Mon Aug 10 2009Seems like an ok town. There is one street, Las Olas Blvd which is a strip of nice restaurants and shopping that spans for about a mile. Downtown is pretty small although there are some more nightclubs sparatically placed down through the Riverwalk area. Off of that street, I found some canals and beautiful homes, with folks taking their yachts out for a late spin.

Wed Jun 24 2009I had a great time in Ft. Lauderdale on a girls vacation. The people I encountered were all super friendly. The area was pretty car reliant though so we had to do a rental. The beaches were a ton of fun, and there were a lot of bars right off A1A.

Sun Feb 03 2008The ''Venice of America" is the first "real american" city north of Miami. One could only see dredging and a beach around skyscrapers with lots of expensive hotels, tacky stores and pizza joints but you'll find some fine restaurants downtown and a pretty busy nightlife. Tons of scoundrels and golddiggers are here at work. #1 yachting spot in the US, a lot of private gated community residents take their boats to the Islands to register them to save on tax as much as humanly possible.

Wed Jun 20 2007If you ask me which is better, Miami-Dade or Broward County, I will defintely say Broward. Ft. Lauderdale is something that many people will laud about. I have heard that the property tax had increased in Miami, but Ft. Lauderdale's taxes did not increase much. It has a lot less mosquitoes and there are plenty of fun things to do in the amusement parks there. I would love to see it again.

Fri Feb 16 2007I really liked Ft Lauderdale. It's a nice city with a fun beach and a city atmosphere yet still pretty laid back compared to other big Florida cities especially Miami. Ft Lauderdale has a nice proximity to Miami too which is also something it has going for it. There's also many different things to do in this area as far as shopping, seeing shows, restaurants, bars and the like. My only complaint is that it really needs to improve its downtown area. The Las Olas riverfront is a very nice idea but for some reason it is not doing too well currently. Still worth a look.

Mon Jun 26 2006lol..the joke was that all the corrupt, greedy, bad doctors and lawyers from the Northeast would come down to practice. Ironcially, this was the first place that I ever saw lawyers advertising on television. Where I come from...if you are a good lawyer, you DONT NEED to advertise.

Mon Feb 28 2005I like Florida for the beaches and I'm not a big fan of any city there but if I had to choose then Fort Lauderdale would top the ranks for me. It's cleaner than Miami and Tampa and has an awesome inviting beach. Miami is still fun and very close by which is another reason Ft. Lauderdale has appeal. I liked the canals and gorgeous homes and impressive boats that line them. If I had to live in Florida I would choose this place hands down.

Sun Nov 28 2004I like Ft. Lauderdale. It feels much more like a Florida city than Miami. Ft. Lauderdale is a mid-sized city that is growing and offers the elements of a city without being too overwhelming. It's long past it's Spring Break reputation and is now a more well-rounded city with a good social life and with beaches that are easily accesible. It's a nice place to escape to during the winter without getting into all that is Miami. Miami is right down I-95 if you're interested. Ft. Lauderdale is also a cheaper airport hub to fly to and from. Check out Jet Blue if you're going there.

Fri Aug 27 2004This place is hell on earth and I want to get out!! Been living here for 4 year and can pretty much say its an ok place to visit put don't even think about staying. From the exnewyorkers (I'am one so I can judge) who are 100 times more hospitable back home to the native rednecks on down to the cubans, haitians s.america latino pop. everybody hates everybody. Lets not even talk about the weather.Chasing Palmetto bugs the size of your fist while they are flying overhead should qualify as an olympic sport down here. This place is the pits they should cut it off from the mainland and let it float off into oblivion.

Tue Jul 13 2004From the bitter old yorkers to the rabble-rousing rednecks from hell (though slowly dwindling), one seems to be constantly caught between a rock and a hard place in this city. But there are saving graces. Miraculously enough, if you look long and hard enough you will find an up-and coming art/indie scene with a handful of independently owned book/music stores and art fag joints dotting the highway near sunrise blvd, and the nearby culture room (on oakland park) is one of the chillest venues around for live and local bands next to Churchill's.. (did the pimp sneakers do a show there?). Many of the snobs, whom I'm sure either reside in sea ranch lakes or on the galt ocean mile, frequent the las olas shops and, in my opinion can become overwhelming with their mindless banter...but nothing's worse than elbowing your way through all the old people at the Sawgrass, I'd say walking on eggshells would be less of a challenge. Needless to say, there is somewhat of a pulse there, and it's ... Read more

Tue May 04 2004The most artificial, soulless city in Florida. Nothing but identical strip malls, apartment complexes and housing subdivisions that look exactly the same. It may just be me but there seems to be alot of creepy people here, I don't know. Of course the one thing it has going for it is the warm Florida weather, but the beaches are not that great, you can find better beaches anywhere else in Florida.

Sat Mar 13 2004Fort Lauderdale is overgrown and a desecration to whatever natural beauty Florida had before the New Yawkers started to take over. About the only thing that saves it is the climate.
