George Killian's Irish Red

One of my favorite red beers, smooth, tatsy, not bitter, malt & carmel notes, and still a little hop bite to remind you that this is indeed a beer with real flavor.

I was praying for a cheap irish red ale. Come to find out it tastes like water and is actually a red lager. What in the hell is an irish red lager. I've had a lot of different beers and have never heard of a red lager. What a bunch horse shit.

It's an Irish beer from Colorado, totally unavailable in Ireland. It has more flavor than most Coors products, but has that carbonation that only large corporate breweries can do.

Good on St. Patricks day, The Beer and I can both pretend we're actually Irish. It's not the worst beer in the entire world, but not normally my first choice either.

George Killian's Irish Red is okay, but not great. It's too watery and bland. But, it's obviously better than light beer. There are other better red beers out there (like Abita's red ale). Killian's is probably comparable to Michelob Amber Bock or Shiner Bock, two other red and bland lagers. RJT

Great head, taste, apperence and texture. A true lager.

Certainly I find George Killian's Irish Red more palatable than Coors Light, but it really is not a good beer by any means. Since you pay a premium for this, why not get an amber beer from a craft brewery or an import instead? This is more watery than a "real" amber lager.

About the same level as Henry Winehard Private Reserve price and quality-wise. Would take one anytime over regular Coors. About three and one-half stars. I had some one time after the Coors Brewery tour. It was fatastic on tap at the brewery hospitality center. I have yet to find that taste in a bottle of Killian's Red. I wish it were so. A fine introduction to more flavorful beers. Good value too.

A decent beer with a little bitterness, a better than average macro that is rich in color and creamy in texture

Hey, for a bottle beer out of Colorado, it's not that bad. For that matter I am drinking one right now. Of course I ran out of MacTarnahan's first, but still it's OK. Actually I then finished off the Bridgeport Haymakers, but still it's an allright brew... Ok maybe I'm a bit toasted, but hell it's beer and it cold.

Why the change in flavor? I can't buy the bottles with the red and cream colored bottle cap, only ones with a black cap and a gold horsehead on it. This beer tastes very different to the Killians I am used to. I can still buy the old flavor at the ballpark at a Tides game. It's the best tasting beer. This new Killians is as bad as Budweiser.

Good clean flavor, much better than the mediocre Coors, and lightyears ahead of the tasteless Coors Light. Wonder why Coors can't get the others to evidence some flavor? Never understood people who were enamored of Coors, anyway.

I haven't had a Killian's in a couple of years probably, but I have never had a problem with it. I'm hip to the fact that its a Coors product, and not actually Irish or a craft brew. However, it still gets the job done.

I just tried it for the first time today, just BLAND and not very good.

Oooo, It's fanceh cause it's dark! Nah. It's bland, bland, bland, though that's what one expects from coors. But hey, it's a lot better than other stuff.

This is a tolerable megabrew. Maltier, and more flavorfull than your average swill lager. Drinkable, and pleasant.

It can get bland tasting after awhile. My dad fell in love with this stuff after we had it for St. Patty's Day.

my dad makes his own home brew. although my dad's beer is stronger(3X the alcohol, 2 bottles will do ya),they both taste the same.

This is a great beer well suited for hearty meals like steaks and mexican foods. Its flavor is simple, and bold enough to keep me drinking. This is my standard beer when I go to most restuarants, since it's not expensive and more interesting than most other domestics out there. It is indeed manufactured by Coors (unibev), which is really a suprise. This is the only Coors product I enjoy.

My favorite beer! Nice and smooth and always cheap on St. Patrick's Day.

An awful sour tasting beer!!!!!

I have not had this in years but it is a good brew. Could be a bit of an aquired taste for some but if you like some thing different you should try it.

This may be made by Coors but it's by far the best thing Coors has made. It has a nice light carmel flavor and a nice red color but it's in no way a real Irish beer.

Unless it is on tap, don't waste your time. No depth and flat.

The best beer yet! This is a must try for all who enjoy a tasty lager. Creamy, smooth, not too hoppy.

This "beer" is a farce and a lie. I have no idea why this swill is so popular, I guess alot of people must really enjoy hangovers and wannabes.

That's about it - OK. The name is a lot better than the beer. The beer is a bit "chewy" for my taste. However, if I an faced with the decision of Killian's or Bud (or Lite or any other bullshit swill) I'll take a Killian's every time.

A faux import. Wee-wee in a bottle. Gives you the worst hangovers. Only drank it once because the next day I thought I contracted cholera.

Very decent mass-produced bottle. Never left me feeling bad the day after- a nice choice.

A total pretend-to-be-import ripoff. Take a generic supermarket beer (in this case Coor's I guess) add some red food coloring, give it an Irish sounding name (let's call it Killian's so that people might confuse it with the real Irish beer Kilkenny). Voila, you have the perfect beer for the wannabe high-brow redneck. Ignorance is bliss.

This beer is almost like candy. The great, smooth tasting beer, ever! It's too sad it's hard to find in Southern California.

Although it isn't an actual import beer as we are led to believe, it is a very good beer, IMO.

Killians Irish Red is wanna be pretender of an import beer. It makes a good attempt, but falls flat on so many levels. The color is less amber, and more like a regular pilsner with food coloring added. The taste in unimpressive, downright lackluster. If you are faced with the choice of a Budweiser or a Killian's, I'd still choose the Killian's.

When I was in college this was one of the only beers I would drink. I am normally a wine or mixed drink kind of girl. However, when I am at dinner and want something to complement chicken wings or some other casual meal I prefer a nice beer like this.

This beer is only good when ICE cold, i.e., when you can't taste it. I still wonder why this beer gets put in the imported / specialty beer section of the store. The power of American marketing at work! Beware of drinking too much. This beer has its share of chemicals in it and produces a nasty hangover.

Love this beer! I can't comprehend how anyone can say this tastes anything like Coors' other products. Other than a few European ales, THIS is it - first choice every time! Bottle or draft, it tastes like no other!

Extremely great really cold!!! First started drinking this beer at Applebee's in 1994 with some friends... have liked it really well ever since. I usually don't like draft beers, but this one is really good from draft.

Mass produced and made to look like a micro-brew but all in all not a bad little beer. Nothing special of course but better than a bud.

This beer is ideal for a vampire, who can't locate a live body. This stuff is bad! Run from the bar if it's your only option!

Why is this beer popular? I think regular Coors is better than this, and that's not saying a whole lot.

I gave Coors a '4' and this is the same stuff with some red dye in it.
