I've been a patient of Dr. Bret Gargasz since he opened in Tampa. I've needed lots of work done, as my teeth have always been considered "soft", or easily prone to cavities, since i was a child. I've also endured traumatic damage to my teeth due to domestic violence issues. Dr. Gargasz has been a "God send". I have been nervous about going to the dentist, UNTIL i met Dr. Gargasz... He instantly put me at ease when i met him. He looks me in the eye, he has a genuine smile and an obvious desire to be the best he can be. He is patient with me, has a beautiful office in a prime location, and I have never had a less-than-pleasant time when i go to see him. The tender care he has given and the patience and willingness to listen, and help me overcome my shame of having "unsightly" problems with my teeth due to the domestic violence issues i've been through, have compelled me to recommend more than 20 patients to his office. I'm convinced, there is not a kinder professional than Dr. Bret Garg... Read more

Dr. Gargasz and his staff were very helpful in fitting me in last minute for a zoom treatment so that I could have a beautiful white smile for my wedding day! Not only were they able to fit me in, but also were very kind in professional through out the whole process. I would definitely recommend him to friends.

Dr. Bret Gargasz, is a great dentist that has displayed honesty, integrity and professionalism every time I have visited his office for an appointment. His services are prompt and accurate. Dr. Gargasz has made a usually dreadful experience to the Dentist an enjoyable experience for me. I highly recommend Dr. Bret Gargasz to anyone who is looking for a Dentist.

I went to the Riverview office because it was close to my house and they were open until 7pm. I didn't see Dr. Gargaz but I did see Dr. Trimble. I had three crowns that needed to be replaced. The first appointment for the first crown was one of the most traumatic dental experiences I've ever had. Halfway through drilling into my tooth a piece of the equipment fell DOWN MY THROAT! The doctor told me I better try and throw it up or I'd have to go to the hospital and he wouldn't be able to finish my crown. He seemed annoyed that I had swallowed it, like it was my fault! The first time I went back to get the perm crown put on 3 weeks later, they told me they had messed up and it wasn't fitting and so they'd have to redo it. I came back 3 weeks later for the second time and I saw a different dentist who told me that he still couldn't put the crown on because my tooth had been drilled down too much and they would need to build it up. They worked on one of my other teeth to crown and... Read more

This has been a nightmare. My husband and I first visited this guy because he had Saturday hours, and no one else does. He muttered and was rude when examining us, but we put up with it. He declared I had 8 cavities and needed a crown. He also offered me a "two for one" deal on teeth whitening if my husband and I got it done that day. That really should have tipped me off. I made my first follow-up appointment to start getting the work done. My husband had a follow-up for one cavity. When we were seen, it was another dentist, who asked us both "what he was doing that day"? I advised him to consult my care plan, as did my husband. He filled three cavities for me, but he told my husband he didn't have a cavity. But he replaced a filling that that we later found didn't need replacement anyway. My fillings remained sensitive until my next appointment, three weeks later. This time I got Gargasz again. The woman prepping me informed me that I now had a total of 13 cavities and needed three ... Read more

first lets start with the fact that dr gargasz is an unprofessional quack. He will tell you you need work when you dont. second his office is a dump.they have roaches.he goes through assistants and front office people like crazy so no on knows what is going on and your account is always messed up. I had the unfortunate experience of going to this quack. it has cost me thousands of dollars and we are still trying to get my teeth fixed. he is an angry man who should not be practicing. stay away from him. the pain he caused is unbelievable and he doesn't care if he does things wrong. he has an answer for everything. 3 other dentists have rendered opinions and he sits back and does nothing. I think his career will soon be over once the Florida Board of Dentistry gets on this case.

This man was the most unprofessional, arrogant, condescending moron I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. He was totally unprofessional and was only interested in hearing the sound of his own voice. He refused to answer questions or address the issue which actually brought me to his office in the first place. He indicated when reviewing my x-rays that I had damage to teeth I did not even have and fillings that were damaged when I have no fillings. When brought to his attention he advised me, "Well there are tooth coloured fillings you know". As if I have never heard of them and that they were somehow implanted in my mouth without my knowledge! I was not sure if I should bust out laughing or bill him for the time I wasted in his office. Spare yourself the nightmare of patronizing this buffoon, unless of course you bring a hidden camera for the Jack@ss crew.

I went to Dr. Bret Gargesz because his Riverview office is only a block away from my house, he took my insurance and I had fell and chipped my tooth in the shower. My front tooth needed fast immediate attention so I did not have much time to research a dentist. I went to get an estimate and I was then told that I would need a crown(Cap) I then explained that I would like to get the front four of my teeth capped for cosmetic as I had spaced out teeth and always wanted that beautiful smile, Dr. Gargasz talked me into getting my top front six teeth capped, I am 22 and did not know much about Dental work(My fault maybe) but he never mentioned that because my teeth were not in bad shape or anything that I could have gone with Veneers(Much less painful and cheaper) instead he used his way of talking people into to things to get me to call my grandma and convince her to loan me the money($5,326.00). I told him I would like to do two now and some more later when I had the money, he then told m... Read more

. All of this was done November 2008, it is now February 2009 and I need a root canal on all six of my capped teeth, I have been on vicoden for three weeks because of the pain. Back tracking, when I told him I wanted to just have all of my front teeth done he said, in these exact words, "Next you can go see my brother down the street for some plastic surgery" What kind of a professional recommends plastic surgery to a 22 year old. I am 5'3" 130 and am in no need of plastic surgery, he is a horrible disgusting dentist, very rude, does not care if you are in pain, or on time, or if you are happy with the work, he recommends the most expensive procedures without letting you know there are cheaper less painful ways. I also brought my daughter there to get a filling, she was crying, and he told her to "stop acting like a baby, I know this doesn't hurt you" she is six years old and he was treating her horribly. He said "If you can't stop crying you can get up and leave, your scaring my custo... Read more

My husband and I switched to this dentist when we picked up a new dental plan. Initially, we were getting only cleanings but Dr Gargasz has a salesman's mentality and has his staff call every couple of months to pester you to begin your "treatment plan" which is essentially to replace every piece of dental work ever done in your mouth. Recently, I went in for my regular cleaning and he started pestering me about starting my "treatment." In a moment of weakness, I consented to have him do "whatever was the most pressing." I don't know the numbers of my teeth and only realized when I got home that he had chosen as "most pressing," a crown that was less than 5 years old even though I have some old fillings that are probably 20 years old that I had expected him to select! But a crown is much more expensive! During the procedure, the pain was excruciating. Tears were streaming down my face, clearly annoying him. It felt like electricity was going through my tooth. He told me that I was b... Read more

After reviewing the previous reviews, I'd like to add mine. I have been a client of Tampa Downtown Dentist for over 3 years. The wait time is minimal. The front desk staff has always been helpful. The hygenists are professional. Dr. Bret Gargasz is professional and always pleasant. Metered street parking is a disadvantage - Big Time. I have recommended this dentist office.

I agree with the reviews above. DO NOT use this dentist. The staff is terrible, billing is a complete joke (they somehow got hold of insurance I had over 5 years ago, even after I gave them my current insurance card) and I have been plagued with billing problems. I paid in full for a crown I had done recently, and now there's a mystery $125 charge that I'm being hounded about. Dr. Gargasz will get mad at you if you flinch from pain, he'll openly get mad at his staff right in front of you while you're in the chair, and they'll cancel appointments on you. Of course, if you cancel on them, there MAY be a fee... Again, avoid Downtown Dentist (Bret Gargasz) at all cost. What an awful practice.

Terrible experience. Staff has no attention to detail - could not get my name right (even with me standing there and spelling it repeatedly, and it's not a hard name) and gave me a referral for the wrong problem. I wouldn't trust them not to work on the wrong tooth! Dr. Gargasz recommended lots of work, but I don't trust that either and won't be going back. The office also has no parking.
