"I know nothing about cars." 2308: The number of GM dealership owners who committed suicide after hearing that comment. 316121: The number of Toyota employees who pissed themselves laughing. ~300,000,000: The number of American citizens wondering why they weren't hired to run GM. "Change in America doesn't start from the top down. It starts from the bottom up." Looks like whoever is currently cleaning the toilets at GM has a shitload (pun intended) of work ahead of him/her. Wonder if you can fit a urinal in a subcompact? Let's see. A President who knows nothing about leading a country. A Vice President who knows nothing about everything. A Speaker of the House of Representatives who knows nothing at all. A Treasury Secretary who knows nothing about taxes. A CIA Director who knows nothing about intelligence operations. "It's about time, it's about change, about strange people in the strangest place." You couldn't script this shit. Every screen writer in Hollywood is whacki... Read more

Definately improving.  The new Malibu is beautiful and a quality vehicle.  If GM keeps moving in this positive direction, they will survive and prosper.

Inferior to Toyota and Honda in parts, quality, workmanship, resale value and reliability and has been for some time. They can't continue to pay huge wages and benefits and have their workers sit and do crossword puzzles. It is time for the CEO's to take some big cuts, especially while they are in the red.You never drive along the interstate and say, "Wow look at that poor guy stranded in his 5 year old Honda, he should have known better to buy that junk."

I know they're in trouble, but I don't know enough about their business to say exactly why.In recent years, Buicks have proved to be more reliable than their  imported competition, so we know Americans can build excellent cars when they put their minds to it.

Still using too many cheap parts. Cars are too full of plastic relative to costs. Chevy trucks ride nice but lack serious towing capabilities in 1/2 ton models relative to other brands.

Used to be decent, not so lately. Inherent design problems (bad gaskets, leaks etc). Once out of warranty, you're on your own, and you get to pay for repairs due to poor quality. Check the depreciation figures. Delphi problems, bancruptcy rumours, Nissan deal dissolves, Kerkorian sells shares. Research it folks, the information is there for you to find.

Everyone in my family has owned GM vehicles as long as I can remember. I have always been completely satisfied with them and their service.

GM has competed and continues to attempt to compete with the Japanese car comapnies, but can't due to the fact they have to pay former employees' pensions.

GM is in deep trouble. They can't seem to get past the superior Japanese technology to create better cars. They are regressing and it is sad to see this one time giant dying.
