Soft Rock?  Please.  The closest he ever came to rock was when he poured bourbon over them.

Someone, please, tell me how is The Voice categorized so stupidly? He's neither soft nor rock. He's not bloody Phil Collins, for crying out loud. He practiced something called restraint for his melancholy songs, but was known to throw his voice into the rafters more than once. And not just a singer, but an entertainer, and an actor--talented, at that--as well. Bah humbug!

Most in command performer who could stand alone on a stage without dancing or jumping through hoops to entertain. Vocal god who is in my estimation the only vocalist who has ever gotten "it" when they sing. Its not about flash it's about feeling and words and how to convey them. When Sinatra sings I believe.

I'm not too sure Frank would like being described as "soft rock"Iconic figure, great voice (particularly when he was younger)Loses a star for his stuff being covered by every wannabee lounge lizard and karaoke whore...

As a singer? A good voice. But the music, my God, I hate it. I really do. The worst, most self-important, bombastic tripe ever aped by beersodden middleaged men at Karaoke evenings at the Sports Bar. Overplayed, overhyped and a definite deterrent to eating at the Olive Garden.

forgetting his rather unpleasant personality for the mo' and just focusing on him as a performer, i still dont get all the fuss. it's not that he had a bad voice. he even had a distinctive one, but i haven't hear anything he's done that makes him better than any others of his ilk e.g. Tony Bennett.

Look, it's hard to deny that, in a lot of ways, Frank was a miserable human being. Spoiled, arrogant, childish, irascible, egocentric...the list can go on and on. Anyone who knows anything about music, however, will tell you that he had a peerless voice and a style of phrasing that no one has been able to match. I hardly qualify as a fan, but the truth is the truth. Frank was one of the greatest, most influential, singers that America has ever produced.

Frank Sinatra captured and held at bay audiences as putty in his hands through decades. I'm sorely dispointed that he has such a poor rating here. Never before and never will there ever be a again a better team then Nelson Riddle and Frank Sinatra period. The two simply made magic that you you can only imagine in heavean and they delivered it here on earth. I highly suggest for all the critics to go beyond New York, New York and My Way and find the true man. The true genius that defined what music is and still to this day influences even the greatest bands.

My favorite entertainer of all-time. Not the nicest guy in the free world and was crass. Unbelievable voice who is the greatest at phrasing words in song. Very good to great actor who didn't take many acting lessons. A unique talent. I will admit, the admiration from fans and critics can be a little much.

Musically i'd give him a 2(he was extremely overrated). As a person he was scum. So overall definitely not king of the hill and right at the bottom of the heap.

OMG, This is a pure example of overhyped garbage. He was a horsesh*t singer! Did anyone ever give this clueless man choral lessons? His voice is as pleasant as the sound of a .38 caliber going through glass and hitting someone in the a$$. I cannot fathom how much I loathe Mr. Sinatra's voice. Sure, He may have had nice eyes, but that doesn't amount talent to sh*t. He could not sing. In that song (I think it's called Scarlet Pillows) He sounds like a gibbering constipated old man while being scratched in the privates by a bengali mach bagral.

I have liked Frank Sinatra for years. He has a good voice and his own style of singing. I like the fact that when he sings I can understand every word he says. I noticed that he enunciates every word he sings. I like some of his songs better than others. Like Love and Marriage, high hopes,Something Stupid{ with his daughter Nancy}. We have several of his CDs. the tow duet CDs he recorded are pretty good too.He held his own for years and recored music into his 70s. Not many singers can say that.

The Chairman Of The Board. Old Blue Eyes. Still as revered today as ever. Deserves to be on this list due to his influence on many rockers as well his collaborations with them. However, being fair, since I gave Dino a 1, I can't give Francis Albert too high a grade.

I haven't listened to Frankie much in my lifetime. But I don't see any reason to rate him less than okay. I have a couple of old Tommy Dorsey recordings from the early 40s that feature him as the lead singer and they're pretty good. He's fine as far as crooners go.

Sinatra's style and music defined the "hip" and sophisticated golden era of big band/orchestra/pop. His recordings from the late '40's thru the end were superb, as were the arrangers and composers who supplied the music. He always used the finest musicians available, both in the studio and on the Road. Every Jazz Musician I know considered it an honor to play his gig. And they had fun because of the high level of music being performed. He was the Man. I'm glad that there are many new singers "keeping the flame" of Franks' music and style.

Sinatra was a giant! He could sing, dance, and act. He was perhaps not as revolutionary to the art of singing as Bing Crosby, but he took it to the next level. Crosby established intimacy between the singer and the listener; Sinatra seemed to bare his soul. That is why his albums made for Capitol Records in the 50's are his greatest. Not only was he working with people of the calibur of Nelson Riddle and Billy May in creating a new dynamic between singer and orchestra, not only was he creating with them the concept of the theme album, but he had just come through difficult times professionally and personally. It is in encountering these difficulties and in surmounting these obstacles that his music was born. Sinatra did something very difficult to do; he took the words and music of others and used them to reveal his sorrow, his pain, or his elation. In the process of doing this the words and music no longer come from outside of him. They become his words, his music. And what ... Read more

He has some excellent music. "Summer Winds" and "Fly Me to the Moon" are classics. However, listen to Glenn Close's version of "Send in the Clowns" (from the Sondheim celebration at Carnegie Hall) and then listen to Frank's rendition, and don't tell me that Sinatra didn't quite find the beauty of the song. Sorry, but his style doesn't work for everything. I don't always understand what the big deal is about the greatness of his voice, sometimes. It's gravelly and classic, but sometimes it just sounds stuffy and overdone. I surely do respect Mr. Sinatra, however.

Growing up in the mid 60's the only music played in our house was Frank Sinatra. Usually I didn't pay much attention, but would listen because I could understand the words. As my relationship grew stronger with my father in my late teens, I really began to apreciate the special talents of Old Blue Eye's. My father passed away when I was 20 years old, and to this day I listen, indulge, and can't get enough of this truly remarkable entertainer of the twentieth century. I only hope my children will at least give this music and entertainment a chance, because it will be with this earth until is over and gone with.

Okay so I know I'm probably gonna get in trouble for asking this but.....WHAT is the big deal?? I always thought he could act better than he could sing..regardless, the man had a stage presence. So I'll give him three stars for effort and a big thumbs DOWN for vocal talent.

What can I say about Sinatra, that hasn't already been said? He's one in a trillion and no one, and I mean no one will ever be able to capture the chemistry he had with the fans, the media, the music, and the silver screen. His talent wasn't just in his voice, but in the way he carried himself, and all that charm! Some choose not to see it, I can respect your choice.... but don't ever try and change my mind because it's been made up since I was ten years old and I watched "On The Town". If you want to watch a charming movie, go rent this or buy it!
