The leftos had taken over Spain and were tearing it apart. Although he was not the leader of the revolt, Franco was one of the leaders. Due to fortune and ability, he rose to the top.He was smart enough to keep Spain out of World War II. He was not the most brilliant warrior or politician, but in face of universal world opposition, lead by leftist propagandaists, he kept Spain independent. Franco was Spain's strongest 20th Century leader, his impact is still felt today. He was a conservative and a nationalist general who helped precipitate the Spanish civil war in 1936 after the Popular Front, a coalition of moderate Socialists, came to power. During this socialist government, Franco was sent to the Canary Islands as a military governor; this was seen as a demotion for him. The landed aristocracy in Spain felt threatened by the left wing governments re-distributionist policies, so they openly rebelled against the government, which was popularly elected. Francisco Franco is a great man, and will always be. He united Spain as it should be united, he ended the civil war, and only the most honorable and true warroior wins. He kept his country out of WW2, and he helped Spain's economy greatly. Those democratic retards say he censors things and there's not alot of freedom, well you should have fought him during the civil war or start an uprising(just like he did in 1936) rather than be such a lowly coward and only speak your opinions after his glorious death.

One of the biggest s-bags of the 20th century. How the world stood by and allowed this piece of crap to remain in power for so long speaks volumes about the so-called "Greatest Generation" and the mutants who came just before them.

Franco bombed Guernica, a town where over thousands of innocent civilians were killed. He had no sympathy for any of them. And the ones who were wounded were left to die.

He may have bombed Guernica, but who really cares? I mean, He had a reason to do it. He hated Spain.
