was a small Fox Terrier named Trixie. She was a great little dog. I have had so many dogs over my lifetime but she was my first. I've only had one other dog that holds an equal place in my heart, which ironicly was my kids first dog, Pepper, a beautiful and loving Sheltie.
