Mother's Day Brunch was a big disappointment. The menu on the website looked very fair for $18.95/pp. Luckily we had reservations - the place was packed with people. Every time that I went to go get some salad it was empty. The servers were rude when they were asked if the salad was going to be refilled. There was at least a 15 minute delay when replenishing the prime rib, horseradish sauce and steamed veggies. There were actually empty containers for at least 15 minutes. When the steamed broccoli/carrots were finally replenished, they were almost raw. They were out of dessert before 2 pm. even though the brunch was supposed to last until 3. They severely underestimated the number of people and/or the amount of food that was necessary.

My girlfriend and I went there Feb 19th around 8pm and there was no wait and few diners in the place. The atmosphere was nice. I did notice most dishes were in the 19 dollar range, with steaks being closer to $25 to $30. I ordered the Tuna steak and grilled shrimp and she ordered the grilled shrimp salad. When the tuna arrived I took a bite and it was extremely fishy tasting and smelling. I had my lady try it and she confirmed it was bad. I sent it back with the waiter and he came back from the kitchen and confirmed both he and the cook thought it was so bad they threw all the remainder tuna steaks out. I was asked to pick something else. I got the pecan crusted Talapia. The Talapia was okay, the crawfish sauce on it was good, but there was hardly any on the fish. The grilled shrimp had no flavor, smoked, or otherwise. It was like they put shrimp in a pan and cooked it. I was very disappointed in the food and would not go back at half the price. I would have to say the best part of ... Read more

The steak was good-cooked perfectly, but honestly could get a better steak at saltgrass for half the price. The atmosphere was romantic, the service was great. My Husband & I split the oysters on the half shell (Perfecto) and the surf & Turf-not worth $45. We Both split an app & entree, and the ticket still came out to $70 + tip! The only reason we would go back is if they're having an amazing special. Freda-Great restaurant, Steep Prices.

Hands down the best Paella I've ever had. Perfect level of heat, impossible to take a bite without at least two different meats, the risotto was exactly right. The chicken was juicy and tender - hard to maintain in a mixed dish like this. The sausage was excellent. ...The squid was just right - not tough or chewy, also hard to do in mixed dish. The shrimp was simply awesome. I am completely blown away.

I went in on a Sunday evening and ordered take-out there. No one greeted me when I came in. There was no one behind the bar. They shorted me an item and took a ridculously long time to get it. No one cared that there were more patrons coming in and ignored them, too. Everyone I interacted with was completely unfriendly and could care less about providing good service. One of the worst experiences I've encountered with a restaurant.

This is a very nice restaurant. It is kid friendly even though citysearch says it isn't. They had a kids menu and crayons. I could also see this being a great place to go on a date. We loved the list of appitizers so much that we ordered about 5 of just the appetizers and made meals out of it all. The seafood stuffed mushrooms were GREAT! I would order them again in a heartbeat! I would request more sauce though. They skimped on the crab cakes. They tasted great, but you only got 2 thin crab cakes for $9! The fried calamari was bland, but the dipping sauce made this dish absolutely fantastic. The bacon wrapped sea scallops were just ok. The oysters rockefeller was GREAT! I do wish it had more than an itty bitty piece of bacon on each one, but it was certainly worth ordering again. The bread pudding really was great as well, we would order that again. It was my birthday so I got a free Creme Brulee. It was pretty good, just a little too much egg taste for me. Some people were complain... Read more

I go to freda's every Wednesday and Friday lunch, their lunch special is amazing. $6.95 for fried catfish and coconut shrimp, or pecan tilapia with rice and veges. I love it. service is excellent there.

This is my second time visiting Freda Seafood Grille. I was surprised to hear that Fredas was a non corporate restaurant because of its size and decor. I ordered the Cajun ribeye even though it was a seafood restaurant, and it was delicious. My wife had the mahi with mango salsa, and she loved it. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food, but the wine, she was a bit of a novice. When we went to visit Fredas, it had live jazz music, which complimented well with the full bar scene. With Freda's eclectic atmosphere and great food, it makes an excellent place to dine.

I just moved from CA to cedar park. was told by friends that freda's is a good place to go. i am not a fish person. but my fiend brought me over anyway. the restaurant looks really nice inside. marble table with beautiful lighting. there's a pianist playing at the corner the bar, really lovely. our waitress mentioned to us that she is kind of new, but she did a very good job, has a good knowledge about the food and wine, very professional and polite. my friend got the sea-bass, I got the ribeye since I don't care for fish. man the steak is fantastic, I was surprised to find that a seafood restaurant can serve this kind of steak. perfect temp, perfect seasoning and perfect marbling. my friend finished the whole plate clean, this is the first time I ever see her finish the whole meal. the waitress suggested us bread pudding. a best dessert I ever had! definitely it is a wonderful experience. romantic atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service!!! will come back for sure

Run by people with zero restaurant experience (presumably not even as patrons). I went to Freda?s last October with my sister-in-laws family and parents-in-law. We have gone there 6-7 times for brunch and have had mediocre experiences at best. In fact, we keep swearing that we won't go back but it is very conveniently located. Well, that last visit was definitely the last! It turns out Freda?s had changed what they were serving on the buffet to save money (with no corresponding reduction in price) and no one seemed to know what was available and what wasn't. Specifically they took sausage off the brunch buffet. I thought it was an oversight, or they were momentarily out, and when I asked the fellow carving the meat didn't have an answer for me. We had to get a manager after 15 minutes of waiting for it to be brought out, only to be told it was no longer a part of brunch and that we would have to be satisfied with bacon. To make matters worse, I couldn't get my alternative choice e... Read more

I have visited this restaurant on several occasions and I have yet to get a pleasureable experience. The food is fantastic and the place is just beautiful, but how good can all that be if the waitstaff, hostess and manager are just NOT customer friendly. This is esstial for a good company/restaurant, it is in serious need of a rehaul, new management, something, I will probably not return until I see some changes from other peoples' ratings and experience.

The menu is inviting. The patio, with live music is an attraction. The bar area is nice. But UNFORTUNATLY Freda's FAILS. Cedar Park needs a trendy and inviting place and Freda's is sooo close. Freda's could be a popular resturant...BUT! The Waitstaff isn't over worked....THEY just don't know you're there....it takes ages in the hugh EMPTY resturant for the wait staff to even notice you......once they do....you probably wont get your salad first(our waiter actually tried to take away our entrees once we pointed out his mistake). Our drink orders were simple but didn't arrive until the end of our meal(we placed them before we ordered a salad) and it still wasn't right(there were only two of us). Overall, the resturant was empty, the waitstaff was poor, the food was average and we wanted SOOOOOO bad to be able to recommend this place to our friends....but....we can't. It's just a "Denny's" of Sea Food. Higher prices, worse service. Sorry Fredas, as a small business owner, I had hoped to p... Read more

I dined at Fredas on more than one occasion and have had great and lousy service. As with any restaurant I've been to, this one as its mood swings. The food is always great and service has been good to superior, the only downfall is their lack of communication. If an item is out, the server should inform the guest BEFORE ordering. If a wine is out of stock and has been for several months, take it off the wine list! Overall, the restaurant is worthwhile, the owner is there almost 24/7 and she really cares about her customers. If you ever go in, ask for Freda and ask her what she desires out of her restaurant. I bet you that she gives you more than the standard reply of money.

I went with a group of friends to dinner yesterday here. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and pecan crusted trout to share with my boyfriend. We told them to just bring out all the food at once. After waiting for our food for 30 minutes, the waiter brought out the food 1 plate at a time and 2 minutes between each plate. My quesadillas, not to mention, it is an appetizer came out 5 minutes after everybody else's food. No word for the waiter the entire time. The waiter did not check with us at all regarding the food. He did not bring out the mango salsa that was supposed to be the highlight of the shrimp dish. The quesadillas were greasy and cannot even compare to a fast mexican food chain. The shrimp was below average. Service was horrible. I will never go back again.

We went for dinner on a Thursday night and the restaurant was not busy, but the service was terrible. Waiter forgot the salads, forgot a side order, and forgot to comp our gift certificate when we were ready to pay the bill. The coconut shrimp and fried catfish and french fries were good, but wouldn't have been worth it without the gift certificate. Maybe go for drinks and live jazz music in the bar, skip the restaurant.

In the last month or so, the place has really gone downhill! I use to go alot. Sometimes I would just hang out at the bar if I was not go eat. I have noticed alot of turn over recently which can indicate poor management. But you can always find a table, it is never busy!

been there when they first open, back to Aug 2003, not good experience. Last week I decided to give them another try. Unbelievable! a whole new, wonderful experience. Food excellent, service great. I ordered the blackened snapper with crawfish. The most amazing dish I ever had. My father loved the steak there. for sure I will go back to Freda's, the server told me about lunch special $6.95, sounds great.

Freda's is a wonderful place to dine. Our first experience was when they first opened and we went there for our anniversary. The waitstaff were attentive and gave great suggestions on wine/food pairings. Even the bartender suggested wines as we were leaving. The food..... superb. A good fusion of flavors without being overpowering. The atmosphere is comfortable and the prices not unreasonable. They have great lunch specials that will satisfy everyone -- even vegetarians. Their happy hour fills up fast. We've been there many times thereafter. Good place to bring business partners -- very relaxing. Favorites; cajun chicken fried chicken, pecan-crusted tilapia, mixed seafood grille, crab cakes, seafood stuffed mushrooms, salmon,....... Dress as you like, from casual shorts to suit/tie. Just a great place all around.

We first heard about this place from a flyer in a church bulletin. I didn't think much about it, but I noticed they had daily lunch specials for $6.95. Since my mother and I were in the area, I thought "Why not?" It was right before lunch hour and the place was empty--service was great! And the food...oh my gosh...you can't get a better deal for $6.95. You get HUGE portions of delicious food! And I have to say that this place is really beautiful. A little upscale, but you could come in wearing shorts. My kind of place. They have great Happy Hour specials, too!

Our food was great. The soup left something to be desired, but the Mahi Mahi was out-of-this-world good, as was my wife's seafood platter. The service was the best I have received at a restaurant for a while. It was obvious that a couple of the poeple working were either managers, owners, or stakeholders of some sort. The wait-staff was great. We had three people serving us, and all were in great spirits and funny! All in all, this is going to be our seafood restaurant of choice now on.

The Scene The front patio is a lovely place to dine alfresco. The large interior has a bar, complete with large TVs, granite tables, booths and an attractive wine cabinet. A multitude of windows complement the stained concrete floors, while hanging red and blue light fixtures contribute flashes of color. The Food Start with crab cakes: The flaky crab meat and vegetable filling is rich, while the peppery sweet corn relish adds depth; the fried onion topping is a welcome texture contrast. The seafood-stuffed mushrooms, marinated in red wine, stuffed with tasty seafood and baked with fresh bread crumbs, are delicious. Seafood gumbo cups are hearty and addictive, boasting well-seasoned andouille sausage, chicken, okra, saffron rice and fish, including baby prawns. Mixed seafood grill contains moist mahi mahi and swordfish skewers, the accompanying sweet, pineapple-vegetable dirty rice has chicken broth essence. Surf and turf satisfies with soft, honey and pepper-marinated New York stri... Read more

What a shame, this is a pretty nice place that doesen't know how to run a restaurant. After giving it two tries, I've had it. terrible un-trained waitstaff, un-trained hostess', lousy bartenders, etc, etc, etc. I will never patronize Freida's again.
