General Snus

I like this snus a whole lot. Opened up a whole new world for me in tobacco enjoyment. Kind of peppery and lemony in flavor. Makes giving up cigarettes a pleasure. Your lungs will thanks you.

This is the fourth Snus I've tried. First was Camel Frost > Camel Mellow> Nordic Ice Wild Cherry> and then The General. The reason that the majority of people in Sweden use it is because the producer (Swedish Match) had a 90% market share monopoly as one of the initial producers of Snus (not necessarily because it's great). While it did take a little getting used to I found the portions to be much more juicy, and enjoyable over the loose (which is actually a clay-like consistency and bakes much better than other Snus'). Upon popping the first portion into my lip, I was taken aback by the rich earthy and tobaccoey flavors that were so uncharacteristic of the Camel Snus I was used to. Salty, maybe a hint of pepper and a slightly tart but not overpowering citrus-iness (I guess it's called Bergamot). This is my snus of choice, I go for the white portions which give a nice tobacco taste that isn't too offensive. For people looking to get into snus I would highly recommend General or Ettan to start with.

General Original Portion snus: General has a unique taste and consistency that makes it the best selling snus in Scandinavia. There is a pleasant and strong tobacco flavor with a twist of lime that is absolutely enjoyable. The nicotine kick is strong and lasts for up to an hour, due to the high pH level. General Snus is to be enjoyed like a fine wine; smell it, taste it, and enjoy the tobacco pleasure. Like I said, there's a reason why General is preferred by 90% of Scandinavians! General Ekstra Sterk Portion snus: This has the classic taste of General with about twice the nicotine of regular General snus! The flavor has a more predominant flavor and aroma of strong tobacco due to the raised nicotine content. However, this snus is great for those that want to quit smoking. As well, its a good way to save money to cut the cost of using snus (Ekstra Sterk costs the same, but has twice the amount of nicotine).

I've dabbled with snus for awhile now after discovering it while searching for some cheap american snuff online. I'm glad I found it. I've just decided to start using the swedish snus instead of american snuff. I ordered a few cans of this General snus about a year ago or so and it, honestly, took awhile for it to grow on me. Once I got used to it, I loved it. I tried the original portion, which is the equivelant to a skoal or copenhagan pouch, and it's my favorite. Wasn't big on the loose stuff. Very fine and almost like dirt. General is the best I've found so far. Very distinct flavor, but good. It almost has a hint of a copenhagen type scent to it, but is very, very different in just about every way.
