No longer have that musky smell of dampness in my basement. Ran on continuous for a few days as recommended and results are fabulous. Not heavy to move to a different room if needed Very satisfied with price and quality..

I want to make this review short and sweet. I've had to buy lots of dehumidifiers over the past ten years. Most make too much noise, put out too much heat, or break too soon. This dehumidifier is without a doubt the best one I have ever owned. One of the reviewers commented that it's hard to get the tank out of the unit to dump the water. The tank is a little snug, but you won't have trouble removing it. This product is so well made that the snug fit must be on purpose, i.e., it cuts down on vibrations and the noise you'd otherwise hear.

I wasn't happy enough with the smell of mildew in the basement. It wasn't until I actually saw it growing in a couple of spots. That was finally enough motivation for me. I bought this unit because it had high ratings. I've been very pleased. I don't have a good spot to hook a hose up to it, so I choose to empty the bucket daily instead. I can make it 2 days before it's full. I did have to empty it daily when I first got it. I had no idea my problem was that bad. It draws air in from the front and blows it out the side, very nice for placing it up against a wall. It's a bit noisy but no too bad. I haven't seen or smelled anymore mildew since I've had this guy up and running.

My unit is the FDL50S1. Other than cosmetic changes, the specs appear to be identical to this one. However, there may be engineering differences between the two models. I had to purchase my unit in a hurry, and I got it from the blue "big box" home supply store. Hopefully this model has a more forgiving humidity sensor than the one I got! My model works, rapidly bringing the humidity level in my basement down to very comfortable levels. However once there, it started cycling on and off very rapidly. It would run for ten seconds and shut off. It would then start back up again 30 seconds later and run for about two minutes before stopping again. About two minutes later, it start the same pattern over again. This almost constant on/off pattern was really irritating, and it could not be good for the compressor or the power relays in the dehumidifier. I emailed Frigidaire, and my response was a bland "...a dehumidifier could cycle about every 3 to 4 minutes on then 3 to 4 minutes off... Read more

I purchased the 70 pint model even though the reviews I saw said it was noisier. I am using it in the finished part of the basement and after two days the mustiness is gone. I am delighted in the unit's operation. I find the noise not objectionable. There is just the rush of air, no rattles of the evaporator coils, or compressor hum like on my old Kenmore unit with its metal case. Changing the Frigidaire's bucket is no big deal and I have had no problem in removing the bucket that is noted in other reviews. I like the tank full indicator light as well as the red float visible on the front so you can see where you are fill-wise. The digital readout on the humidistat is far better than a knob with no numerical markings. I am so pleased with the unit that I am buying a second 50 unit for use in the unfinshed part of my basement. This one will be hooked up the a drain. I have have Kenmore and DeLonghi units in the past. The Kenmore was pretty durable. The Delonghi was more e... Read more
