Went to the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival sponsred by the Food Network. This was the worst event I ever attended. With a name like "Guy Fieri's Cheesesteak Battle", I assumed 2 things: (1) It would be a "battle" like iron chef or chopped and (2) Guy Fieri would actually be there...like a host or MC. Neither of which were true. Event was outside in 90 degree heat, it was muggy and started raining. You had to wait in overcrowded lines for cheesesteaks and walk through grass which turned to mud. My wife and her heals didn't appreciate this at all. We paid $80 a ticket because we thought we were going to a 3 hr event/show, INDOORS, with FOOD NETWORK QUALITY CHEFS...NOPE. Cheesesteaks were from sub-par establishments and chain restaurants. Lee's Hoagies had the best steak and it was a 6 on a scale of 1-10 for anyone who has ever been to philly. We left after an hour and a half so maybe Guy eventually showed his face. I don't really care, it was an awful event that took advantage ... Read more

If I have to bear witness to one more cake episode...whether it's decorated cakes or cupcakes, I will need to make an appointment with my doctor to get an insulin prescription. What the hell is wrong, Bob Tushman? Are you so desperate for viewership? C'mon, you're driving foodies like me away. Life is more than just desert. More 'Good Eats' and 'Barefoot Contessa'. Oh, get rid of that bubble-headed, Cordon Bleu hack, Sandra Lee. If she really graduated from such a prestigious culinary school, she wouldn't be on TV 'assembling' meals and spending so much time on 'tablescapes'...she would actually be expressing the passion that a true chef would have by cooking real food...the chef doesn't care if you eat the food out of a trash can as long as it looks, tastes, and smells good. Shortcuts are not typical of a CB chef! While I'm on a tear here, tell Rachel Rae to take some time off and get her vocal cords repaired. There's nothing more annoying than listening to a half-hour of so... Read more

I LOVE watching Food Network and getting great recipe ideas. However, I limit the recipes I try in my own kitchen to those that are healthy and weight conscious. I don't feel recipes made by overweight cooks are options for people wanting to maintain a healthy diet and body weight. I stick to recipes from Robin Miller, Sandra Lee, and Giada. Tami

Overall, I like most of the shows. Barefoot Contessa and Triple D are the best, the Nealy's are pretty good too. Generally, I think the celebrity chef shows are better than the "cook-off" type shows. That said, the one celebrity chef show that is becoming very hard to watch is Giada. It has become all about her doing a "look how great I am" routine. I watch these shows for good recipes and cooking techniques, not someone who is doing a sing-songy mention of ingredients while showing off cleavage. I love the others because they are at least fairly realistic - as for Giada, I really can't recall the last time I was at someone's home for dinner and the guests were totally awestruck that the host had whipped the egg whites before adding them.

Down home with the neelys is the absolute WORST MOST HORRIBLE OBNOXIOUS SHOW on food network. That show physically makes my stomach turn. They should not be on tv, i stil am trying to figure out why they are..they get bad reviews and the restaurnats food sucks.

Food Network offers a lot of informative programming, as well, which are also entertaining, such as "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives", "Good Eats", "Unwrapped", and "Food Detectives", as well as the regular cooking programs with Rachael Ray and Sunny Anderson.

There needs to be more practical shows like Paula Deen, Alton Brown and the Neely's . They make real world type foods that women are interested in after work. Far Too much Iron Chef especially in the evening hours when you just want something practical to cook.

I love cooking shows, but Food Network is all about celebrity personality. I used to think Rachael Ray was the worst with her lame made-up words and neurotic tendency to laugh after everything she says, but I can actually sit through one of her shows and, yes, I have picked up a few quick-cooking tips (but rarely ever a whole recipe....she's too expensive). Now I would have to rate Paula Deen as the biggest FN loser. I recently saw her on Iron Chef (brief check-in) and she acted like a complete ass! And she was making chocolate truffles out of processed cheese--disgusting! Her sons are flat, brainless losers and I hate it when she brings her fat husband on her show to taste stuff--gross! Can't sit through one of her shows because she's so obnoxious. I love butter, and am a firm believer that fat is flavor, so it's not that her recipes are unhealthy...it's her dishes and mannerisms are just plain BAD. (FN had some commercial snippet of her flipping out at someone: "WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG... Read more

Bobby Flay sucks, my 5 year old cant understand why or how a man can be as pompous as to challenge some one making there living cooking a specific dish and says he can cook it better. Throdown is the show this pompous fool ruins there carrier for his own advancement. It would be different if they knew he was coming but no he practices there signature dish and then shows up unanounced, here in Texas we would call that chicken sh@# but I would guess hes a huge star up north. This guy is over the top and pretty much ruined food Network for my family. Alton Brown is GREAT in everything he does, if Flay wasn't so arrogant he could learn a few things from Brown. We LOVE ALTON BROWN, bobby flay is an ass!!!

I love the Food Network, but could do without all the sugar battles and such on prime time. I'd rather see the actual cooking shows. Favorites: Tyler Florence, Alton Brown, Iron Chef America, Rachael Ray, Michael Chiarello What happened to Jamie Oliver? Ming Tsai? I'd also love to see some of the PBS favorites here.

I watch this channel a lot. I like watchin' it while Im eatin' my moms cookin' cause my moms cookin' is better than the chefs. My dad says, "She missed up a perfectly good meal when she added that leaf. Who wants a leaf on a desert??" I agree with my old man, but there are some good cooks on the network. Emeril is my favorite. He does the leaf thingy too but a lot of his dishes look great!! However that Iron Chef show is a joke LOL. Those guys take the competion way too seriously and has anyone heard the host of the show?? Leeetts Beggiiinn!! I like, mayne its a food competion it aint a UFC fight or something. And the judges on that show are stuck up. I have never seen such awful food creations in my life. A lady contestant made some ice cream with sprinkled bacon bits. I was like WTF!?? The Food Network also describes the origins of different foods which is a good thing cause' I like knowin' where' foods come from.

Foodnetwork channel is great, it's the website that needs MAJOR improvement. It is slow to load (I have Comcast broadband) and the recipes often display "Page Not Found" like it does at this very moment. They really need to work on the reliability of the site.

I used to like this channel, but man has it gone down in the past couple of years. I notice that it's starting to gradually get more yuppified and effeminate. A lot of the chefs that are getting shows now seem to be either connected or devoid of a likeable personality. The only ones I like are Rachel Ray, Alton Brown and the guy from "Secret Life of..." The guy on "Ham on the Street" is totally pathetic. Alton, I had said I didn't like, but he really is a good, smart cook. The old Food Network was like whole milk and the new one is like SKIM. The worst hosts are Giada de Laurentiis, George Durhan and Mario Batali. Iron Chef America is lousy! What happened to this channel and Discovery? Really?

I love Food Network. I can't start naming everything that I have learned about food. It's a lot. Rachel Ray's recipies are practical and delicious. Also I like Paula, Everyday Italian and Barefoot Contessa. What can I tell you? I have learned from everybody something. I feel like I have my own cooking style now.

This is one of the few networks that at least tries to stay true to its format (FOOD/COOKING) ,unlike mtv, like alot of the programs except any that has to do with Bobby Flay (excluding Iron Chef America). I'm giving it 4 star out of 5. Would of gotton 5 if not for Flay.

I love the Food Network. I can watch when I do my homework and I don't really have to pay attention to know what's going on. It helps that I love food and everything about it. The Food Network Challenges are the best shows on the channel for sure. Iron Chef is cool too.

Rachael Ray has become a over saturated glamour girl on the food channel. They consantly push her shows and over advertise her so much that I can no longer just leave the channel on all the time like I used to do. I like Paula, Alton, Tyler and several others much better. If they continue going the way they are going, it'll be the Rachael Ray Channel. But I won't be watching it. I'm just saying: less would be more.

It's pretty sad when you spend most of your tv time watching the Food Network. But I admit, I love that place. From the cooking shows, love Paula Deen, Rachael Ray, Tyler Florence, Ina Garten, newcomer Juan Cruz and on somedays, Emeril. And Good Eats, $40-day, Food Finds are pretty exceptional themed shows. Damn, and I am hungry......hehehe

I have to downgrade my initial rating from 4 stars to 2 because FN's overall programming has gone downhill in recent months. Except for Iron Chef, primetime has become a wasteland of endless reruns of Unwrapped, The Best Of, and Top 5. Then there's Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee, starring a trophy wife of a real estate tycoon who tries to be like Martha Stewart and fails miserably. My 8 year old nephew does a better job of cooking than this no-talent airhead. Only try the recipes on Ms. Lee's show if you're aiming for a trip to the ER for food poisoning. I used to watch Food Network all the time, but now I only watch when they have actual cooking shows on...which only seems to be weekend mornings.

I really like Food Network - esp Molto Mario, The Fat Ladies and best of all Good Eats - 30 Min Meals and $40 a Day are good shows but Rachel giggles too much and her abbreviations such as "delish" get to me. Also, too much Emeril - I like him but his Emeril Live is too loud and hyper - he's on too many times a day.
