This filter is useless, made very cheaply. I used this 10 years ago when I was a little more inexperienced with filter brands, I would always have oil pressure problems after using the filter for awhile, I thought it was normal due to the filter getting old then my father told me about Fram vs. the other oil filters, still not believing him he then offered to prove it to me. So me and my father did a test, we used my 1983 Dodge Power ram with only 35,000 miles on it after the rebuild. I used the Fram filter and ran the truck around for about 500 miles (half highway half city) - the result is the oil was already a dark brown color. and this is brand new oil that was put in with the filter. -At 1000 miles the oil was already an almost black color. Didn't bother testing past 2000 mile mark with this filter. I then tried the same test on a Wix(NAPA) filter: At 500 mile the oil was still a golden color, a little darker than it was when it was new BUT not brown color and you can stil... Read more

I change the oil on our Ford Tauras's every 3,000 miles, and have used Fram filters for more than twenty years without any problem whatsoever. I particularly like the rubber end on the filter that enables you to screw it on hand tight, and unscrew it with ease for changing.

Garbage. Just garbage. Had such a hard time getting the filter off!!! Waste of money and a bad product. SuperTech is cheaper and better.

FRAM gets a lot of heat regarding the number of pleats it has inside. People need to realize that the number of pleats a filter has has nothing to do with how good of a filter it is. What that media is made of is what matters. Whatever filter has the better multi-pass filtration percentage is the filter that is going to be better performing. Also, everybody talks about the cardboard end caps. If somebody wants a good test to perform on a filter. Pull out the guts of a FRAM and a WIX filter. Now try and pull the end caps off of each filter. You will find it is much harder to separate the cardboard end cap from the filter media vs. pulling the metal from the filter media on a WIX filter.

I've used Fram a few times on various GM autos, and while usually it's fine and does the job acceptably during intervals, I have experienced oil pressure drops more than once when a Fram Tough Guard is installed. The final straw came when my Camaro dropped to 20 PSI oil pressure, and I finally just changed my oil and switched to PF47 ACDelco oil filter. It was upsetting because 1) the oil and filter had less than 500 miles on it and 2) I was worried about damage that may have occurred. My Camaro ran with normal Oil PSI (50-70) afterwards. I won't gamble a Fram ever again. Plus, for the same price you can get a much better designed and OEM ACDelco filter.

My dad always used Fram oil filters on his tractors. Then at a farm auction he bought a case of International Harvester oil filters. Now his oil stays much much cleaner and it last longer. He says Fram is crap.

This used to be a good filter, 20 years ago, but now is constructed of cheap materials and poor engineering. DO NOT USE!

Cut this filter apart and compare to a WIX or a Purolator and you'll never buy a Fram again! Do this then you can judge.

I've used Fram oil filters almost exclusively since I bought my car. It had 65,000 miles on it when I bought it, and it has about 125,000 miles on it now, and so far I haven't had any problems.  They're relatively inexpensive, and they're widely available.

The standard Fram has too many quality control issues. They make better filters but at a higher cost. Best filters are from Wix, Purolator, Bosch, and AC. The Mopar and Motorcraft seem to be fine also. The Walmart Tech filters have been o.k. but I always look to see what country it was manufactured in.

I would not use fram even tho they make alot of great products because the filter media inside has cardboard endcaps and cardboard does not belong inside an engine or oil if you dont belieave me cut one open, other than that these have small filtering surface and low micron rating, you are better off with getting a cheaper bosch oil filter.http://www.knizefamily.net/minimopar/oilfilters/ref erence.html  reviews of almost all oil filters

The only oil filter brand I use is fram. I change my oil every 3,000 miles and I have had no problem with fram. I tried the super tech oil filter brand and It worked fine, but it seemed really cheap and light -like a tin can. I would rather pay a couple extra cents to a dollar for a more sturdy oil filter.

I have heard nothing but bad things about Fram Filters since I ahve been researching them so I tend to steer clear of them.

I have never had a problem with Frams. However, I did take one apart and compare it to another brand. The Frams filter pleating was simply glued to a piece of cardboard instead of the metal endcap of the other filter. I would put a Fram in my car before some complete generic but will be using brands I consider to be less commercial from now on.

Honda's oil filters are made by Honeywell (FRAM), and I have not had any problems with them. I noticed that the silicone anti-drainback valve has been working properly after 5,000 miles where there was oil in the filter when I removed it during an oil change. I have installed a new FRAM Extended Guard XG7317 filter to see how well it works.

Tried 2 of them on my 01 Dodge Daokta.First one had a terrible cold start(noisy lifter sound for a couple of minutes) then held GOOD oil pressure from idle on up.Second one stopped the cold start problem BUT after warming up I would see a huge drop in pressure at idle,Changed filter to a wix,no cold start problems, no low pressure problems.LAST fram filter I'll buy

My husband usually changes the oil in all our vehicles and has always used Fram or Motorcraft. He always changes the oil every 3000 miles and we've never had a problem with either one of these oil filters. I recently bought a couple of Havoline filters and he's been skeptical about using them.. Would like to see more reviews on the Havoline oil filter before actually using them. Just to ease his mind.

I've used Fram Extraguard (the orange one) for the last few years for daily driving and it hasn't let me down yet and seems to do the job. But on further discovery from oil study sites i've heard nightmares about them and they don't seem to have enough filter paper and use paper ends instead of metal. But my experience so far has been good with it. If I were to go more than the 3,000m/5000km interval I would go with something else.
