Thu Jun 10 2004The best division/corp/army commander that the Waffen SS had, much better then the over rated Oberstgruppenführer Dietrich and better then the under rated Brigadeführer Otto Kumm, Brigadeführer Kurt Meyer and Obergruppenführer Felix Steiner. Hausser commander the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich during Barbarossa and commanded them well. Oberstgruppenführer Hausser's greatest accomplishment was probable being a subordinate commander to Manstein in his evacuation and recapture of Kharkov. Also, as commander of the II-SS Panzerkorps at Kursk, he showed his talent as the II SS-Panzerkorps came extremely close to breaching the Soviet defenses around Kursk. He was in charge of one of the most powerful Korps the German Army after produced before/during Kursk with LSSAH, Das Reich and Totenkopf and even after Kursk, the II SS-Panzerkorps comprised of Das Reich, Totenkopf, Hohenstaufen and Frundsberg.
